September TV Calendar
The following list provides the dates of the new dramas that will air on streaming services as well as the major and cable networks and the made-for-TV movies and more that will all air during September:
September 2 – Dinner for Two is the new telefilm to debut on TV One at 7 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: In preparation for his “last supper,” Chris (Tristan ‘Mack’ Wilds from 90210 and Shots Fired) sets the mood by recreating a favorite dish he shared with his once beloved Angela (Chaley Rose from Nashville). As Chris reflects on great memories over multiple glasses of wine and whiskey, he also mourns the loss of their relationship. To permanently numb the pain, Chris contemplates taking his own life, as Angela refuses to love him back and forgive his downward alcoholic spiral.
September 4 – The new USA Network drama The Purge will debut today
Show Synopsis: Based on the hit movie franchise and set in the same universe, this one-hour dram will follow several seemingly unrelated, conflicted characters as they prepare for a 12-hour period when all crime – including murder – is legal. The cast includes Colin Woodell (The Originals), Amanda Warren (Roman J. Israel, Esq. and NCIS: New Orleans), Jessica Garza (Six), Hannah Anderson (Killjoys and Shoot the Messenger), Gabriel Chavarria (East Los High), Reed Diamond (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) and William Baldwin [among others].
September 4 – The new FX drama Mayans M.C. will debut at 10 PM
Show Synopsis: Set in a post-Jax Teller world, Ezekiel “EZ” Reyes (JD Pardo from Revolution and The Messengers) is fresh out of prison and a prospect in the Mayans M.C. charter on the Cali/Mexi border. Now, EZ must carve out his new identity in a town where he was once the golden boy with the American Dream in his grasp. The large ensemble cast includes Edward James Olmos (Battlestar Galactica), Sarah Bolger (Once Upon a Time and Into the Badlands), Michael Irby (The Unit and True Detective) and Danny Pino (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit) [among many others].
September 7 – The second season of Marvel’s Iron Fist will stream on Netflix today
September 7 – The Netflix feature film Sierra Burgess Is a Loser will debut online today
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Loosely based on the 1897 play Cyrano de Bergerac, the telefilm is set in a high school and follows Sierra Burgess (Shannon Purser from Stranger Things and Riverdale), a good (but unpopular) student who finds herself caught up in a case of mistaken identity that might just lead to love. The cast also includes Noah Centineo (The Fosters and the Netflix film To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before), RJ Cyler (Power Rangers), Alice Lee (Take Two), Chrissy Metz (This Is Us), Lea Thompson (Switched at Birth) and Alan Ruck (Succession and Spin City).
September 8 – The Hallmark Channel original movie Wedding of Dreams will debut at 9 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: In this sequel to Summer of Dreams, pop sensation Debbie Taylor (80’s pop star Debbie Gibson) has found happiness teaching music at an Ohio high school. Her passion for her students, and boyfriend Noah (Robert Gant from 13 Reasons Why and The Fosters), who just asked her to marry him, contribute to her joy, and now she’s been asked to sing on TV’s “Platinum Star.” She wows the audience and is asked back for the finale, three days before her wedding. Seeing Debbie juggling her rising career while planning their nuptials, Noah asks if her heart is still with him or with her music, leaving Debbie to wonder if her heart is big enough to handle both. The cast includes Pascale Hutton (When Calls the Heart).
September 9 – The season finale of Power will air on Starz at 8 PM
September 9 – The 5th and final season of The Last Ship will premiere on TNT at 9 PM
September 9 – The first part of the 3-part PBS mini-series The Miniaturist will debut at 9 PM
Mini-Series Synopsis: Adapted from Jessie Burton’s internationally best-selling novel, the mini-series is in1686, where 18-year-old Nella Oortman (Anya Taylor-Joy from the movie Split) arrives in Amsterdam to meet her wealthy merchant husband Johannes Brandt (Alex Hassell from Genius: Picasso), but is instead met by his sister Marin (Romola Garai from Atonement and The Hour). When Johannes appears, he presents her with a wedding gift: a cabinet that is a miniature replica of their home, to be furnished by an elusive Miniaturist, whose tiny creations mirror what is happening within the house in unexpected ways and seem to be predicting and unravelling the future with unsettling precision.
NOTE: Parts 2 and 3 of this mini-series will air on September 16 and September 23.
September 9 – The new Lifetime drama You will debut at 10 PM
Show Synopsis: The new drama is a 21st-century love story about obsessive, yet brilliant, 20-something Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley from Gossip Girl), who uses the hyper-connected digital age to make the woman of his dreams fall in love with him. The cast includes Elizabeth Lail (Once Upon a Time), Shay Mitchell (Pretty Little Liars), Daniel Cosgrove (Days of Our Lives) and John Stamos (Full House) [among others].
September 12 – The season finale of Castle Rock will air today online on Hulu
September 12 – The season premiere of the 8th season of American Horror Story: The End will air at 10 PM on FX
September 13 – The USA Network drama Queen of the South will air its season finale at 9 PM followed by the series finale of Shooter at 10 PM
September 13 – The season finale of Take Two will air on ABC at 10 PM
September 13 – The Sony Crackle drama Snatch will air its second season online today
September 14 – The new streaming series The First will debut on Hulu today
Show Synopsis: Sean Penn leads an ensemble cast in this near-future drama about a crew of astronauts attempting to become the first humans on Mars. Under the direction of visionary aerospace magnate Laz Ingram (Natascha McElhone from Designated Survivor), the crew contends with peril and personal sacrifice as they undertake the greatest pioneering feat in human history. The cast includes Anna Jacoby-Heron (Finding Carter), Hannah Ware (Hitman: Agent 47), LisaGay Hamilton (The Practice) and Oded Fehr (The Mummy franchise and Covert Affairs) [among others].
September 14 – The Facebook series Sacred Lies will come to an end today
September 16 – The Hallmark Channel movie Love In Design will debut at 9 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Hannah’s (Danica McKellar from Wonder Years) television show “Love in Design” is known for modernizing outdated spaces, and she is now renovating a historic manor in her hometown. Up for the challenge, she’s not ready to work with the overseeing architect, her ex-boyfriend Jeff (Andrew Walker from When Calls the Heart), especially since their attraction hasn’t waned. Revamping such an old building and having an opinionated ex on set is hard, and Hannah must make their Ying/Yang approaches blend. At the same time, maybe Jeff can reach beyond his comfort zone and overcome the distance between them.
September 16 – The 2018 Fall Harvest Preview Special will air on the Hallmark Channel at 11 PM
September 17 – The season finales of Salvation and Elementary will air on CBS at 9 and 10 PM respectively
September 19 – The fall finale of Suits will air on the USA Network at 9 PM followed by the season finale of The Sinner at 10 PM
September 21 – The Netflix series The Good Cop will debut online today
Show Synopsis: Tony Danza (Who’s the Boss) plays Tony Sr. (Big Tony), a lovable yet not exactly honorable, former NYPD officer who never followed the rules. He lives with his son, Tony Jr. (TJ) (singer-actor Josh Groban), a brilliant, straight-laced NYPD detective who makes a point of always following the rules while solving Brooklyn’s toughest cases. This “odd couple” become unofficial partners as Tony Sr. offers his overly-cautious son blunt, street-wise advice.
September 21 – The complete first season of the Netflix series Maniac will debut online today
Show Synopsis: Set in a world somewhat like our world, in a time quite similar to our time, the series tells the stories of Annie Landsberg (Emma Stone) and Owen Milgrim (Jonah Hill), two strangers drawn to the late stages of a mysterious pharmaceutical trial, each for their own reasons. The cast includes Justin Theroux and Sally Field.
September 21 – The season finale of Killjoys will air at 10 PM on Syfy
September 21 – The Netflix flick Nappily Ever After will debut online
When a perfectionist ad exec (Sanaa Lathan) experiences a romantic setback, she embarks on a journey of self-discovery that begins with a dramatic hair makeover. The cast includes Ernie Hudson (Grace and Frankie), Lynn Whitfield (Greenleaf), Ricky Whittle (American Gods and The 100), Lyric Bent (Mary Kills People and Shoot the Messenger) and Camille Guaty (Scorpion and Happyland).
September 22 – The original Hallmark Channel movie Truly, Madly, Sweetly will debut at 9 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Natalie (Nikki DeLoach from Awkward), the owner of a San Francisco food truck business selling cupcakes, and Eric (Dylan Neal from Cedar Cove), a finance manager and divorced dad are brought together when Eric’s aunt, also a longtime customer of Natalie’s, passes away and leaves them a building which happens to be the site of a once-famous bakery. Forced into this new partnership, they discover selling the building won’t be easy because it has been declared a historical site. Romance blooms as they spend time together in the process of renovating the old bakery. However, Natalie’s desire to keep things strictly business could put an end to the partnership before the grand opening.
September 23 – The PBS movie Anne of Green Gables: Fire & Dew will debut at 7:30 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Anne Shirley (Ella Ballentine) heads to school in the city while Matthew and Marilla (Martin Sheen and Sara Botsford) face emptiness. Will Anne, overwhelmed by competition – especially from Gilbert Blythe – find that the dark cloud over her life does have a silver lining?
September 23 – The FOX drama 9-1-1 returns for the start of its second season with a special two-night event at 8 PM
September 24 – The second season of The Resident will premiere on FOX at 8 PM followed by the second part of the season premiere of 9-1-1 at 9 PM
September 24 – The remake of Magnum P.I. will debut on CBS at 9 PM followed by the season premiere of Bull now on its new night and time – Mondays at 10 PM
Show Synopsis (Magnum P.I.): Jay Hernandez (Scandal and The Expanse) stars as Thomas Magnum, a decorated former Navy SEAL who, upon returning home from Afghanistan, repurposes his military skills to become a private investigator. A charming rogue, an American hero and a die-hard Detroit Tigers fan, Magnum has Juliet Higgins (Perdita Weeks from Ready Player One and Penny Dreadful) and her Dobermans to keep him in line, as well as his trusted buddies and fellow POW survivors TC (Stephen Hill from Boardwalk Empire and Luke Cage) and Rick (Zachary Knighton from Happy Endings) when he needs back-up on a job.
September 24 – The Good Doctor will air it second season premiere at 10 PM on ABC
September 24 – The new NBC drama Manifest will debut at 10 PM
Show Synopsis: When Montego Air Flight 828 landed safely after a turbulent but routine flight, the crew and passengers were relieved. Yet in the span of those few hours, the world had aged five years and their friends, families and colleagues, after mourning their loss, had given up hope and moved on. Now, faced with the impossible, they’re all given a second chance. But as their new realities become clear, a deeper mystery unfolds and some of the returned passengers soon realize they may be meant for something greater than they ever thought possible. The ensemble cast includes Josh Dallas (Once Upon a Time), Athena Karkanis (The Lottery, The Expanse and Zoo), J.R. Ramirez (Jessica Jones and Power), Melissa Roxburgh (Valor and Supernatural), Parveen Kaur (Saving Hope) and Luna Blaise (Fresh Off the Boat) [among others].
September 25 – The second season premiere of The Gifted will air on FOX at 8 PM followed by the season premiere of Lethal Weapon at 9 PM
September 25 – NCIS will return to CBS for its 16th season at 8 PM followed by the debut of the new drama FBI at 9 PM and the season premiere of NCIS: New Orleans at 10 PM
Show Synopsis (FBI): This fast-paced drama will focus on the inner workings of the New York office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. These first-class agents bring all their talents, intellect and technical expertise to tenaciously investigate cases of tremendous magnitude, including terrorism, organized crime and counterintelligence, in order to keep New York and the country safe. The cast includes Missy Peregrym (Rookie Blue), Zeeko Zaki (Six and Valor), Ebonee Noel (Still Star-Crossed), Jeremy Sisto (Suburgatory) and Sela Ward (Sisters).
September 25 – This Is Us will premiere the start of its third season on NBC at 9 PM followed by the debut of New Amsterdam at 10 PM
Show Synopsis (New Amsterdam): Inspired by Bellevue, the oldest public hospital in America, this unique medical drama follows the brilliant and charming Dr. Max Goodwin (Ryan Eggold from The Blacklist), the institution’s newest medical director who sets out to tear up the bureaucracy and provide exceptional care. The cast includes Freema Agyeman (Doctor Who), Janet Montgomery (Salem), Jocko Sims (The Last Ship) and Tyler Labine (Deadbeat and Reaper).
September 26 – The NBC franchise dramas Chicago Med, Chicago Fire and Chicago, PD will air their season premieres at 8, 9 and 10 PM respectively

Show Synopsis: They say friendship isn’t one big thing, it’s a million little things; and that’s true for a group of friends from Boston who bonded under unexpected circumstances. Some have achieved success, others are struggling in their careers and relationships, but all of them feel stuck in life. After one of them dies unexpectedly, it’s just the wake-up call the others need to finally start living. Along the way, they discover that friends may be the one thing to save them from themselves. The cast includes David Giuntoli (Grimm), James Roday (Psych), Romany Malco (Weeds), Grace Park (Hawaii Five-0 and Battlestar Galactica), Stephanie Szostak (Satisfaction), Allison Miller (Incorporated and 13 Reasons Why), Christina Moses (The Originals), Christina Ochoa (Valor and Blood Drive) and Ron Livingston (Loudermilk).
September 27 – The two-hour season premiere of Grey’s Anatomy will air on ABC at 8 PM followed by the season premiere of How to Get Away With Murder at 10 PM

September 29 – The original Hallmark Channel movie All of My Heart: The Wedding will debut at 9 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Jenny (Lacey Chabert from Mean Girls and Party of Five) and Brian’s (Brennan Elliott from Cedar Cove) wedding plans are interrupted when Meg arrives, claiming she’s also an heir to their inn. Now they must focus on raising the money to buy Meg out, and Brian considers returning to Wall Street, until Bucks County has a fundraiser. Still, they’re short on the funds they need, and an interested buyer shows up who intends to rebuild the aging structure rather than tenderly repair it like Jenny and Brian always have. For now, though, focusing on marrying is all that matters to these loving innkeepers, who hope their happy-ever-after can be spent creating more romance in Emily’s Inn.
September 30 – The Durrells in Corfu and Poldark will both air their season premieres on PBS at 8 and 9 PM respectively
September 30 – The new CBS drama God Friended Me will debut at the special time of 8:30 PM followed by the season premiere of NCIS: Los Angeles at 9:30 PM
Show Synopsis (God Friended Me): Brandon Micheal Hall (The Mayor) stars as Miles Finer, an outspoken atheist whose life is turned upside down when he receives a friend request on social media from God and unwittingly becomes an agent of change in the lives and destinies of others around him. The cast includes Violett Beane (The Flash), Joe Morton (Scandal and Eureka) and Suraj Sharma (Life of Pi and Homeland) and Kyle Harris (Stitchers).
September 30 – The season finale of Fear the Walking Dead will air at 9 PM on AMC
