NICE BOY OF THE WEEK: Tom Weston-Jones

By  |

Actor Tom Weston-Jones is our Nice Boy of the Week.

Tom was born in Burton upon Trent in Staffordshire in England in 1987 but he and his two siblings (sister Bethan and brother Ben) were raised in Dubai where his parents were drama teachers. He later moved back to the UK, earning a degree in drama and theatre from the University of London and trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.

He was in a school production of “Blood Brothers” alongside his brother and got his first big break in 2010 in the Hampstead Theatre (in London) production of “Enlightenment” (by Shelagh Stephenson). Director Ed Hall cast Tom as the very troubled Adam, a young man with a brain injury and a compulsion to lie.

The following year Tom landed a short recurring role, that of Sasha Gavrik, in the final season of the UK series Spooks (also known as MI-5 here in the States). He appeared in six episodes, staring alongside Peter Firth and Nicola Walker.

He followed that up with the major role of Merthin Fitzgerald in the made-for-TV mini-series World Without End, the 13th Century epic from Ken Follet. The eight-part mini, which was filmed in Budapest (Hungary), aired on the Reelz Channel during the latter part of 2012.

Shortly before World Without End aired, the new BBC America series Copper debuted in August with Tom in the lead role of Kevin Corcoran. Copper is set in 1864 in New York where his character Kevin works as a detective in the five points of Manhattan. The series aired 10 episodes throughout the latter part of 2012 as well.

And, Copper just returned to BBC America for the start of its second season this past Sunday on BBC America and is set to air 13 episodes over this summer and early fall.
