Batwoman episode 17: A Narrow Escape

Batwoman encounters a new challenge when an old villain resurfaces, testing the heroics of Gotham’s most stand-up citizens. Alice’s limits are tested

Join NiceGirls Lisa and Cay as they discuss the episode using our feature SASSY: S(tupid), A(wesome), S(o) S(o) and Y(our Thoughts):

STUPID

Cay: Alice and Mouse are ready to escape already and MORE FACE SWITCHING. AGGGGHHHHHH

Lisa: Lawd! I can’t deal with the face switching shit anymore! #OverIt #BeenOverIt and #OverItAgain

AWESOME

Lisa: Can I get a high five for Luke trying to show off a little sexy in this episode? He has been working out and is slowly transforming into a sexy blerd and I am here for it! I love that Mary is finally in the Batwoman team and everyone can work together. I love her scenes with Luke so much.

Cay: Hmmm…yeah, that was a nice scene with Luke! So happy that Mary is now in on everything and Luke got some resolution for his father’s death. Plus Sophie gets her job back and a promotion (and potentially a new love interest). This was about as happy an episode ending as we might ever see on this show!

SO SO

Cay:  The Kate-freaking-out-over-Cartwright’s-death plotline just isn’t doing it for me. He so deserved it! The self-pity and totally letting herself go for a week also didn’t really seem like something Kate would do.

The main plot – will you let yourself die to save others? – is interesting and seems like it should be a winner, but I just didn’t get caught up in the gravity of it all, I’m not sure why.

Lisa: I agree. I understand her dealing with the weight of letting herself get to that point where she could have stopped short of killing him and didn’t, but he was a monster! A terrible person (and calling him a person is more than he deserved). I wish she would find peace with it because there is nothing she can do about it now and she doesn’t need to waste any more energy on him.

YOUR THOUGHTS

Lisa: I’m looking forward to seeing more of Mary and the team and less of Alice and faceswapper. What about Kate and Sophie? Any chance for them to reconcile?

Cay: Now that the characters have had a bit of a reset, it will be interesting to see where they go from here. It would be nice to keep Alice out of the spotlight for at least another episode and then show *something* different in her rather than just the same old stuff.

Batwoman airs Sunday nights at 8pm/7c on The CW and is available on the CW App the next day.
