The following list provides the dates of the new dramas that will air on streaming services as well as the major and cable networks and the made-for-TV movies and more that will air during January.

January 1 – The Doctor Who special presentation Revolution of the Daleks will air on BBC America at 8 PM

Special Presentation Synopsis: The special will see the return of the Daleks. The Doctor is locked away in a high-security alien prison. Isolated, alone, with no hope of escape. Far away, on Earth, her best friends, Yaz, Ryan and Graham have to pick up their lives without her. But it’s not easy. Old habits die hard. Especially when they discover a disturbing plan forming. A plan which involves a Dalek. How can you fight a Dalek, without the Doctor? John Barrowman will be back as Captain Jack Harkness; this will be the swan song for companions Ryan and Graham (aka Tosin Cole and Bradley Walsh) and Chris Noth will return as unscrupulous business tycoon Jack Robertson.

January 2 – The Hallmark Channel movie Taking a Shot at Love will debut at 9 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Former professional ballet dancer Jenna (Alexa PenaVega) works with NHL star Ryan Cooper (Luke Macfarlane) to help him recover from an injury using ballet as therapy, and as they grow close, he helps her mend her injured heart. But when it’s time for Ryan to return to the ice and leave Jenna and her small, Connecticut town, they both must consider the paths they want to take and just maybe, love will find its way.

January 3 – The season finale of Power Book II: Ghost will air on Starz at 8 PM

January 3 – The series debut of the BBC America fantasy The Watch will debut at 8 PM

Show Synopsis: Inspired by the characters created by Sir Terry Pratchett’s famous “Discworld” novels, the fantasy police procedural follows a group of misfit cops as they rise up from decades of helplessness to save their corrupt city from catastrophe. The misfit cops include the captain of The City Watch Sam Vimes (Richard Dormer from Game of Thrones), the last scion of nobility Lady Sybil Ramkin (Lara Rossi from I May Destroy You), the naïve but heroic Carrot (Adam Hugill from 1917), the mysterious Angua (Marama Corlett from Blood Drive) and the ingenious forensics expert Cheery (Jo Eaton-Kent) together with The Watch’s own idiosyncratic depiction of Death (Wendell Pierce from The Wire).

January 3 – NCIS: Los Angeles and NCIS: New Orleans will return from their winter breaks on CBS at the special times of 8:30 and 9:30 PM respectively

January 3 – The season premiere of The Rookie will air at 10 PM on ABC

January 3 – The original 2-hour film Elizabeth Is Missing will debut on PBS at 9 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Legendary actress Glenda Jackson (A Touch of Class) plays a woman in the grip of dementia, searching for her missing friend.

January 4 – All Rise and Bull will be back from their winter breaks on CBS at 9 and 10 PM respectively

January 5 – The season premiere of Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist will air on NBC at 8 PM followed by the return of This Is Us at 9 PM and the new drama Nurses moves to its new night (Tuesdays) at 10 PM

January 6 – The winter returns of Chicago Med, Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D. will air on NBC at 8, 9 and 10 PM respectively

January 7 – The new drama Coyote will debut online on CBS All Access today

Show Synopsis: The show focuses on Ben Clemens (Michael Chiklis), who after 32 years as a border patrol agent is forced to work for the very people he spent his career trying to keep out of America. Now exposed to life on the other side of the wall, Ben will start to question his black and white views of the world, challenging his ideology and his loyalties. The ensemble cast includes Mark Feuerstein, Natalia Cordova-Buckley, Drew Powell, Jose Pablo Cantillo, Juan Pablo Raba, Kelli Williams and Amy Forsyth (among others).

January 7 – The Netflix movie Pieces of a Woman will debut online today

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Martha and Sean Carson (Vanessa Kirby and Shia LaBeouf) are a Boston couple on the verge of parenthood whose lives change irrevocably during a home birth at the hands of a flustered midwife, who faces charges of criminal negligence. Thus begins a year-long odyssey for Martha, who must navigate her grief while working through fractious relationships with her husband and her domineering mother, along with the publicly vilified midwife whom she must face in court. The cast includes Molly Parker, Sarah Snook, Iliza Shlesinger and Ellen Burstyn.

January 7 – The season finale of Star Trek: Discovery will air online on CBS All Access

January 7 – The winter premiere of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit will air on NBC at 9 PM

January 8 – The Amazon movie Herself will debut online today

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Single mother Sandra (Clare Dunne) has been struggling to get by with her two young daughters. After the housing system refuses to give her a new home, Sandra decides to build her own with the help of a friendly community and a handful of new friends. With this new purpose, Sandra rediscovers herself: that is until her abusive ex-husband sues her for custody of the children. The cast includes Conleth Hill (Game of Thrones).

January 8 – The second season premiere of the Apple TV+ drama Dickinson will air online today

January 8 – The third season of Cobra Kai will premiere online on Netflix today

January 8 – MacGyver, Magnum P.I. and Blue Bloods will return from their winter breaks on CBS at 8, 9 and 10 PM respectively

January 8 – The final season of 800 Words will premiere on UPtv at 9 PM

January 9 – The second season of A Discovery of Witches will premiere on Sundance Now online today

January 9 – The Hallmark Channel movie A New Year’s Resolution will debut at 9 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: When a morning show producer makes a New Year’s resolution to say yes more, she (Aimee Teegarden) crosses paths with a confirmed Yes man (Michael Rady) who just might hold the key to her biggest story and to her heart.

January 10 – The UPtv movie Blueprint to the Heart will premiere at 7 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: A talented host and designer of a high-end renovation television show (Laura Mitchell) is forced to change her show format to include life makeovers as well after her ratings dip. However, when she tries to upscale the handsome and down-to-Earth subject (Dennis Andres) of her first episode, she must choose between chasing ratings or following her heart. The cast includes Clayton James and Crystal Balint.

January 10 – American Gods will return for the start of its third season on Starz at 8 PM

January 10 – NCIS: Los Angeles and NCIS: New Orleans will air on CBS at the special time of 9 and 10 PM respectively

January 10 – The PBS 7-part drama All Creatures Great and Small will debut at 9 PM

Show Synopsis: Based on the beloved best-selling books, the story follows James Herriot (newcomer Nicholas Ralph) at the start of his storied career in rural Yorkshire in the 1930s. The cast includes the late great Dame Diana Rigg, Samuel West, Rachel Shenton, Anna Madeley, Callum Woodhouse and Matthew Lewis.

January 11 – The Good Doctor returns from its winter break on ABC at 10 PM

January 12 – The CW will debut the Canadian transplant series Trickster at 9 PM

Show Synopsis: Based on the best-selling novel, the series follows Jared (newcomer Joel Oulette), an Indigenous teen struggling to keep his dysfunctional family above water, but when he starts seeing strange things – talking ravens, doppelgängers, skin monsters – his already chaotic life is turned upside down. The cast includes Crystle Lightning, Kalani Queypo, Anna Lambe, Joel Thomas Hynes, Craig Lauzon, Gail Maurice and Georgina Lightning.

January 12 – The season premieres of The Resident and Prodigal Son will air on FOX at 8 and 9 PM respectively

January 13 – Both SEAL Team and S.W.A.T. will return from their winter breaks on CBS at 9 and 10 PM respectively

January 15 – The Amazon movie One Night in Miami will debut online today

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: The first feature film directed by actress Regina King is about a fictionalized meeting of Malcolm X (Kingsley Ben-Adir), Muhammad Ali (Eli Goree), Jim Brown (Aldis Hodge) and Sam Cooke (Leslie Odom Jr.) in a Miami hotel room in February 1964, celebrating Ali’s surprise title win over Sonny Liston. The cast includes Lance Riddick, Nicolette Robinson, Michael Imperioli, Beau Bridges and Christopher Gorham.

January 15 – The Hulu feature film The Ultimate Playlist of Noise will debut online today

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: The film follows Marcus (Keean Johnson), an audio obsessed high school senior who learns he must undergo brain surgery that will render him deaf. He decides to seize control of his fate by recording the Ultimate Playlist of Noise – a bucket list of all his favorite sounds. Once he sets out, he meets Wendy (Madeline Brewer), a wildly charming, struggling musician who is trying to escape to New York for her chance at a life-changing opportunity. Together they check off his list as they make their way across the country, until painful revelations force Marcus to face reality and his future without sound.

January 15 – The second season of the Apple TV+ drama Servant will premiere online today

January 15 – The Netflix movie Outside the Wire will debut online today

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: In the near future, a drone pilot (Damson Idris) sent into a war zone finds himself paired with a top-secret android officer (Anthony Mackie) on a mission to stop a nuclear attack. The cast includes Michael Kelly and Emily Beecham.

January 15 – The long-in-the-waiting Marvel drama WandaVision will finally debut on Disney+ today

Show Synopsis: Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) are two super-powered beings, who are living idealized suburban lives, but begin to suspect everything is not as it seems. The cast includes Kat Dennings, Kathryn Hahn, Randall Park and Teyonah Parris.

January 16 – The Hallmark Channel movie Two for the Win will debut at 9 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: A world champion ski racer and local ski instructor find romance on the slopes as he returns home and prepares for the biggest race of his life. The movie stars Charlotte Sullivan and Trevor Donovan.

January 17 – The UPtv movie The Baby Proposal will debut at 7 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Layla Bennett (Alexandra Chando) has it all figured out: her own place, a thriving career and a loving fiancé. She co-hosts morning show Wake Up Chicago! alongside her charming but sometimes irritating colleague Derek Dray (Mike Merrill). They have different working styles. She likes to be spontaneous and improvise on air, while he’s more of a stick to the script guy. When they’re given the bombshell of caring for a baby together, it’s their worst nightmare. But as they juggle night feeds and nap times with their hectic lives, they can’t deny the growing chemistry. Is this unexpected arrival all they needed to realize they were meant to be?

January 17 – The CW will premiere the 2nd season of Batwoman at 8 PM with God Friended Me actress Javicia Leslie taking over the lead role

January 17 – The 6-part PBS series Miss Scarlet & the Duke will debut at 8 PM

Show Synopsis: Go on the case with private eye Eliza Scarlet (Kate Phillips), Victorian England’s first-ever female sleuth, as she solves crimes – and sometimes flirts – with her partner and childhood friend, Detective Inspector William “The Duke” Wellington (Stuart Martin). The cast includes Kevin Doyle and Andrew Gower (among others).

January 17 – The Hallmark Movies & Mysteries movie Ships in the Night: A Martha’s Vineyard Mystery will debut at 8 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: When an art gallery robbery leads to the death of the contemptible gallery manager, former Boston detective Jeff Jackson (Jesse Metcalfe) teams up with local Doctor – and old flame – Dr. Zee Madeiras (Sarah Lind), to catch the killer.

January 18 – The FOX dramas 9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Lone Star will premiere at 8 and 9 PM respectively

January 18 – The CW drama All American will air its season premiere at 8 PM

January 19 – NCIS will return from its winter break with back-to-back episodes at 8 and 9 PM followed by the return of FBI: Most Wanted at 10 PM on CBS

January 20 – The fourth season of C.B. Strike: Lethal White will premiere on HBO Max and HBO at 10 PM

January 20 – Riverdale and Nancy Drew will both air their season premieres on The CW at 8 and 9 PM respectively

January 21 – The Sundance Now drama The Commons will air its season finale online today

January 21 – The new drama Walker will debut on The CW at 8 PM followed by the season premiere of Legacies at 9 PM

Show Synopsis (Walker): Supernatural alum Jared Padalecki stars as Cordell Walker, a widower and father of two with his own moral code, who returns home to Austin after being undercover for two years, only to discover there’s harder work to be done at home. He’ll attempt to reconnect with his creative and thoughtful son (Kale Culley) and his headstrong, somewhat rebellious teen-aged daughter (Violet Brinson) and navigate clashes with his family: an ADA brother (Keegan Allen) who stepped in during Walker’s absence, his perceptive mother (Molly Hagen) and his traditional rancher father (Mitch Pileggi). The cast includes Coby Bell, Lindsey Morgan and Jeff Pierre.

January 22 – The Netflix movie The White Tiger will debut online today

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: The movie focuses on an ambitious Indian driver, who uses his wit and cunning to escape from poverty and rise to the top. The most recognizable face in the cast is Priyanka Chopra.

January 22 – The limited series The Sister will debut on Hulu today

Show Synopsis: One rainy evening, Nathan (Russell Tovey) is surprised by an unwelcome face from the past. Nathan has never been able to forget the worst night of his life: a party that led to the sudden, shocking death of a young woman. Only he and Bob (Bertie Carvel), an eccentric old acquaintance, know what really happened and they’ve resolved to keep it that way. But years later, Bob appears at Nathan’s door with terrifying news that threatens to tear Nathan’s world apart. Because Nathan has his own secrets now. Secrets that could destroy everything he has desperately fought to build for himself and his family.

January 22 – The Blacklist will be back from its extended break on NBC at 8 PM

January 22 – The new Netflix fantasy 6-episode series Fate: The Winx Saga will debut online today

Show Synopsis: The series is a live-action adaptation of Nickelodeon’s 2004 animated series Winx Club, which follows Bloom (Abigail Cowen from Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) as she adjusts to life in the Otherworld (a boarding school for fairies), where she must learn to control her dangerous magical powers. The cast includes Robert James-Collier (Downton Abbey) and a slew of newcomers.

January 23 – The Lifetime original telefilm Salt-N-Pepa will debut at 8 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: The movie details the journey of Queensborough Community College students Cheryl “Salt” James (GG Townson) and Sandra “Pepa” Denton (Laila Odom) as they enter the world of rap and hip hop, after recording a song for their friend Hurby Azor (Cleveland Berto). Monique Paul stars as DJ Spinderella and Jermel Howard as Treach.

January 23 – The Hallmark Channel movie A Winter Getaway will debut at 9 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: When an average guy (Brooks Darnell) is gifted a luxury trip, he is mistaken for a millionaire. He and the concierge (Nazneen Contractor), who is making this once in a lifetime trip happen, end up hitting it off after spending time together. Will she feel the same way about him when she learns the truth?

January 24 – The UPtv movie Romance Retreat will debut at 7 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: After a big breakup, journalist Dana Willingham (Amanda Schull) finds herself alone and stuck at a couple’s yoga retreat while the biggest story of her career breaks far away. And she doesn’t even like yoga! But maybe the universe has put her here for a reason, because the handsome loner (Morgan David Jones) staying at the lodge turns out to be Stefan Gonzales, the tech guru at the center of the scandal. As she gains his trust to expose him, she finds herself falling in love with him. Now she must use the lessons from yoga to choose: the perfect story or the perfect man? The cast includes Eric Hicks and Patrice Goodman.

January 24 – The EPIX drama Bridge and Tunnel will debut at 9 PM

Show Synopsis: The six, half-hour episodes, set in 1980, revolve around a group of recent college grads setting out to pursue their dreams in Manhattan while still clinging to the familiarity of their working-class Long Island home town. The cast includes Ed Burns, Caitlin Stasey, Sam Vartholmeos, Gigi Zumbado, JanLuis Castellanos, Brian Muller and Isabella Farrell.

January 24 – The season premiere of Charmed will air on The CW at 9 PM

January 24 – Euphoria will air part 2 of its special presentation on HBO at 9 PM

January 24 – The winter premiere of FBI will air today on CBS at 10 PM (on a special night and time)

January 25 – The second season premiere of Snowpiercer will air on TNT at 9 PM

January 26 – The ABC new drama Big Sky will return from its winter break at 10:01 PM

January 27 – The box office movie Penguin Bloom will debut online on Netflix today

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: The movie tells the amazing true story of renewal that occurred when a woman whose life seemed shattered found hope and purpose in her family’s love — and in a bird on its own journey of recovery. The movie stars Naomi Watts, Jacki Weaver and Andrew Lincoln.

January 27 – The ABC drama For Life will return from its winter break at 10 PM

January 27 – The new Syfy drama Resident Alien will debut at 10 PM

Show Synopsis: Sci-fi favorite Alan Tudyk stars as Harry Vanderspeigle, an alien that crash lands on Earth and passes himself off as a small-town human doctor. Arriving with a secret mission to kill all humans, Harry starts off living a simple life, but things get a bit rocky when he’s roped into solving a local murder and realizes he needs to assimilate into his new world. The cast includes Corey Reynolds and Elizabeth Bowen.

January 29 – The Apple TV+ movie Palmer will debut online today

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Justin Timberlake stars as Eddie Palmer, a former college football star, who saw his professional career shattered after he was imprisoned. He returns to his hometown after spending time in prison only to find trouble hounding him from his past. He then forms an unlikely friendship with a boy who was abandoned by his mother. While caring for him, Eddie also meets and starts a relationship with teacher Maggie (Alisha Wainwright). The cast includes June Squibb and Juno Temple.

January 29 – The film The Dig will debut online on Netflix

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: The film depicts the discovery of the Sutton Hoo burial site (a wooden ship from the Dark Ages) by Basil Brown, an excavator (Ralph Fiennes) and his team on the property of Edith Pretty (Carey Mulligan). The cast includes Lily James, Johnny Flynn and Ben Chaplin.

January 29 – The HBO Max movie The Little Things will debut online today

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: The feature film that is debuting on the small screen instead is about clashes between a Kern County deputy and a Los Angeles detective occur during the investigation of a murder. The megawatt cash includes Denzel Washington, Rami Malek and Jared Leto as well as Sofia Vassileva, Terry Kinney, Natalie Morales, John Harlan Kim, Chris Bauer and Tom Hughes.

January 29 – The Netflix movie Finding ‘Ohana will debut online today

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: The movie follows two Brooklyn-raised siblings who connect with their heritage during a summer in Oahu, when a journal pointing to long-lost treasure sets them on an epic adventure with new friends. Newcomers Alex Aiono and Kea Peahu make their acting debuts in the movie alongside Kelly Hu and Branscombe Richmond.

January 30 – The Hallmark Channel movie Snowkissed will debut at 9 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: New Yorker Kate (Jen Lilley), who never leaves Manhattan, travels to Canada for a writing assignment where she unwillingly finds herself on a tour of the great outdoors with an adventurous tour guide, Noah (Chris McNally).

January 31 – The UPtv movie Love Is a Piece of Cake will debut at 7 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Jessie Dale (Lindsey Gort) is a third generation baker who loves her cake shop more than anything in the world. When developers threaten to buy her building and force her out, she must do all she can to save her bakery, all while juggling a blossoming romance with her client’s brother (Greyston Holt).

January 31 – The 63rd Annual Grammy Awards will air on CBS at 8 PM [NOTE: The awards show has been postponed. It will air on March 14.]

January 31 – The PBS 3-part series The Long Song will debut at 10 PM

Show Synopsis: Based on a novel by Andrea Levy, this series is set during the final days of slavery in 19th century Jamaica. It follows the hardships and survival of plantation slave July (Tamara Lawrence) and her odious mistress Caroline (Hayley Atwell). The cast includes Jack Lowden.
