Do You Remember: Chasing Life

By  |

Back on June 10, 2014 the new drama series Chasing Life debuted on ABC Family (nee Freeform). The series was adapted from the Spanish-language Mexican TV series Terminales.

The series focused on 24-year-old April Carver (Italia Ricci), a smart and quick-witted aspiring journalist at (the fictional) The Boston Post newspaper, who was trying to advance her career by impressing her hard-nosed editor.

When not pursuing the latest scoop, April tried to balance her ambitious career with her family, which included her widowed mom Sara (Mary Page Keller), her rebellious little sister Brenna (Haley Ramm) and her sweet grandmother Emma (Rebecca Schull).

Just as things started to look up at work, home and on the romance front with co-worker Dominic Russo (Richard Brancatisano), an arts reporter at the same newspaper, April learned from her estranged uncle Dr. George Carver (Steven Weber) that she had leukemia.

The other series regular was Aisha Dee, from the Freeform series The Bold Type, played April’s best friend Beth Kingston, who was the first person April told about her cancer and was April’s most steadfast supporter.

Among the supporting actors who recurred on the show were:

Scott Michael Foster (Greek and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend) as Leo Hendrie, the son of a famous politician who also had cancer. SPOILER ALERT: He and April eventually married, but he then passed away in his sleep.
Jessica Meraz (Major Crimes, Supergirl and Nancy Drews) as Natalie Ortiz, the – SPOILER ALERT – half-sister of April and Brenna on their father’s side.
Merrin Dungey (Alias and Shining Vale) as Dr. Susan Hamburg, April’s doctor.
Rob Kerkovich (NCIS: New Orleans) as Graham, Dominic’s roommate and Beth’s ex-boyfriend.
Vondie Curtis-Hall (Justified: City Primeval) as Lawrence, the boss at The Boston Post.
Tom Irwin (Devious Maids and The Morning Show as Thomas Carver, April, Brenna and Natalie’s father and George’s brother.
