I enjoy the entire scifi/fantasy genre so I couldn’t wait to see this show. I am a big X-Files fan and the premiere episode did have a bit of an X-Files feel. I looking forward to where they go from here.

I’m looking forward to a fun show that I can enjoy without having to obsess over to feel like I’m getting all of it (hello…Lost? Yeah, lookin’ at you.). Plus, more scenes with the cow. There’s just something about the cow in the pilot episode that made all of the scenes she was in all the better.

The thinng that appeals to me about The Fringe is that it has a sense of mystery that causes one to think, which is unlike anything else on television that is not from the mind of J.J. Abrams.

  • Jo

What initially drew me in and will keep me watching regardless is Josh Jackson. The added bonus is that the show seemed really interesting and it requires you to pay attention and think. And Josh is hot…. ;)

  • Jess

What appeals to me the most about Fringe…well, I think the entire mystery of the show was what drew me to it. When I watch anything, whether it’s television shows or movies, I love the experience of escaping from reality. I love just devoting those couple of hours to the screen and engaging into the story, the plot, the characters and of course, the mystery. That’s the only word that appeals to me and what describes the Fringe the most. Mystery. Every single thing about the show is a mystery…and I want to be present when the mystery starts, progresses and ends.

I like the X-Files meets Lost angle. Seems like a cool show where an underlying reality is slooowly revealed.

I think like most people I initially watched the show because JJ Abrams was attached to it. I had heard other components of the show, but basically I was in because of Abrams. When it started, and the scene was an airplane, I couldn’t help but think of LOST. I was hoping that would be the last element of LOST because I don’t want another copycat. That aside, the show seemed to build up speed to a satisfying end. The story was intriguing. It was great to see the interplay between father and son. I thought Anna did fine juggling the various aspects of her role in the episode. What happened with the character of John Scott was great. I thought a good foundation was set for the upcoming episodes and you were teased with interesting elements (the pattern) that will probably encompass the season or series.

Someone once said the best lie is 99% true. I think that is another thing I like with the show is it takes elements that have many aspects of truth to it and just plays with them. Truth that is on the “fringe”, so to speak. You’re willing to make the leap to follow along because aspects are plausible, and you probably know that these types of scientific tests have been going on.

Anna Torv was good, but I enjoyed John Noble as Dr. Bishop. I was surprised how much I enjoyed Joshua Jackson as the snarky Peter Bishop. And, it never hurts to have Lance Reddick. (Hopefully he returns as Matthew Abaddon on LOST.)

As a fan of X-Files and LOST it is nice to have another tightly written sci-fi drama that has doses of humor and good chemistry amongst the ensemble. I enjoyed it more than I did the pilot episode of LOST. The trick will be if it can build upon the pilot episode the way LOST did.

I’m definitely in for the next few episodes and to find out more about the pattern and Massive Dynamics.

The complexity of Lost and the kick ass style of Alias, plus bringing back the sexiness of Mr. Josh Jackson. Abrams got it right, once again.

I’m thrilled to see Josh in this show, and that and his intelligent role is the main thing that keeps me watching. How fabulous to see him in this type of project! Plus rounding out the cast, they just have amazing chemistry.

I cannot wait to see how everything unfolds. I love the scavenger hunt of it all!

Thank you for putting this out there! It’s a great way to get other people’s opinion, too!

Really, what appealed to me first was the fact that J.J. Abrams was doing the project. I never watched Lost, but I loved Cloverfield and I’m already completely stoked for the new Star Trek movie he is doing. That aside though, I started reading about what the series was (possibly) supposed to be following, and at that point I became a fan of the show even though the pilot episode hadn’t even aired. How can the idea of somebody or some group doing freakish and near impossible experiments in the world not be appealing? So to break it down, the reasons I am excited about this series are:

    -J.J. Abrams
    -Fringe science

Oh, and did I mention that Anna Torv is hot as hell? Well, there you go… reason #3

  • Tracy

I loved the special effects, the freakiness of it. I also thought Anna Torv was awesome as Olivia. She nailed it. I’m not into sci-fi, & am a real wuss when it comes to scary things, so I thought I might be too freaked out by it, but it had me on the edge of my seat & hooked from the start. It was spooky, exciting, & had great comedy as well.
Also loved Lance Reddick as Broyles. Loved him in The Wire, & he plays tough, disapproving, seemingly jerky bosses so well.
Can’t wait till the next episode!

  • Annie79

Initially I was drawn to watch Fringe because of Joshua Jackson. I’ve waited a long time for him to get a really good show after Dawson’s Creek and a JJ Abrams show was worth the wait!!

The show is terrific! It has it all, the sci fi, the mystery, great acting, great chemistry. It’s a winner!! IMHO

  • Lorna

Fringe started off fairly strongly thanks to some great characterization from all three leads..Olivia has the whole strong- yet- vulnerable thing going on, Walter’s episodic craziness interspersed with moments of sheer brilliance was outstanding and Peter just rocked the whole “wayward genius who will discover a conscience” persona.

Also have to say how amazing it is to have Joshua Jackson back doing his thing every week. We need Fringe to last more than one season…please!

  • boilermaker

What’s not to love?!?! Fringe is great. The mystery/suspense is terrific. The show really makes you pay attention and makes you think. It is very similar to Lost in that way. For the casual fan it is very entertaining. For the hardcore fan looking for all of the clues, it looks like it will offer a lot.

I love the mix of comedy as well. Pacey Witter’s errrr…Peter Bishop’s wit is great. Olivia Dunham is smart and sexy. What a great combination.

  • eheyl

What do I like best about the show? The humor. It is very sly! I also like the mystery as it brings back memories of the pseudoscience course I took at University. The acting is great, the sets are phenomenal and it is DARK and takes its subject matter seriously. I hope the show stays on….

  • DanDraver

For me it’s the mysterious nature of the plot. I always enjoyed Abrams’s strange storylines, being it Alias’s Rambaldi, Lost’s Hatch or Fringe’s Massive Dynamics and The Pattern. Add insane trists and turns, interesting characters, and you have a show that’s not only interesting, but something that you can easily obsess about. :)
