Weight: New Comedy Web Series To Come

By  |

If there is any one particular element that can compel me to get behind a new series or film project, it is the inclusion of strong female characters in the story. When that is there, everything else seems to fall into place and gives me a character I can root for. The key to finding such characters can usually be found in the strong female writers behind the project. In a new web series created by Daryn Strauss (award nominated creator of web series Downsized), and starring Martha Byrne (who won two Emmy Awards for her portrayal of Lily Snyder on As The World Turns), there is great promise for just this type of perfect storm brewing.

We’ve all seen series like The Biggest Loser, where contestants lose a lot of weight in a short amount of time and completely change their lives. But we never see what happens when they go home. This comedy takes place after the main character returns home from just such a show 100 lbs. lighter, and explores the effects on her as well as how those around her react to the change.

Currently the project is crowdfunding to raise needed funds. Their goal is $15,000 and the deadline is quickly approaching. The perks offered to sweeten the deal (as if supporting a promising girl-power project isn’t enough), include something for everyone. You can choose a phone call from the shows star Byrne, online chat with both star and creator, a party with a number of soap stars, an autographed script, a walk on role, or even production credit among other things. If you would like to help the project out, see their crowdfunding page at https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/weight-a-comedy.
