Salute to Rising Stars
Since last year, I have been highlighting rising stars, actresses who are on the move, actresses who deserve a little extra attention for their latest work. Landing that crucial role in a TV movie or guest appearance in a successful show or film makes all the difference for aspiring actors.
Let’s take a look at the next two actresses who viewers should keep their eye on:
Amber Midthunder
Amber is a twenty-something Native American actress and filmmaker, who made her mark last year in the visually stunning and mind-bending sci-fi drama Legion, playing Kerry Loudermilk, a kick-ass superhero. Legion returns for its second season tonight on FX.
Her first big break came in a small role in the 2009 independent film Sunshine Cleaning and she later followed that up with appearances in episodes of Banshee, Longmire and The Originals.
In 2014, she appeared in the Chris Pine and Ben Foster led box office film Hell or High Water and she will be seen in the upcoming horror flick 14 Cameras and the drama Highway that is set to star Lucy Fry (Netflix’s Bright), Josh Hartnett (Penny Dreadful and Black Hawk Down) and Eiza Gonzalez (From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series and Baby Driver).
Bailey Skodje
The soon-to-be 10-year-old is part of the ensemble cast of the brand new ABC drama The Crossing that debuted last night. She plays Leah, the daughter of Reece (Natalie Martinez from Under the Dome), “immigrants” from a future Earth, who traveled back in time to escape a horrific war.
Among Bailey’s made-for-TV movies credits are If There Be Thorns, Signed Sealed Delivered: One in a Million, A Christmas to Remember and Story of a Girl. She has also appeared in episodes of UnReal and Rogue.
She will also be seen in the faith-based box office film The Miracle Season that is set to open in theatres this Friday.
Here is to Amber and Bailey as rising stars!
