REVOLUTION RECAP: Turning Point
Revolution 2.20 Tomorrowland
Charlie finds Miles half dead laying in the grass after finally escaping his basement prison. They take him back to camp for Gene and Rachel to work on. Of course Miles has about a gazillion lives and is a tough guy, so either two weeks have passed since last week’s episode or Miles heals *very* fast. He is about to tell Rachel that he decided to survive because of her when they are interrupted.
The nanotech still has Priscilla and Aaron has past lost his patience, but he’s not willing to jeopardize her safety. The whole camp is distracted by a loud noise – huge flocks of birds are flying over the camp. Aaron asks Priscilla if she’s doing it, and she tells him no and suggests that he might want to run. He soon finds out why as a thick cloud of unrealistically bright yellow gas heads toward the camp.
Miles recognizes it as mustard gas and tries to lead everyone to higher ground. Patriot soldiers in gas masks walk through the camp and shoot everyone who isn’t immediately killed by the gas. Pretty much all the main characters (and no one else) take refuge in an old tanker truck. Priscilla-nano doesn’t make it in and wonders through the carnage, apparently gaining another “human experience” by watching humans suffer.
After a few hours, they leave the tanker and find no one else alive except for Priscilla. Monroe, in typical Monroe fashion, wants to steal some of the gas and use it on the Patriots (or Willoughby). Miles agrees to help, which doesn’t make Rachel happy of course. She tells him that she’s tired of competing with Monroe and their bromance and so she’s done – they are done.
Truman is in Washington getting an earful from the President over the botched assassination of the Texas President. The President blames it all on him, but he finally grows a pair and tells him off, which almost wins him the President’s respect.
While he’s gone, Mary finds a gas mask in his dresser as well as an invoice for 100 tons of “yellow cross”.
Aaron sees Priscilla-nano wander off and follows her. He follows her to a house where he finds a couple Patriot soldiers in their gas masks doing “normal” things like reading papers. They don’t acknowledge his presence, so he takes one of the masks off. The man seems to be alive but he’s non-responsive. Suddenly, the lights go on and music starts playing, Priscilla-nano has decided that humans are really messed up but that she can help them by altering their brains to make them happy (which apparently also makes them pretty much comatose). She wants to talk to Aaron about the possibilities and he wants to get far away from crazy town.
Neville is approached by a Patriot solder who has been sent by Truman for a progress report. He leads him into a house that he’s booby trapped. He tries to get info on his wife and assumes from the man’s response that his wife is already dead. With nothing left that he loves, Neville kills the man and likely sets out to remake himself yet again.
Miles and Monroe ambush a bunch of Patriots with their gas masks and equipment and collect it all and bring it back to camp.
Gene confronts Mary away from Willoughby and him and Charlie take her back to their camp and show her the mustard gas. She knows it’s true because of what she saw in Truman’s things in their house. Miles and Gene ask her to spy for them with the plan of gradually overthrowing the Patriots from within Willoughby and she agrees. Monroe is really unhappy with Miles’ choice of tactics because he wants to just gas the whole town and the two fight and Miles suggests that Monroe goes along or hits the highway.
Monroe and Connor take off and Miles takes the opportunity to talk to Rachel and tell her about how they are meant for each other and how she and Charlie saved his life, literally and figuratively.
My Thoughts:
I love Miles as much as anyone, but his healing abilities are getting to be something of legend in a world without modern medicine! On the other hand, I love his new commitment to really being “the good guys” and avoiding the ends justifying the means approaches that he’s found himself in a lot this season, mostly because of Monroe’s influence.
It looks like the team is about to all split up again, with Monroe and Connor going their separate ways and Neville going wherever seems the most expedient route at the time. I’m really intrigued to see where all of this goes, and disheartened that the probable cancellation of the series will likely mean that we never get any closure.
Memorable Quotes:
Since when do you refuse a drink in the history of ever? – Monroe
You should run. – Priscilla-nano
Why? – Aaron
Because you’re a lot slower than the rest of them.
We’re the good guys, it’s time we started acting like it! -Miles
