The following list provides the dates of the new dramas that will air on streaming services as well as the major and cable networks and the made-for-TV movies and more that will all air during January:
January 1 – The winter premiere of Valor will air on The CW at 9 PM

Show Synopsis: The new series explores the high-pressure experiences of police, paramedics and firefighters who are thrust into the most frightening, shocking and heart-stopping situations. The cast includes Angela Bassett, Peter Krause, Connie Britton, Aisha Hinds, Kenneth Choi and Rockmond Dunbar.
January 3 – SEAL Team and Criminal Minds will return to CBS at 9 and 10 PM respectively
January 4 – The final season of Nashville will get underway started tonight on CMT at 9 PM
January 4 – The season finale of Van Helsing will air at 9 PM on Syfy followed by the season finale of Ghost Wars at 10 PM
January 4 – Chicago Fire will air its winter premiere on NBC at 10 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: NYC-based copy editor, Alex, is sent to Ridgeline Resort, an extreme sports outpost, to write a story for a travel writing competition. At first, she fails at everything – much to the chagrin of Cole, an extreme sports enthusiast who thinks this city girl should head back to New York. But when Alex offers to assist Cole with his local arts festival, he reluctantly obliges to be her guide as she faces her fears doing one extreme sport after the next. The film stars Katrina Bowden and Thomas Beaudoin.
January 7 – The Golden Globe Awards will air on NBC at 8 PM

January 7 – The new Showtime series The Chi will debut at 10 PM
Show Synopsis: This coming-of-age story centers on a group of residents who become linked by coincidence but bonded by the need for connection and redemption. The cast includes Jason Mitchell (Straight Outta Compton), Jacob Latimore (Sleight), Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine (Queen of Katwe), Alex Hibbert (Moonlight), Yolonda Ross (Treme and The Get Down), Armando Riesco (Bull) and Tiffany Boone (The Following).
January 7 – The new UP TV movie Runaway Romance will debut at 7 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: A reality TV star Ann Stanway (Danielle Chuchran) leaves Hollywood and finds herself in Amish country, where she discovers friendship, new love and ultimately herself. In the end, Ann must decide between staying in her newfound reality or returning to her old one. The cast includes Trevor Donovan and Tatum O’Neal.
January 7 – The Hallmark Movies & Mysteries movie Last Scene Alive: An Aurora Teagarden Mystery will debut at 9 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: A Hollywood film crew descends on the town of Lawrenceton, GA to produce a film based on a book written by Aurora’s onetime boyfriend Robin Crusoe. However, when the lead actress, who is playing Aurora is killed, the real Aurora and the Murders Club must investigate a long list of suspects. The film stars Candace Cameron Bure, Marilu Henner and Yannick Bisson.
January 7 – Wisdom of the Crowd, NCIS: Los Angeles and Madam Secretary will return to CBS at 8, 9 and 10 PM respectively
January 8 – The winter premiere of The Brave will air on NBC at 10 PM

January 12 – The winter premiere of Blindspot will air at 8 PM on NBC followed by the second season premiere of Taken at 9 PM
January 13 – Frozen in Love is the latest new Hallmark Channel movie at 9 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: When struggling bookstore owner Mary and the bad boy of professional hockey, Adam, are teamed together to help facilitate an image makeover for the other, they soon realize that opposites attract and they find themselves unexpectedly frozen in love. The film stars Rachael Leigh Cooke and Niall Matter.
January 14 – The Hallmark Movies & Mysteries movie Past Malice: An Emma Fielding Mystery will debut at 9 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: When archaeologist Professor Emma Fielding is recruited to aid in a groundbreaking discovery beneath the Chandler Castle, she is swept into another mystery when she finds her colleague murdered in the crypts below. Taking over the job– and making unsettling connections to an age-old curse– Emma, her students, and FBI Agent Jim Conner soon find themselves in danger of being buried along with the secrets that fill Chandler Castle. The cast includes Courtney Thorne Smith and James Tupper.
January 14 – The second season of the PBS mini-series Victoria will premiere at 9 PM
January 15 – The two-hour season finale of The Gifted will air on FOX at the special time of 8 PM
January 15 – The winter premiere of Supergirl will air at 8 PM on The CW
January 15 – Scorpion will return to CBS with new episodes at 10 PM
January 16 – The Flash will air it winter premiere on The CW at 8 PM on The CW followed by the series premiere of Black Lightning at 9 PM
Show Synopsis (Black Lightning): Jefferson Pierce (Cress Williams from Hart of Dixie) is a man wrestling with a secret. As the father of two daughters and principal of a charter high school that also serves as a safe haven for young people in a New Orleans neighborhood overrun by gang violence, he is a hero to his community. Nine years ago, Pierce was a hero of a different sort. Gifted with the superhuman power to harness and control electricity, he used those powers to keep his hometown streets safe as the masked vigilante Black Lightning. However, after too many nights with his life on the line, and seeing the effects of the damage and loss that his alter ego was inflicting on his family, he left his Super Hero days behind and settled into being a principal and a dad. But with crime and corruption spreading like wildfire, and those he cares about in the crosshairs of the menacing local gang The One Hundred, Black Lightning returns – to save not only his family, but also the soul of his community. The cast includes Nafessa Williams, China Anne McClain and Christine Adams.
January 17 – The third season premiere of The Path will air on Hulu online today

January 17 – The debut of American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace will air on FX at 10 PM
Anthology Synopsis: The show focuses on the final days and murder of the Italian fashion designer [to be played by Edgar Ramirez] and explores the sadistic mind of his killer Andrew Cunanan (Darren Criss of Glee fame), a 27-year-old serial killer, who also murdered Chicago tycoon Lee Miglin (Mike Farrell) and at least three others before committing suicide. The cast includes Penelope Cruz, Ricky Martin, Max Greenfield, Judith Light, Finn Wittrock and Nico Evers-Swindell.
January 18 – The two-hour season premiere of Beyond will air on Freeform at 8 PM
January 18 – Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal and How to Get Away With Murder will all air their winter premieres on ABC at 8, 9 and 10 PM respectively
January 18 – Supernatural and Arrow will air their winter premieres on The CW at 8 and 9 PM respectively
January 18 – The season finale of the USA Network series Damnation will air at 10 PM
January 20 – The Hallmark Channel movie One Winter Weekend will debut at 9 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Cara, a women’s magazine writer who gets burned by her boyfriend on New Years’ Eve, decides to go on a dating detox. Challenged by her employer to write about it, she hopes a spontaneous ski getaway with her best friend will spark inspiration. Complicating matters, they discover they’ve double booked their chalet with two eligible men, including Ben, an entrepreneur. When the share-mates get snowed in, Cara and Ben are thrown together. The film stars Taylor Cole.
January 20 – The Lifetime movie Cocaine Godmother: The Griselda Blanco Story will debut at 8 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Film star Catherine Zeta-Jones stars as drug lord Griselda Blanco, a pioneer in the Miami-based cocaine trade, who at the age of 17 made her way to the U.S. with a fake passport and her first husband Carlos. Living in Queens with her three sons, she became enticed by the money the drug world offered, and quickly became embroiled with local drug runners. Griselda masterminded the use of beautiful women, the elderly and children as the mules and created false-bottom suitcases to smuggle cocaine from Colombia. With money rolling in, her sons abandoned school and entered the family business instead. A move to Miami would further expand her empire, and lead to the death of her second husband Alberto (Juan Pablo Espinosa), giving the rise to her nickname, The Black Widow. Her willingness to use violence against her Miami competitors, led her rivals to make repeated unsuccessful attempts to kill her. In order to protect her youngest son with third husband Dario, she moved to California where she was later arrested by the DEA and sentenced to a decade in jail. The case against her collapsed and upon her release, she was deported to Colombia, where she was ultimately gunned down in 2012.
January 21 – The Hallmark Movies & Mysteries movie The Morning Show Murders will debut at 9 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Billie Blessings has gone from beloved chef, restaurant owner, and morning show segment host to #1 suspect in a murder case when one of the executives at the network dies from poisoning. When the head chef at Billie’s restaurant is arrested and held as a suspect, Billie takes matters into her own hands by digging deeper into a mystery that could incriminate people close to her while risking her own life in the process. The cast includes Holly Robinson Peete and Rick Fox.
January 21 – The series premiere of Counterpart will debut on Starz at 8 PM
Show Synopsis: The show is about the mysterious world hidden beneath the surface of our everyday existence. Howard Silk (J.K. Simmons) is a lowly cog in the bureaucratic machinery of a Berlin-based United Nations spy agency. When Howard discovers that his organization safeguards the secret of a crossing into a parallel dimension, he is thrust into a shadow world of intrigue, danger, and double cross… where the only man he can trust is his near-identical counterpart from this parallel world. The cast includes Olivia Williams, Jacqueline Bisset, Richard Schiff, Stephen Rea, Ingo Rademacher, Kenneth Choi and Sarah Bolger.
January 21 – The Screen Actors Guild Awards will air on TBS and TNT at 8 PM
January 21 – The new FOX drama The Resident will debut at 10 PM [after the NFC Championship game]
Show Synopsis: The new medical series will focus on the final years of a young doctor’s training that rips back the curtain to reveal the truth of what really happens, both good and bad, in hospitals across the country. The series stars Matt Czuchry (The Good Wife), Emily VanCamp (Revenge), Manish Dayal (Halt and Catch Fire), Merrin Dungey (Alias and Big Little Lies), Melina Kanakaredes (CSI: NY and Providence) and Bruce Greenwood.
NOTE: The show will move to its regular timeslot of 9 PM on January 22.
January 22 – The 6-part limited series Mosaic will debut at 8 PM on HBO
Limited Series Synopsis: Set against the backdrop of a mountain resort town, the limited series follows popular children’s book author and illustrator Olivia Lake (Sharon Stone), whose literary success makes her a local celebrity in the tight-knit community. But when Olivia disappears on New Year’s Day, leaving behind a blood-soaked studio, MOSAIC becomes an intricate whodunit, and it is up to detective Nate Henry (Devin Ratray) and Eric’s sister, Petra (Jennifer Ferrin), to unravel the mystery. The cast includes Garrett Hedlund, Frederick Weller, Beau Bridges and Paul Reubens.
January 22 – The new TNT period piece drama The Alienist will debut at 9 PM
Show Synopsis: The series will focus on criminal psychologist (aka alienist) Dr. Laszlo Kreizler (Daniel Brühl) and newspaper illustrator John Moore (Luke Evans), who are called in to conduct the investigation the gruesome murders of boy prostitutes in New York City. They are joined by Sara Howard (Dakota Fanning), a headstrong secretary determined to become the city’s first female police detective. The cast includes Q’orianka Kilcher, Robert Wisdom and Douglas Smith [among others].
January 23 – The new WGN America drama Bellevue will debut at 10 PM
Show Synopsis: The show is set against the backdrop of a small town with big secrets. Twenty years ago, the murder of a young woman traumatized the community of Bellevue. Now, the killer is back. When a high school hockey star, who is wrestling with his gender identity, goes missing and all signs point to foul play, Detective Annie Ryder (Anna Paquin from True Blood) must unravel all the pieces to this gripping mystery before her own life falls apart. The cast includes Allen Leech (Downton Abbey) and Shawn Doyle (The Expanse and Frontier).
January 23 – The second season of The Quad will air on BET at 10 PM
January 24 – The winter finale of Vikings will air on the History Channel at 9 PM
January 24 – The 6-part mini-series Waco will debut on the Paramount Network (formerly Spike TV) at 10 PM
Mini-Series Synopsis: The mini-series is based on the controversial and harrowing true story of the 1993 standoff between the FBI, ATF and David Koresh’s [to be played by Friday Night Lights alum Taylor Kitsch spiritual sect in Waco, TX that resulted in a deadly shootout and fire. The ensemble cast includes Camyrn Manheim, John Leguizamo, Michael Shannon, Steven Culp, Melissa Benoist, Rory Culkin and Andrea Riseborough [among others.]
January 26 – The winter premiere of Jane the Virgin will air on The CW at 9 PM
January 27 – The Lifetime original movie Faith Under Fire: The Antoinette Tuff Story will debut at 8 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Singer-actress Toni Braxton stars as the title character, a struggling single mom from Georgia who heroically averted a tragedy, saving hundreds of lives when she convinced a deranged gunman who stormed an elementary school to surrender. The cast includes Malik Yoba, Trevor Morgan, Shalaby Omar and Yaya DaCosta.
January 27 – The new Hallmark Channel movie Winter’s Dream will debut at 9 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: A former ski champion reenters the competitive world when a 16-year old downhill racer asks for help, leading her to reawaken an old passion and find a new love. The film stars Dean Cain and Kristy Swanson.
January 28 – The 60th Annual Grammy Awards will air at CBS on 7:30 PM
January 29 – The season finale of Valor will air at 9 PM on The CW
NOTE: The show has not been given additional episodes so this should be its official unofficial series finale.
January 30 – Viewers should be forewarned that The State of the Union Address will air on all of the major and many of the cable networks tonight
