The following list provides the dates of the returning cable and major network dramas as well as new cable and major network dramas, made-for-TV movies and mini-series that will air during September:
September 1 – The season finale of Rizzoli and Isles will air on TNT at 8 PM
September 1 – The season finale of Tyrant will air at 10 PM on FX
September 3 – The season finales of Mistresses and Rookie Blue will air at 9 and 10 PM respectively on ABC
September 4 – The Amazon series Hand of God will debut online today
Show Synopsis: The show centers on Judge Harris (Ron Perlman), a hard-living, law-bending married man with a high-end call girl on the side, who suffers a mental breakdown and goes on a vigilante quest to find the rapist who tore his family apart. The cast includes Dana Delany (China Beach and Body of Proof), Garret Dillahunt (Raising Hope), Julian Morris (Pretty Little Liars and Once Upon a Time) and Alona Tal (Supernatural and Burn Notice) [among others].
September 5 – The Lifetime made-for-TV movie River Raft Nightmare will air at 8 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: A mother and daughter’s white-water rafting trip becomes a nightmare when they encounter three escaped convicts searching for a hidden satchel of stolen cash. Separated from their rafting party, alone on an isolated river, they must struggle to survive against overwhelming odds. Bridgit Brannaugh (Army Wives) and Ivan Sergei (Charmed) will star.
September 6 – The Last Ship will air its season finale on TNT at 9 PM
September 6 – The PBS 3-part mini-series Arthur & George will debut at 8 PM
Mini-Series Synopsis: Martin Clunes (Shakespeare in Love) stars as Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, creator of Sherlock Holmes, in the small screen adaptation of the novel by Julian Barnes. Outraged by injustice to an Anglo-Indian solicitor, the famed author uses the methods of his own fictional detective to get at the truth. The cast also includes Arsher Ali (The Missing).
NOTE: This mini-series will air each Sunday night through September 20.
September 9 – The two-hour season finale of Extant will air at 9 PM on CBS

September 10 – The fourth season of Longmire will air online at Netflix
September 10 – Under the Dome will air its SERIES finale at 10 PM on CBS (yep, the show has been cancelled)
September 11 – Z Nation will air its season premiere on Syfy at 10 PM followed by the season premiere of the final season of Continuum at 11 PM
September 12 – The Lifetime movie Murder Pact is supposed to air on Lifetime (check your local listings for airtime)
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: After witnessing the accidental death of their classmate Heidi, a group of friends – four rich socialites – flee the scene, not realizing that Heidi’s roommate Lisa witnessed everything. When Lisa starts to drop hints that she knows about the “accident,” the friends decide they can’t trust her to stay quiet, and plot to kill Lisa before she rats them out, burying her body beneath the floorboards in one of their basements. Before long, though, the guilt and paranoia starts to consume them, and they become convinced that Lisa may actually be alive and looking for revenge. The cast includes Alexa PenaVega (Spy Kids and Nashville), Beau Mirchoff (Awkward), Renee Olstead (The Secret Life of the American Teenager) Michael J. Willett (Faking It) and Sean Patrick Thomas (The District).
September 13 – The new UP Channel movie Welcome Home will debut at 7 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Luke Perry (Ties That Bind and Beverly Hills, 90210) stars and executive produces this new made-for-TV-movie that tells the story of Stewart Paylor, a writer who returns from vacation to find that a homeless mother and her two children have been squatting in his house, with nowhere to go. The cast includes Erica Cerra (Eureka).
September 13 – The Hallmark Movies & Mysteries movie Signed, Sealed, Delivered Truth Be Told will debut at 9 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: The POstables (Eric Mabius, Kristin Booth, Crystal Lowe and Geoff Gustafson) – a special group of Post Office Investigators – are on the case when a soldier’s letter home is lost in the mail. Though they find the letter’s intended recipient, the team discovers that, in this case, finding the letter’s sender is just as important in unlocking the letter’s true mystery. During the investigation, POstable leader Oliver goes on a personal journey of his own when his estranged father (Gregory Harrison) comes back into his life with shocking family news.
September 15 – The two-hour debut of The Bastard Executioner will air on FX at 10 PM
Show Synopsis: The epic medieval series tells the story of Wilkin Brattle (Lee Jones), a 14th century warrior, whose life is forever changed when a divine messenger beseeches him to lay down his sword and lead the life of another man: a journeyman executioner. The cast includes Katey Sagal (Sons of Anarchy) and Stephen Moyer (True Blood) [among others].
September 15 – The season finale of Zoo will air at 9 PM on CBS
September 17 – Graceland will air its season finale on the USA Network at 10 Pm
September 19 – Doctor Who will air its season premiere on BBC America at 9 PM
September 19 – The two-part season finale of Cedar Cove at 8 PM on the Hallmark Channel (the second part should air on September 26)
September 19 – The new Hallmark Channel movie Lead With the Heart will debut at 9 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: With their youngest son leaving for college in the fall, happily married couple Ben (William Baldwin from Backdraft) and Maura (Kari Matchett from Covert Affairs) prepare for their upcoming chapter as empty nesters. The couple faces an even larger change when Maura takes a temporary position – and big promotion – in Minneapolis. Ben and Maura miss one another while living apart, but the distance also shines a light on their differences like never before. When Maura’s temporary position becomes a full time offer, the couple must decide if they will continue their long distance marriage or make another change. With the support of their son, Adam and daughter, Lacey, Ben and Maura must follow their hearts to make the right decision for their family and to make this next chapter in their lives a happy one. The cast includes Amy Forsyth (Defiance) and Steven Love (How to Fall in Love TV movie).
September 20 – The Emmy Awards will air on FOX at 8 PM
September 21 – The new NBC drama Blindspot will debut at 10 PM
Show Synopsis: A vast international plot explodes when a beautiful Jane Doe (Jaimie Alexander from Kyle XY and the Thor films), completely covered in mysterious, intricate tattoos, is discovered naked in Times Square with no memory of who she is or how she got there. But there’s one tattoo that is impossible to miss: the name of FBI agent Kurt Weller (Sullivan Stapleton from Strike Back), emblazoned across her back. “Jane,” Agent Weller and the rest of the FBI quickly realize that each mark on her body is a crime to solve, leading them closer to the truth about her identity and the mysteries to be revealed. The cast includes Marianne Jean-Baptiste (Without a Trace), Ukweli Roach (The Royals), Audrey Esparza (Black Box), Rob Brown (Treme) and Ashley Johnson (Growing Pains and Spooked).
September 21 – The season premieres of Scorpion and NCIS: Los Angeles will air on CBS at 9 and 10 PM respectively
September 21 – Gotham will air its season premiere at 8 PM on FOX followed by the debut of Minority Report at 9 PM
Show Synopsis (Minority Report): Based on the film of the same name, the series follows the unlikely partnership between a man haunted by the future (Stark Sands from Inside Llewyn Davis) and a cop (Meagan Good from Californication and the short-lived Deception) haunted by her past, as they race to stop the worst crimes of the year 2065 before they happen. The cast includes Wilmer Valderrama (That 70’s Show), Nick Zano (What I Like About You) and Laura Regan (Mad Men).
September 21 – Castle will air its season premiere on ABC at 10 PM
September 22 – NCIS and NCIS: New Orleans will both air their season premieres at 8 and 9 PM respectively on CBS followed by the debut of the new drama Limitless at 10 PM
Show Synopsis (Limitless): Based on the feature film, the drama is about Brian Finch (Jake McDorman from Greek), who discovers the brain-boosting power of the mysterious drug NZT and is coerced by the FBI into using his extraordinary cognitive abilities to solve complex cases for them. The cast includes Jennifer Carpenter (Dexter), Hill Harper (CSI: NY) and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio (Grimm)
September 22 – The new thriller Scream Queens will air its two-hour series debut at 8 PM on FOX
Show Synopsis: Wallace University is rocked by a string of murders. Kappa House, the most sought-after sorority for pledges, is ruled with an iron fist (in a pink glove) by its Queen Bitch, Chanel Oberlin (Emma Roberts from American Horror Story: Freak Show); but when anti-Kappa Dean Munsch (Jamie Lee Curtis from Halloween and True Lies) decrees that sorority pledging must be open to all students, and not just the school’s silver-spooned elite, all hell is about to break loose, as a devil-clad killer begins wreaking havoc, claiming one victim, one episode at a time. The cast includes Lea Michele (Glee), Abigail Breslin (Zombieland), Oliver Hudson (Nashville), Skyler Samuels (American Horror Story: Coven and The Nine Lives of Chloe King), Keke Palmer (Masters of Sex), Diego Bonita (Pretty Little Liars and Rock of Ages), Niecy Nash (The Soul Man), Nick Jonas (Kingdom) and actress-singer Ariana Grande [among others].

September 22 – The fall finale of The Haves and Have Nots will air at 9 PM followed by the second season premiere of If Loving You Is Wrong both on OWN at 10 PM

September 23 – The Mysteries of Laura will air its season premiere at 8 PM on NBC followed by the two-hour season premiere of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit at 9 PM
September 23 – The new drama Rosewood will air its series premiere on FOX at 8 PM followed by the season premiere of Empire at 9 PM
Show Synopsis (Rosewood): The series focuses on Dr. Beaumont Rosewood, Jr. (Morris Chestnut from Legends and Nurse Jackie), the most brilliant private pathologist in Miami, who uses his wildly sophisticated autopsy lab to perform for-hire autopsies to uncover clues that the Miami PD can’t see. His new partner-in-crime is Detective Villa (Jaina Lee Ortiz from The After), a Miami PD detective with attitude and demons to spare. The cast includes Domenick Lombardozzi (Breakout Kings) and Maggie Elizabeth Jones (Ben and Kate and We Bought a Zoo) [among others].
September 23 – The season premiere of Nashville will air at 10 PM on ABC
September 24 – The season premieres of Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal and How to Get Away with Murder will all air on ABC at 8, 9 and 10 PM respectively
September 24 – The new reboot series Heroes Reborn will debut for two hours at 8 PM followed by the series debut of The Player at 10 PM on NBC
Show Synopsis (Heroes Reborn): The 13-episode event series chronicles the lives of ordinary people who discover they possess extraordinary abilities. A year ago, a terrorist attack in Odessa, Texas, left the city decimated. Blamed for the tragic event, those with extraordinary abilities are in hiding or on the run from those with nefarious motives. The cast includes Zachary Levi (Chuck) and Judith Shekoni (the Twilight franchise) are a married couple seeking to avenge a tragic loss; Jack Coleman returns as Noah Bennet (aka H.R.G.), who has gone off the grid; Henry Zebrowski (A to Z) plays a conspiracy theorist Quentin Frady, who finds Noah and opens his eyes to the truth behind the Odessa tragedy; Robbie Kay (Once Upon a Time) play Tommy, an awkward teen, who just wants to be normal; Gatlin Green (Criminal Minds) is Emily, the girl of Tommy’s dreams; Danika Yarosh (Shameless) plays Malina, a very sheltered, bold and ethereal teenager, who has been told she is destined for greatness; Kiki Sukezane (Death Yankee 3) plays Miko, a quiet and unique young woman, who is trying to track down her missing father; Ryan Guzman (Pretty Little Liars and The Boy Next Door) plays Carlos, a former soldier; Rya Kihlstedt (Masters of Sex) plays Erica, the head of the highly successful tech conglomerate Renautas, who has an agenda of her own. Cast members from the original series who will reprise their role include Greg Grunberg, Masi Oka and Sendhil Ramamurthy.
Show Synopsis (The Player): Wesley Snipes and Philip Winchester (Strike Back) star in this action-packed Las Vegas thriller about a former military operative turned security expert who is drawn into a high-stakes game where an organization of wealthy individuals gamble on his ability to stop some of the biggest crimes imaginable from playing out. Can he take them down from the inside and get revenge for the death of his wife, or is it true what they say: The house always wins. The cast includes Charity Wakefield (Sense & Sensibility and Mockingbird Lane) and Damon Gupton (Rake and The Divide).
September 25 – Hawaii Five-0 and Blue Bloods will air their season premieres on CBS at 9 and 10 PM respectively
September 26 – The new Hallmark Channel movie Love On the Air will debut at 9 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: When polar opposite radio hosts Sonia (Allison Sweeney from Days of Our Lives) and Nick (Jonathan Scarfe from Ties That Bind) are assigned to co-host a talk show, their conflicting approaches to love and relationships create a battle of the sexes. Though the independent woman and the defiant bachelor spar on air, the common bond of having been hurt in relationships makes them friends in their personal lives. When Nick tries to help Sonia win her ex-fiancé back, however, both begin to realize that their friendly feelings may have grown into something more. As the two radio personalities begin to let their emotional guards down, they must decide if their true love is on the air.
September 27 – Once Upon a Time will air not only air a recap episode at 7 PM but its season premiere will air at 8 PM followed by the debuts of Blood & Oil and Quantico at 9 and 10 PM respectively all on ABC
Show Synopsis (Blood & Oil): Billy and Cody Lefever (Chace Crawford from Gossip Girl and Rebecca Rittenhouse from Red Band Society) dream of a new life beyond their working class roots and move to “The Bakken” in North Dakota, booming after the biggest oil discovery in American history. They’re soon pitted against a ruthless tycoon (Don Johnson) who forces them to bet big and put everything on the line, including their marriage. The cast includes Adan Canto (The Following), Amber Valletta (Revenge), Scott Michael Foster (Chasing Life and Once Upon a Time), India de Beaufort (Jane By Design) and Delroy Lindo (Believe).
Show Synopsis (Quantico): A diverse group of recruits has arrived at the FBI Quantico Base for training. They are the best, the brightest and the most vetted, so it seems impossible that one of them is suspected of masterminding the biggest attack on New York City since 9/11. The cast includes Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra, Josh Hopkins (Cougar Town), Aunjanue Ellis (NCIS: Los Angeles), Graham Rogers (Revolution), Jake McLaughlin (Believe), Johanna Braddy (UnReal) and Tate Ellington (The Mindy Project).
September 27 – The two-hour series finale of CSI will air at 9 PM on CBS

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Two years after her husband Andre’s death, Annie (Kelli Martin from ER and Life Goes On) and her children Ella and Milo struggle to cope with his loss. Annie can’t imagine falling in love after losing Andre, until she meets James (Kavan Smith from When Calls the Heart), a wealthy bachelor who is drawn to her free spirit. Annie is afraid to love again and longs for guidance when she catches herself starting to fall for James. Her concerns are answered when she starts receiving communications from her late husband that encourage her to follow her heart.
September 27 – The PBS Masterpiece mini-series Indian Summers will air at 9 PM starting tonight, airing through November 22
MINI-SERIES SYNOPSIS: Julie Walters (Harry Potter franchise) plays the glamorous doyenne of an English social club in the twilight of British rule in India. The lavish series explores the collision of the English ruling class and local people agitating for Indian independence. The two sides alternately clash and merge in intricate games of power, politics and passion. The cast includes Jemima West (The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones) and Henry Lloyd-Hughes (Madame Bovary and Anna Karenina) [among others].
September 27 – The season finale of Ray Donovan and Masters of Sex will air on Showtime at 9 and 10 PM respectively
September 29 – Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will air its season premiere on ABC at 9 PM
September 30 – The season premiere of Criminal Minds will air on CBS at 9 PM followed by the debut of Code Black at 10 PM
Show Synopsis (Code Black): The new medical drama takes place in the busiest, most notorious ER in the nation, where the staggering influx of patients can outweigh the limited resources available to the extraordinary doctors and nurses whose job is to treat them all – creating a condition known as Code Black. The cast includes Marcia Gay Harden, Bonnie Somerville (Golden Boy), Raza Jaffrey (Smash), Luis Guzman (How to Make it in America) and Ben Hollingsworth (A Wish Come True) [among others].
September 30 – Chicago P.D. will air its season premiere on NBC at 10 PM
