Do You Remember: Notorious

By  |

Back during the 2016-2017 TV season, ABC introduced the new crime and legal drama Notorious, which was based on real-life criminal defense attorney Mark Geragos and news producer Wendy Walker.

The series focused on Jake Gregorian, a charismatic defense attorney and Julia George, a powerhouse TV producer, who worked together to control the media following a high-profile incident.

Jake Gregorian was portrayed by Daniel Sunjata – who is now the star of the hit ABC series High Profile – and former Covert Affairs star Piper Perabo – who has also recently appeared in Yellowstone and the short-lived series Butterfly.

The rest of the cast included:

Sepideh Moafi, who TV viewers will recognize as Dr. Al-Hashimi in the HBO Max hit medical drama The Pitt;
Kate Jennings Grant, who most recently appeared in Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin;
Ryan Guzman, who is a series regular on the long-running FOX/ABC drama 9-1-1;
Kevin Zegers, who most recently appeared in the short-lived ABC series The Rookie: Feds;
J. August Richards, who is best known for his role in Angel; and his current guest appearances in The Madison and Fire Country; and,
Aimee Teegarden, who is best known for her role in the critically acclaimed drama Friday Night Lights.

Notorious debuted on September 22, 2016 with a planned 13 episodes, but just a little over a month later, ABC reduced the show’s series order down to 10 episodes. The show stayed on the ABC schedule until early December of 2016 when the season finale aired, but by the end of that season in May of 2017, the show was officially cancelled.

Among the guest stars who appeared in the show that TV viewers will recognize include:

Melina Kanakaredes (Providence and The Resident)
Karan Oberoi (Found)
Marc Blucas (Buffy, the Vampire Slayer and My Life With the Walter Boys)
Doug Savant (Melrose Place)
Missi Pyle (Galaxy Quest)
Brenda Strong (Everwood and Desperate Housewives)
Maria Barbaro (A Complete Unknown and FUBAR)
Jose Zuniga (Twilight)

Sadly, the show received negative reviews from TV critics with some pretty harsh words from Rotten Tomatoes; namely the show was “implausible and populated with unlikeable characters…(forsaking) dramatic credibility in favor of flash and fluff.”

And the ratings for Notorious started out strong with just a little over 8 million viewers for the pilot but quickly fell to half those numbers by its 10th and final episode.
