Do You Remember: Happyland

By  |

In the fall of 2014, Happyland, the very short-lived comedy drama, created by Ben Epstein (who most recently worked on Goosebumps: The Vanishing over on Disney-Hulu, starring Friends alum David Schwimmer), aired for 8 episodes on the cable network MTV from September 30 through November 18.

The series followed the reality of park workers of one of the most popular theme parks in America. The story focused on cynical teenager Lucy Velez (Bianca S. Santos), the daughter of the park’s Princess Adriana (Camille Guaty from Scorpion, The Rookie and the short-lived Duster starring Lost alum Josh Holloway).

Lucy, who wants to leave the park and experience something “real,” is swept off her feet by the new park owner’s son, Ian Chandler (Shane Harper, recently seen in Power Book IV: Force). The only problem is Ian just might be one of her half brothers because the new park owner (Brady Smith) is her biological dad.

The rest of the cast included Hallmark alum Ryan Rottman and Katherine McNamara, best known for Shadowhunters and Arrow and the soon to air CW rom-com movie Montana Mavericks.

Some of the recurring cast members included:

Singer Josh Groban

Sadly, the show ran out and cold with critics and averaged a very meager 374,000 viewers each week for its brief time on the air.  The show was officially cancelled by MTV on January 8, 2015.
