Merry Christmas and How the TV Season Has Done So Far
Can you believe that we are merely days away from Christmas? It is hard to imagine that the year is almost at an end and we will be celebrating 2015 in just a little over a week.
While there is time I want to wish all of our readers here at NiceGirlsTV a very joyous and Merry Christmas and that the holiday is everything each of you want it to be.
Before the year ends, I also want to take some time to take a look at how the 2014-2015 TV season is doing.
As most viewers know by now, NBC has stopped production on the new thriller Constantine and while it hasn’t ‘officially’ been cancelled, there is a very slim chance that the show will be back let alone be renewed for a second season. Also, the future of both new dramas State of Affairs and The Mysteries of Laura are a toss-up as of right now. Viewers should also be reminded that this is the final season of Parenthood while the following NBC dramas are doing really well: Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., Grimm, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and The Blacklist.
Over on FOX, the network has officially announced that Gracepoint, the U.S. adaptation of the British series Broadchurch, has been cancelled. Meanwhile, the new medical drama Red Band Society has been pulled from the schedule, but an official cancellation announcement has yet to be made. Also, this will be the final season for Glee while Bones, Sleepy Hollow and Gotham are all performing up to network standards.
As for The CW, none of the network’s shows have been canceled, but the status of The 100, Jane the Virgin and Reign are all a toss-up as to whether they will be renewed or not while the future of Arrow, Supernatural, The Flash and The Vampire Diaries are going to be just fine. The Originals is stuck in middle, but will probably have a good shot at renewal.
The dramas over on CBS that do not have to worry about their future include Criminal Minds, Elementary, NCIS, NCIS: New Orleans and Scorpion while The Mentalist is going into its final season. NCIS: Los Angeles and Person of Interest aren’t really in jeopardy either but the new drama Stalker and the long-running CSI should be on alert that they may not be around much longer. The network’s other dramas Blue Bloods, Hawaii Five-0, Madam Secretary and The Good Wife are actually toss-ups as to whether they will be back or not.
Lastly, fans of the ABC dramas Castle, How To Get Away With Murder and Scandal will be glad to know these shows will be back for sure next season; and it is more than likely that Grey’s Anatomy and Nashville will get another season each. Both dramas Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Once Upon a Time have seen their ratings drop, but there is a chance the network will keep them around for one more season. The future of new drama Forever as well as Resurrection and Revenge are a bit more tenuous, though, as any or all of them could see this as their last season on the air.
What are your thoughts on the 2014-2015 TV season to date? What shows have you enjoyed watching the most? Is there a new drama you like better than the rest? Is there a current drama that you still love to watch or maybe there is one that you think has worn out its welcome? Please share your thoughts below.
Merry Christmas to All!
