My Top Choices for April TV

It’s nearly time for April TV, and I wanted to share my top choices for the month.

First let’s start with the shows that will be airing their final episodes, some are just coming to a close for the season while a couple are ending for good:

The season finale of Quantum Leap on April 3 at 10 PM on NBC
The series finale of Sanditon on April 23 at 9 PM on PBS
The season finale of Perry Mason on Apirl 24 at 9 PM on HBO
The series finale of Firefly Lane on Netflix on April 27

Then there are the shows that are coming back with new seasons. They include:

The ensemble cast of the musical comedy Schmigadoon! is back for a second season on Apple TV+ starting on April 5. But this time it’s called Schmicago! and will be much darker, covering the world of 60s and 70s musicals.

The final episodes of the fourth and last season of Titans will air on HBO Max on April 13.

The much-anticipated sophomore season of Sweet Tooth will premiere on Netflix on April 27.

Up next are the new dramas that will air throughout the month:

Jennifer Garner is back in action on the Apple TV+ limited series The Last Thing He Told Me starting on April 14. The series is based on the acclaimed New York Times bestselling novel by Laura Dave that follows Hannah (Garner), a woman who must forge a relationship with her sixteen-year-old stepdaughter Bailey (Angourie Rice) in order to find the truth about why her husband (Game of Thrones alum Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) has mysteriously disappeared. The cast includes, Aisha Tyler, Geoff Stults and John Harlan Kim.

On April 28, the new Amazon drama Citadel will debut its first two episodes. Eight years ago, Citadel fell. The independent global spy agency – tasked to uphold the safety and security of all people – was destroyed by operatives of Manticore, a powerful syndicate manipulating the world from the shadows. With Citadel’s fall, elite agents Mason Kane (Richard Madden) and Nadia Sinh (Priyanka Chopra Jonas) had their memories wiped as they narrowly escaped with their lives. They’ve remained hidden ever since, building new lives under new identities, unaware of their pasts. Until one night, when Mason is tracked down by his former Citadel colleague, Bernard Orlick (Stanley Tucci), who desperately needs his help to prevent Manticore from establishing a new world order. Mason seeks out his former partner, Nadia, and the two spies embark on a mission that takes them around the world in an effort to stop Manticore, all while contending with a relationship built on secrets, lies, and a dangerous-yet-undying love.

Then we have the feature films will debut on streaming, including:

On a Wing and a Prayer on April 7 on Amazon. After their pilot dies unexpectedly mid-flight, Doug White’s (Dennis Quaid) has to safely land a plane and save his entire family from insurmountable danger. The cast includes Heather Graham, Jesse Metcalfe and Brandon Quinn.

Ghosted on April 21 on Apple TV+. Salt-of-the-earth Cole (Chris Evans) falls head over heels for enigmatic Sadie (Ana de Armas), but then he makes the shocking discovery that she is a secret agent. Before they can decide on a second date, Cole and Sadie are swept away on an international adventure to save the world. The film also stars Adrian Brody, Amy Sedaris and Tate Donovan.

A Tourist’s Guide to Love on Netflix on April 27. Work brings an American travel executive (Rachael Leigh Cook) to Vietnam, where a free-spirited tour guide (Scott Ly) helps open her eyes to a beautifully adventurous way of life. Missi Pyle also stars.

Peter Pan & Wendy on Disney+ on April 28. Wendy Darling (newcomer Ever Anderson), a young girl afraid to leave her childhood home behind, meets Peter Pan (Alexander Molony), a boy who refuses to grow up. Alongside her brothers and a tiny fairy, Tinker Bell, she travels with Peter to the magical world of Neverland. There, she encounters an evil pirate captain, Captain Hook (Jude Law), and embarks on a thrilling adventure that will change her life forever. The cast includes Alan Tudyk, Molly Parker, Yara Shahidi and Jim Gaffigan.

Lastly, there are the made-for-TV movies that will air under the Hallmark banner. including some of their Spring Into Love movies:

The Blessing Bracelet on April 9 at 7 PM on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, starring Amanda Schull and Carlo Marks.

The Wedding Cottage on the Hallmark Channel at 8 PM on April 15, starring Erin Krakow and Brendan Penny.

A Pinch of Portugal on the Hallmark Channel on April 22 at 8 PM, starring Heather Hemmens and Luke Mitchell.

Hearts in the Game on the Hallmark Channel at 8 PM on April 29, starring Erin Cahill and Marco Grazzini.
