Advanced Preview: The Legend of 5 Mile Cave

The 2019 western movie The Legend of 5 Mile Cave will air on INSP, the American digital cable and satellite TV channel that features family entertainment programming, on June 11 at 3 PM.

Set in 1929, the film stars Firefly, The Last Ship and Chuck alum Adam Baldwin as a mysterious drifter named Sam Barnes, who rents a room at the soon-to-be-foreclosed farm of widow Susan Tilwicky (Jill Wagner from Teen Wolf and the Mystery 101 film franchise from Hallmark Movies & Mysteries) where he enchants her young son, Tommy (Jet Jurgensmeyer from American Sniper and Last Man Standing), with tales from the Old West, something that young Tommy loves, given his penchant for reading dime story novels about gunslingers.

Sam regales Tommy with the adventurous story of “Shooter Green” (played in flashbacks by Jeremy Sumpter from 2003’s Peter Pan and the TV version of Friday Night Lights), a legendary gunslinger, who was accused of Arizona’s biggest gold robbery. Soon enough, young Tommy begins to believe that Sam knows a little too much about the robbery; especially when a crooked lawman, Sheriff John ‘Doc’ Small (William Shockley from Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman) shows up on the trail of the stolen gold.

As past and present begin to collide, secrets are revealed; and those secrets just might save the Tilwicky farm.

If you are a fan of Adam Baldwin or Jill Wagner, you will enjoy seeing them in a different light in this western fare that harkens back to a time when a person’s word was their bond; when the times were a bit simpler (albeit not easier) and family ties ran very deep. If you enjoy Westerns, this will be right up your alley.

The cast includes Alexandria DeBerry (from Disney’s A.N.T. Farm), who plays the beautiful Josie Hayes, the woman who captures the heart of Shooter Green and Randy Wayne (from the ABC Family [now Freeform] series The Lying Game), who plays the younger version of John Small in flashbacks.
