A Million Little Things Roundtable: “stay”

By  |

After a two week break, A Million Little Things returned with another new episode from its fourth season on ABC.

Here is the official synopsis for the episode (season 4, episode 7) entitled “stay”:

Gary and Camden step in to support Maggie as more cryptic letters pour into the radio station. Regina continues to work through her relationship with her father while Eddie helps Sophie prepare for an audition. Katherine goes on her first official date post-divorce.

Nice Girls Cay and Rueben share their thoughts on this episode [spoiler alert]:

Rueben:

So let’s get this straight: Maggie’s stalker could very well be a former client of hers, but the person has been dead for 3 years! What the hell?! Explain that revelation to me?! You just know that since the next new episode is going to be the winter finale, that we are going to be left with a cliffhanger on this situation. I did like that Maggie called Gary while the boyfriend was out of town, asking for Colin to visit, and then asking him to stay. I also knew that it was going to be Colin in the bed with her and not Gary.

Of course Eddie has a “meet cute” with Anna, Peter’s ex-wife, and she’s noticed him at the store where she works, and thought he was cute. A relationship between them would just be so wrong because of Sophie, but at least Anna apologized to Sophie, telling her that she believes her. That conversation obviously inspired Sophie to write a song, a song I’m sure she’s going to use for her audition at the school she wanted to go to. Let’s hope this is the start of a better path for Sophie and her future.

I felt bad for Katherine that her “first pancake” didn’t work out. When her date said she was going to the bathroom, before they even got any food, I just knew was going to get ditched. Hopefully that won’t deter Katherine, though. Katherine’s assistant, helping her out with what to wear and the aftermath of the failed date, was priceless.

I just knew that Rome was going to reach out to Cassandra; it doesn’t make sense to introduce her into his story, only to not have her featured more. And, of course, she’s an attorney – or at least that’s what I’m assuming – and she was able to get Rome’s movie back for him. But: 1) I was not pleased by his agent dropping him (just such a typical Hollywood reaction) and 2) that Cassandra is going to drive some kind of wedge between Regina (who finally came home!!) and Rome.

The winter finale is definitely going to be interesting to watch!

Cay:

When the show first started, they had a good mystery regarding what really happened with Jon and what his assistant was up to, etc. It seems like they have been trying to recapture that but haven’t really succeeded yet. We’ve gotten “did Eddie really kill his friend?” “who hit Eddie” and now “who is Maggie’s [dead] stalker?”. I guess we’ll have to withhold the verdict on the latter until it plays out, but the others didn’t have the heft of the original first season plot!

I really hope that Cam is not going to turn out to be a tool! So far, so good, but it just seems like they are now going to try to push Maggie and Gary back together. It is kind of funny that Gary is caught between his idol and the one that got away.

Ugh, really, the Boston metro area is not that small that Peter’s ex happens to run into Eddie! I guess they needed some way for Sophie to find out that she believed her and that she had turned on Peter. So, I hope with that accomplished, that we’re done with her forever. It would be nice to see Sophie get in and move forward with her life. It would be a nice final kiss off to Peter for her to get in with help from an ex-rocker rather than a classically trained pervert.

I had a hard time caring all that much about Katherine’s date, but I do think leaving without saying anything is really not a cool move. Her date seemed to be having fun up until that point. I could understand being offended by Katherine being embarrassed to hold her hand, but she couldn’t have handled a meal and then told her she wasn’t interested in a second date? We’ve all sat through worse dates because it was the right thing to do.

It’s kind of hard to imagine Regina’s mom with her dad. I find myself wondering where he was when her uncle molested her? Maybe paying attention to everyone else and not his own daughter? I’m with Rueben that we do not need any wedges driven between Rome and Regina and Cassandra certainly seems there to do just that.
