My Top 11 TV Choices for September

The start of Fall TV is only a few weeks away on the major and cable networks, all of which are offering a lot of choices whether it is returning shows, new series set to debut and/or made-for-TV movies.

Here are my top 11 choices for September TV:

WELCOME BACK

Fans of the popular Starz series Outlander have been waiting since July of 2016 for a new episode to air; and it’s finally time. On September 10, the season premiere of the third season of the show will air on its new night – Sunday – at 8 PM.

The other season premieres that I am anxious to see include:

This Is Us on September 26 at 9 PM on NBC
The Blacklist on September 27 at 8 PM on NBC
Designated Survivor on September 27 at 10 PM on ABC

SAYING GOODBYE

After six seasons and exactly 100 episodes, the MTV supernatural thriller Teen Wolf will be coming to an end on September 24 with an extended series finale, starting at 8 PM. This final battle is going to be bloody and I have a bad feeling that not everyone in the main cast is going to make it out alive.

NEW IN TOWN

On September 10, the new FOX drama The Orville will debut at 8 PM. The series is set 400 years in the future, following the adventures of the U.S.S. Orville, a mid-level exploratory vessel. Its crew, both human and alien, face the wonders and dangers of outer space, while also dealing with the familiar, often humorous problems of regular people in a workplace even though some of those people are from other planets, and the workplace is a faster-than-light spaceship.

On September 25, the new NBC military drama The Brave will debut at 10 PM. Anne Heche stars as D.I.A. Deputy Director Patricia Campbell; her team of analysts wield the world’s most advanced surveillance technology from Washington, D.C. Mike Vogel (Under the Dome) stars as Adam Dalton (Mike Vogel), who with his heroic Special Ops squad of highly trained undercover specialists, use their unbreakable bond and commitment to freedom to save lives of innocent people and execute missions in some of the most dangerous places in the world.

On September 27, the new CBS drama Seal Team will debut at 9 PM. David Boreanaz (Bones and Angel) stars in this military drama that follows the professional and personal lives of the most elite unit of Navy SEALs as they train, plan and execute the most dangerous, high stakes missions our country can ask of them. Deployed on clandestine missions worldwide at a moment’s notice, and knowing the toll it takes on them and their families, this tight-knit SEAL team displays unwavering patriotism and fearless dedication, even in the face of overwhelming odds.

On September 29, the two-hour series premiere of Marvel’s Inhumans will air at the special time of 8 PM on ABC. The series explores the never-before-told epic adventure of the royal family including Black Bolt, the enigmatic, commanding King of the Inhumans, with a voice so powerful that the slightest whisper can destroy a city. After the Royal Family of Inhumans is splintered by a military coup, they barely escape to Hawaii where they are greeted with surprising interactions with the lush world and humanity around them. Now they must find a way to reunite with each other and return to their home before their way of life is destroyed forever.

FALL HARVEST

Hallmark Channel has become synonymous with family-friendly made-for-TV movies centered on the changing of seasons throughout the year. The first two movies in the network’s Fall Harvest films will air on the last two Saturdays of the month.

They are as follows:

Falling for Vermont will debut on September 23 at 9 PM. Julie Gonzalo (Dallas) plays a best-selling author, who decides to escape the media frenzy. Her plan goes awry, though, when she’s caught in a thunderstorm and crashes her car. Found wandering with no memory and no ID, the town doctor [and a single dad] (Benjamin Ayers from Saving Hope) offers up his guest house until her memory returns. But as she blends seamlessly into their family life, she must decide if the life she’s been living is the life she wants.

Harvest Love will debut on September 30 at 9 PM. A widowed surgeon (Jen Lilley from Hallmark Channel movie Eat, Play, Love) visits her family’s pear orchard in hopes of taking a break from her overbooked life and reconnecting with her distant son. She starts to fall for the farm manager, Will (Ryan Paevey from the Hallmark Channel movie Unleashing Mr. Darcy), who is growing a new hybrid pear and teaches her the importance of her heritage.
