My Top Choices for June TV

By  |

This year has gone by so quickly, and June is just around the corner. It’s hard to imagine, right?

There are lots of viewing options on the major and cable networks as well as all the streaming services. You can see the full June TV calendar here, but out of all those dramas and movies, I have selected my top choices for the month.

FINALES

The final episodes of Superman & Lois and Gotham Knights will air on The CW on June 27 at 8 and 9 PM respectively. Given the current climate at the network and how much the new owners have decimated the schedule these could very well be the last episodes ever of both shows.

COMING BACK FOR MORE

The following shows will be back with new seasons:

With Love on Amazon on June 2
Manifest on Netflix on June 2 – this will be the last 10 episodes of the final season
Never Have I Ever on June 8 on Netflix – this will also be the final season
Outlander on Starz on June 16 at 8 PM
The Witcher on Netflix on June 29 – this will be the start of the final season starring Henry Cavill
Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan on June 30 on Amazon

NEW DRAMAS

The Marvel Universe welcomes the new drama Secret Invasion on Disney+ on June 21. Set in the present day MCU, Nick Fury learns of a clandestine invasion of Earth by a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls. Fury joins his allies, including Everett Ross, Maria Hill and the Skrull Talos, who has made a life for himself on Earth. Together they race against time to thwart an imminent Skrull invasion and save humanity.

Idris Elba and Archie Panjabi will star in the new action series Hijack on Apple TV+ on June 28. Told in real time, this thriller follows the journey of a hijacked plane as it makes its way to London over a seven hour flight and authorities on the ground scramble for answers.

MOVIES, MOVIES, MOVIES

There are plenty of new movies debuting next month. The following are my top picks:

The Dancing Detective: A Deadly Tango on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries on June 2 at 9 PM, starring Lacey Chabert and Will Kemp in a story about an undercover detective who has to pretend to be a ballroom dancer in order to figure out how a high-profile CEO was murdered.

Chris Hemsworth reprises his role as Tyler Rake in the sequel movie Extraction 2 on Netflix on June 16, that finds Rake back from the brink of death, taking on another dangerous mission.

The Netflix movie The Perfect Find on June 23, stars an impressive cast, including Gabrielle Union, Gina Torres, D.B. Woodside, Aisha Hinds and Keith Powers, in a story about a woman’s career comeback after a high-profile firing, and the secret romance she has with her new boss’s son.

Using her favorite online handle, Rueben is an East Coast-bred gal who is now a permanent Californian and a lifelong tv-oholic. She watches at least 25 TV shows a week, goes to the movies as often as possible, listens to music every waking moment, reads every day and “plays” on the internet every chance she can. Some of her current favorite TV shows are Outlander, Sweet Magnolias, Wednesday, The Mandalorian, The Equalizer, Fire Country, Miss Scarlet, Hudson & Rex, SkyMed, The Rookie, Cobra Kai, Virgin River, The Witcher, Leverage: Redemption and School Spirits. She is looking forward to the long-awaited return of Bridgerton, is curious about the debut of Orphan Black: Echoes and the 3rd and final season of Sweet Tooth coming in June, and the season finales of the abbreviated 2023-2024 TV season.
