TV OBSESSIONS: Costume Designer Audrey Fisher

By  |

This is part of our series interviewing celebrities, bloggers, and all-around-interesting-people about the TV shows that impacted them as children, young adults, and today. This week we’re talking with True Blood costume designer Audrey Fisher.

What’s the first show you remember watching? How old were you?
I remember being mesmerized by I Dream of Jeannie. I was obsessed with her pink chiffon stylized ’60s harem outfit and her miniature hookah apartment.

Also Bewitched, Sam was so effortlessly stylish and I loved it when she suddenly would appear in a black witchy gown. And, well, ENDORA. Nuff said.

What was your favorite TV show as a child?
I loved watching reruns of I Love Lucy…something about the older black and white episodes really intrigued me, plus the strong silhouette of those clothes just drew my attention. I loved it when they moved to Hollywood too. And then I loved those campy late ’70s/early ’80s shows like Charlies Angels for all the disguises and girl action, and Magnum PI. Then of course Dallas and The Love Boat have a special place in my heart, too. I know all those ’80s costumes just kept me watching.

What show defined your high school and/or college years?
Miami Vice. End of story.

Which current show is Must See TV for you?
Game of Thrones: [Costume Designer] Michele Clapton is obviously a genius. I also really am enjoying Nashville and Revenge! Props to great costumes on both those shows, and some good soapy fun! Perfect for me after a 14 hour work day. Looking forward to True Blood of course…I love sitting and watching it with friends on Sunday nights!

If you could resurrect any TV show, what would it be?
For fun: gotta go with Charlies Angels on that…would be incredible to have it back! Also I really mourned Alias…sort of the same vein! For a little more gravitas: Sopranos and Six Feet Under. Miss ’em.
