A Million Little Things: “The Lunch”

By  |

A Million Little Things aired a new episode on Thursday night.

Here is a synopsis for season two, episode 15: The Lunch

Gary accidentally crashes Maggie’s first date with a new guy, and Delilah is forced to have “the talk” with Sophie. Rome has an important meeting with a Hollywood big shot, while Eddie teaches Dakota a tough lesson in what it takes to succeed in the music business.

Nice Girls Cay and Rueben share their thoughts on this episode:

Cay:

The whole episode I thought that Maggie’s blind date might be Gary. Then I wondered if he might be the guy who turned out to be Derrick. Obviously she got some good news with her last cancer check, but could we see something else go right with her life? Having her stood up was cruel! It better result with her getting back together with Gary soon! Speaking of Gary, I still want to know what he’s doing to make a living and why he doesn’t seem to be looking for a job!

As if the pot wasn’t enough of a discussion, we had to do both sex and drugs in the same episode for Sophie and Delilah? Too much! OTOH, I’m glad to see them have a respectful adult conversation about some important issues. I think it will really help repair their relationship for Sophie to be able to see her mother for who she is, flaws, and all, rather than up on the pedestal where most of us put our parents when we are young.

Can’t believe they had Derrick there hanging out with Rome and his dad. I really thought he could be Maggie’s date, never suspected he might be Derrick. What are the odds that he and Eve just talk it out and it’s done? What a rough place to put Rome and Regina – do they follow them, call the police, just wait?

I’m meh about the Eddie and his protegee plotline. I think Dakota is a little obnoxious – maybe Eddie’s heart-to-heart will tone that down a bit. I wondered after Sophie and Delilah’s talk, if Sophie might try to reconcile with Eddie.

Rueben:

OMG, I was so NOT expecting that guy to be Derrick; not til it was too late. Watching Regina try to reason with Eve while Rome did his best to distract Derrick was a little heartbreaking. I have to agree with you, Cay. What do they do? Is it safe to follow them? Can they call the police? How do you handle this kind of situation? I can’t see Derrick agreeing to anything given what Eve told Rome and Regina about how he treated her. I just don’t see any of this ending well for any of them.

I’m glad that Delilah didn’t discover Sophie and Jake in bed together – sure Jake had to deal with his appendix problem – but I was just glad we didn’t have to sit through that troupe of the mom catching her kid literally screwing around in secret. Just so tired of that storyline. The adult conversation they had was actually quite refreshing.

Before the whole Derrick thing, I was really proud of Rome for seeing that his dad needed him even though he was really trying to give Isaac the attention he needed about his film. Rome supporting his dad was the right thing to do, and it obviously impressed Isaac enough that the actor wanted to do Rome’s movie.

I felt bad for Maggie with that no-show date. For part of the episode I also thought that maybe Gary was the actual date, but I guess not. It was sweet that he had Regina given Maggie that wine, but I wish he would just open up and be honest with Maggie. I know he doesn’t want to get his heart broken again, but I think Maggie still hasn’t feelings for him too given what she said to Regina about the wine. Stop playing around, please!!

I agree that I’m not too thrilled with the Eddie-Dakota storyline. I get it that this gives Eddie paid work, but it’s actually a bit boring. I have to admit that I actually missed seeing Katherine and Theo. Let’s get back to the family dynamic and have Eddie going back to being a guitar teaching to students at home.

Cay's family thinks her obsession with pop culture is "not normal". Normal is boring!
