Nice Boy of the Week: Alan Cumming

The list of Emmy nominations came out today and one name jumped out at me which immediately brought to mind our Nice Boy of the Week. Alan Cumming earned an Emmy nomination for his role as Eli Gold on CBS’s “The Good Wife” and I hope he wins. He’s a wonderful actor who’s been seen in so many great roles, such as Mr. Elton in Emma, the Nightcrawler in X Men 2, and as PBS’s current host for Masterpiece Theater.

Cumming has a way of melting into every role he takes on, making him a chameleon on big and small screen. His talents include singer, comedian, director, producer and author. His list of credits include Romy & Michele’s High School Reunion, GoldenEye, The Anniversary Party, Ghost Writer, the Spy Kids trilogy, Eyes Wide Shut, Burlesque and Full Grown Men, to name a few.

For television, Cumming has guest starred in numerous shows in the U.S., such as Sex and the City, 3rd Rock from the Sun, Frasier, The L Word, and the mini-series, Tin Man. He also appeared in UK television in Taggart, Take the High Road and Bernard and the Genie.

Alan Cumming has won awards for his stage work as well. He holds the Tony Award for his role as the Emcee in Cabaret and an Olivier Award for Accidental Death of an AntiChrist.

I’m only listing some of Alan’s accomplishments; there are many more. What a talent! I’m never bored when Alan Cumming is on my screen. No matter what character he is playing, love him or hate him, he commands your attention every time. It would be a crime not to have him included on our Nice Boys list.
