September TV Calendar

The following list provides the dates of the new dramas that will air on streaming services as well as the major and cable networks and the made-for-TV movies and more that will all air during September.

NOTE: Please keep in mind that any of the following could easily change because of the COVID-19 pandemic that has altered our lives and TV production permanently.

September 1 – The hit Canadian medical drama Transplant will debut on NBC at 10 PM

Show Synopsis: The series centers on Dr. Bashir “Bash” Hamed (Hamza Haq from Quantico), a Syrian doctor with battle-tested skills in emergency medicine who fled his country with his younger sister, Amira. Together they struggle to build a new life in Canada as Bash strives to rebuild his career in medicine. The cast includes John Hannah (The Mummy franchise) and Torri Higginson (Stargate: Atlantis).

September 3 – The new Netflix movie Love, Guaranteed will debut online today

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: It follows Susan (Rachael Leigh Cook), an earnest attorney who has taken one too many pro bono cases. She begrudgingly takes a high-paying, high-profile case from Nick (Damon Wayans Jr.), a charming new client who wants to sue a dating website that guarantees users will find love. Susan and Nick soon find themselves in the middle of a media storm, and as the case heats up, so do their feelings for each other — which could jeopardize everything. The movie also stars Heather Graham.

September 3 – The new 10-episode HBO Max drama Raised by Wolves will debut online today

Show Synopsis: The series centers on two androids tasked with raising human children on a mysterious virgin planet. As the burgeoning colony of humans threatens to be torn apart by religious differences, the androids learn that controlling the beliefs of humans is a treacherous and difficult task. The series stars mostly newcomers along with Vikings alum Travis Fimmel.

September 4 – The second season of The Boys will premiere on Amazon today

September 4 – Netflix will debut the new 10-episode drama Away online today

Show Synopsis: As she embarks on a treacherous mission to Mars commanding an international crew, Emma Green (Hilary Swank) must leave her husband and teen daughter behind. The series also stars Ato Essandoh and Josh Charles.

September 5 – The season finale of The Code will air on Ovation at 7 PM

September 5 – The new movie A Chance In The World will debut on Bounce TV at 7 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: The movie is the true, inspiring and unbelievable story of Steve Pemberton (Terrell Ransom, Jr.), an orphaned boy who endures the abuse of his foster parents (Kelly Owens and Lawrence-Hilton Jacobs) and siblings. While searching for his biological family, he meets a caring teacher (Tom Sizemore) who will change the course of his life.

September 6 – The spin-off series Power Book II: Ghost will debut on Starz at 9 PM

Show Synopsis: The drama picks up from the Power finale, following Tariq (Michael Rainey, Jr.) as he navigates his new life, in which his desire to shed his father’s legacy comes up against the mounting pressure to save his family. The cast includes Mary J. Blige, Melanie Liburd, Method Man, Naturi Naughton, Shalim Ortiz and Sherri Saum.

NOTE: The show will move to its regular time slot of 8 PM starting next week.

September 9 – All of the 13 episodes of the second season of L.A.’s Finest will air on Spectrum Originals (for those who have Spectrum cable service)

September 10 – The new Netflix series Julie and the Phantoms will debut online today

Show Synopsis: Teenager Julie (Madison Reyes) finds her passion for music and life while helping the Phantoms — a trio of ghostly guys (Charlie Gillespie, Jeremy Shada and Owen Patrick Joyner) — become the band they were never able to be. The cast includes Booboo Stewart, Carlos Ponce and Cheyenne Jackson.

September 12 – The 4-part mini-series Secret State will debut on Ovation at 7 PM

Show Synopsis: Based on the Chris Mullins novel, the mini-series explores the relationship between a democratically elected government, big business, and the banks. Gabriel Byrne (The Usual Suspects) stars as Deputy Prime Minister Tom Dawkins, who’s thrust to the fore by catastrophic events, and ends up forced to take on the might of the Establishment. Charles Dance (Game of Thrones) stars as John Hodder MP, the Chief Whip, while Ruth Negga (Preacher) stars as intelligence analyst Agnes Evans.

September 13 – We Hunt Together will air its season finale on Showtime at 10 PM

September 13 – The UPtv movie Same Time, Next Week will debut at 7 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: When widow Christy (Jewel Staite) meets widower Charlie (Travis Milne), they find that they have a lot more in common than their lost loved ones. Their friendship turns to romance as they each struggle to let go of the past and give love a second chance. The cast includes Chris McNally.

September 14 – The 6-episode limited drama Third Day will debut on HBO at 9 PM followed by the debut the 8-episode new drama We Are Who We Are at 10 PM

Show Synopsis (Third Day): The first three episodes are called “Summer” and the latter three episodes are called “Winter.” Jude Law stars in “Summer” as Sam, a man who is drawn to a mysterious island off the British coast where he encounters a group of islanders set on preserving their traditions at any cost. Isolated from the mainland, Sam is unable to leave the idyllic and dangerously enchanting world he has discovered, where the secretive rituals of its inhabitants bring him to grapple with experiences of loss and trauma hidden in his past through the distorted lens of the present. As boundaries between fantasy and reality fragment, his quest to unlock the truth leads the islanders to reveal a shocking secret. In “Winter” Naomie Harris (from the box office film Moonlight) as Helen, a strong-willed outsider who comes to the island seeking answers, but whose arrival precipitates a fractious battle to decide its fate as the lines between fantasy and fact are distorted. The series also stars Katherine Waterston and Emily Watson.

Show Synopsis (We Are Who We Are): The series tells the story of two American kids (Jack Dylan Grazer and Jordan Kristine Seamon), who live on a U.S. military base in Italy, the series explores friendship, first-love, identity, and immerses the audience in all the messy exhilaration and anguish of being a teenager. The drama also stars Alice Braga and Chloe Sevigny.

September 16 – The Netflix film The Devil All the Time will debut online today

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Set in Ohio between the end of World War II and the beginning of the Vietnam War, the film follows a non-linear storyline of various disturbed people who suffer from the damages of the post-war, and crime. The ensemble cast includes Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Sebastian Stan, Jason Clarke, Bill Skarsgard, Mia Wasikowska, Riley Keough, Haley Bennett and Eliza Scanlen.

September 16 – The 55th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards will debut on CBS at 8 PM

September 17 – The new Peacock drama Departure will debut online today

Show Synopsis: Passenger plane Flight 716 shockingly vanishes, and brilliant investigator Kendra Malley (Archie Panjabi from The Good Wife), alongside her mentor Howard Lawson (veteran actor Christopher Plummer) are brought on to lead the investigation. When battling forces threaten to undermine their work, Kendra must find the truth and stop it from happening again. The series also stars Kris Holden-Reid (The Umbrella Academy and Lost Girl), Rebecca Liddiard (Frankie Drake Mysteries), Peter Mensah (Midnight, Texas) and Sasha Roiz (Grimm and Suits).

September 18 – The new Netflix series Ratched will debut online today

Show Synopsis: In this prequel series to the classic box office movie One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, the series follows Nurse Rateched (Sarah Paulson) on her journey and evolution from nurse to full-fledged monster. The ensemble cast includes Cynthia Nixon, Corey Stoll, Judy Davis, Amanda Plummer, Rosanna Arquette, Hunter Parrish, Finn Wittrock, Charlie Carver and Sharon Stone.

September 19 – The Hallmark Channel movie Follow Me to Daisy Hills will air at 9 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: When Jo realizes that her family’s general store in Daisy Hills is losing money, her father Duke calls in a favor to help. Duke’s help is Jo’s ex-boyfriend, Blake, former Daisy Hills native. The film stars Cindy Busby and Marshall Williams.

September 20 – The movie Cookie Mobster will debut on UPtv at 7 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: After finding himself in the witness relocation program, a reformed mobster (Rick Malambri) comes to the aid of a local girl scout troop and starts falling for one of the single mothers. The film also stars Pippa Black, Mackenzie Foy and Lainie Kazan.

September 20 – The 72nd Annual Emmy Awards will air on ABC at 8 PM

September 21 – FOX will debut the Spectrum Originals drama L.A.’s Finest at 8 PM followed by the debut of the new series Filthy Rich at 9 PM

Show Synopsis (L.A.’s Finest): The show follows Syd Burnett (Gabrielle Union), last seen in Miami taking down a drug cartel, who has seemingly left her complicated past behind to become an LAPD detective. Paired with a new partner, Nancy McKenna (Jessica Alba), a working mom with an equally complex history, Syd is forced to confront how her unapologetic lifestyle may be masking a greater personal secret. The cast includes Zach Gilford, Ryan McPartlin, Duane Martin, Sophie Reynolds and Ernie Hudson.

Show Synopsis (Filthy Rich): This is a southern Gothic family soap focusing on what happens when the patriarch (veteran actor Gerald McRaney) of a mega-rich Southern family – famed for creating a wildly successful Christian television network – dies in a plane crash, his wife (Kim Cattrall, who is also a producer on the show) and family are stunned to learn that he fathered three illegitimate children, all of whom are written into his will, threatening their family name and fortune. The cast includes Steve Harris and Aubrey Dollar.

September 21 – The Spectrum Original drama Manhunt: Deadly Games (from 2017-2018) will debut on CBS at 10 PM

Show Synopsis: The true crime anthology chronicles the aftermath of the terrorist attack at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, starring Cameron Britton (Stitchers and The Umbrella Academy), Jack Huston (Boardwalk Empire) and Carla Gugino.

September 23 – The season finale of season one of Coroner will air on The CW at 9 PM

September 23 – The Netflix movie Enola Holmes will debut online today

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: The film chronicles the adventures of Sherlock Holmes’ younger sister Enola (Millie Bobby Brown from Stranger Things), as she embarks on a quest to find her missing mother. Henry Cavill (Man of Steel) plays her brother, the legendary Sherlock Holmes and Sam Claflin (The Hunger Games franchise) plays her other brother Mycroft. Helena Bonham Carter plays Enola’s mother Eudoria Holmes. The cast also includes Fiona Shaw (the Harry Potter franchise) and Frances de la Tour (Outlander).

September 24 – Season 1 of Star Trek: Discovery will premiere on CBS at 10 PM

September 25 – The Disney+ movie Secret Society of Second-Born Royals will debut online today

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: The film follows Sam (Peyton Elizabeth Lee), a rebellious princess second in line to the throne of the kingdom of Illyria. Just as Sam’s lack of interest in the royal way of life is at an all-time high, she is stunned to learn that she has superpowers and belongs to a secret society with a longstanding tradition of covertly keeping the peace throughout the kingdom. The movie follows Sam’s adventures at a top-secret training program for a new class of second-born royals tasked with saving the world. The cast includes Skylar Astin, Elodie Yung, Niles Fitch, Ashley Liao, Noah Lomax, Olivia Deeble, Greg Bryk, Isabella Blake-Thomas and Faly Rakotohavana.

September 25 – The new 8-part conspiracy thriller Utopia will debut on Amazon Prime today

Show Synopsis: This series is about saving the world while trying to find your place in it, centering on a group of comic fans who meet online and bond over their obsession of a seemingly fictional comic called Utopia. The cast includes Dan Byrd, Jessica Rothe, Sasha Lane, John Cusack and Rainn Wilson [among others].

September 26 – The new movie Falling for Look Lodge will debut on the Hallmark Channel at 9 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Lily dreams of being a hotel event coordinator and is thrilled when she’s given the chance to do so by helping Noah, a hotel guest, finish planning his sister Justine’s wedding at a remote lodge. The movie stars Clark Backo and Jonathan Keltz.

September 27 – The two-night four-hour movie The Comey Rule will debut on Showtime at 9 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Jeff Daniels stars as former FBI Director James Comey while Brendan Gleeson stars as President Donald J. Trump in this 2-part, four-hour limited series that is an immersive, behind-the-headlines account of the historically turbulent events surrounding the 2016 presidential election and its aftermath, which divided a nation. The ensemble cast includes Brian D’Arcy James, Damon Gupton, Holly Hunter, Jennifer Ehle, Jonathan Banks, Oona Chaplin, Peter Coyote, Richard Thomas, Scoot McNairy, Steven Pasquale, T.R. Knight and William Sadler.

NOTE: The second half will air on Showtime at 9 PM on September 28.

September 27 – The UPtv movie Love Unplugged will debut at 7 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Insufficient funds force newlyweds Matthew and Rebecca (Sean Faris and Mischa Barton) to make some difficult financial decisions. After a blackout in the city forces the couple to go without their electronic devices, they realize their marriage may need more then financial mending. The cast includes Alyssa Diaz, Markie Post and the late David Ogden Stiers.

September 27 – Fargo will air its 4th season premiere on FX at 10 PM

September 27 – Hallmark Movies & Mysteries will air the sequel movie JL Family Ranch: The Wedding Gift at 9 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Amidst preparations for the wedding of rancher John Landsburg’s eldest daughter Rebecca at the newly opened JL Family Ranch Bed & Breakfast, the unexpected return of lifelong family enemy Tap Peterson’s son, stirs up old grudges and puts the Peterson Ranch in grave jeopardy. The all-star cast includes Jon Voight, James Caan, Teri Polo, Bo Derek, Trevor Donovan, Skyler Shaye, Abby Brammell, Dylan Walsh and Judson Mills.

September 30 – The series finale of The 100 will air at 8 PM on The CW

September 30 – The Netflix film, based on the 1968 play by Mart Crowley, The Boys in the Band, will debut online today

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: A group of gay friends reunite to celebrate one of their birthdays. When the host’s potentially closeted college roommate shows up uninvited, the evening is thrown into turmoil. The ensemble cast includes Jim Parsons, Zachary Quinto, Matt Bomer, Andrew Rannells, Charlie Carver and Tuc Watkins.
