My Top Choices for June TV

By  |

How is it that we are nearly into the month of June already? Doesn’t it seem like it was just January not that long ago, not nearly six months into the year?

Summer TV has a lot of options in store for viewers and out of all those options, the following are my top choices.

MOVIES, MOVIES, MOVIES

Unlike the last few months, I am actually looking forward to the movies for which Hallmark Channel will be airing throughout June. Those include:

  • The Greek Aisle on June 6 at 8 PM, starring Nikki DeLoach
  • Texas Two-Step on June 13 at 8 PM, starring Heather Hemmens and Brendan Penny
  • The Love Heist on June 20 at 8 PM, starring Lyndsy Fonseca and Peter Porte
  • A Castle of Our Own on June 27 at 8 PM, starring Brennan Elliott and Erica Cerra.

There will also be the new movie over on Netflix, Voicemails for Isabelle, on June 19 that stars Zoey Deutch as Jill, who leaves voice messages to her deceased sister (Ciara Bravo) telling her about her chaotic life in San Francisco. Unwittingly, a mysterious Austin real estate agent (Nick Robinson) begins to receive their confessions.

SERIES RETURNS

Then there are several dramas that will be back with new seasons, including:

Hudson & Rex on UP Faith & Family on June 11. The show will feature Luke Roberts taking over for long-time series star John Reardon; and while I was not pleased with how the folks behind the show handled the switch over to a new lead, I am curious to see how the show plays out with Roberts in the lead role.

Sweet Magnolias will be back for its fifth season on Netflix, also on June 11, and it will be great to see all the changes that are in store for our three leading ladies.

Patience, the PBS drama, based on the French series Astrid, will be back for its second season on June 14 at 8 PM.

COMING TO AN END

The following dramas are coming to an end this month with two of them just ending for the TV season while the other is ending for good:

  • Sugarcreek Amish Mysteries will air its season finale on June 11 on UPtv at 9 PM; and while this show is tepid at best in terms of action or thrills, it is a series that my late mother would have thoroughly enjoyed so I watch it in her honor.
  • The Way Home will air its final episode EVER, after four seasons, on the Hallmark Channel on June 21 at 9 PM.
  • Sullivan’s Crossing will air its season finale for its fourth season on the CW on June 22 at 8 PM; and those unaware, this rom-com series is based on the novel franchise by author Robyn Carr, who is the author of the Virgin River franchise, which has the popular long-running Netflix TV series of the same name.

Make sure to check out our June TV calendar that will go live this Thursday, which will feature the dramas, movies and specials that will air on cable TV and streaming services, and let us know what your top viewing choices are for next month.
