FOREVER: Creator Matt Miller gives us a preview of season 1 {Video)

By  |

Forever, the new show about a medical examiner cursed with immortality (Ioan Gruffudd) and the police detective (Alana De La Garza) that he helps solve crimes, premiered this fall on ABC. The show is a lot of fun and has a bit of a Castle/Elementary vibe, if the male character in each died frequently but couldn’t stay dead. The show films in New York City and was represented at New York Comic Con this past weekend by its two leads and the creator, Matt Miller, at both a press room and a panel.

We got you the equivalent of front row seats in the press room when we sat down to chat with Matt about the show, and a certain previous show he worked on a few years ago that most of the Nice Girls were more than a little obsessed about (<cough> Chuck).

Some highlights [Spoilers Ahead!]:

  • The idea came to him when his young son asked if he would ever die (this story is where the video starts out) and he struggled with how to answer the question
  • We will learn more about the other immortal who is toying with Henry, particularly in episode 6, which is a Jack the Ripper copycat, so we get to flash back to the 1800s in London and there is the suggestion that the other immortal might be doing the killing (potentially in both times)
  • There will be a “Fifty Shades of Gray” episode (1.09) where she and Henry develop an unusual relationship
  • We find out that Abe has been married twice [very briefly] to the same woman and his ex will be played by Jane Seymour
  • He recruited a number of the writers and editors from Chuck for Forever

Watch Forever on Tuesdays, 10/9c on ABC!
