RECAP: The 100 “Damocles, Part 1”

By  |

The first part of the season finale of The 100 aired last night on The CW, bringing to culmination the war for which Wonkru and the prisoners of the Eligius have been heading since Wonkru was rescued from their underground bunker by the miners.

Shallow Valley has been the goal with both sides prepared for the genocide of their enemies without question. Unfortunately, from the beginning of the episode Wonkru was at a disadvantage: Kane and Diyoza turned themselves over to McCreary, given them a heads-up that Wonkru was marching on their least defended access points.

Needless to say, it was a blood bath for Wonkru with so many of them falling to the weapons of Eligius. There were more of Wonkru who went down during the first part of the battle than made it back to the wastelands where Monty, Harper and a small band of Wonkru had set up a fallback point.

Things didn’t fare much better for Diyoza, who was taken prisoner by a vengeful McCreary while Kane was allowed to see Abby before his fate would be decided. Sadly, McCreary didn’t get to exact any of his wrath on Kane, instead a presumed death blow was leveled on Kane by Vinson, who – in turn – was dealt a death blow of his own at the hands of Abby. The question now is: is Kane really dead? It sure looked like he wasn’t going to make it.

Meanwhile Echo, Shaw and Raven were on a mission to get Madi back to what remains of Wonkru in order to save Octavia and Bellamy – who were some of the few survivors of the first part of the battle. But they had to get through Clarke – as well as McCreary and his men. Shaw and Raven were captured while Echo was to be questioned by Clarke and then executed. Thankfully, Clarke didn’t let that happen, and she ended up letting Madi leave – go figure!

In the end, Murphy and Emori joined Madi and Echo, racing into the gorge to save Octavia and Bellamy as well as a badly injured Gaia and her mom Indra, and those dreaded words appeared: “To Be Continued.” Thank goodness that we’ll get the second part next week rather than next season; but rest assured the season finale is going to be even more intense and will probably leave us with massive cliffhangers.

Best Lines of the Night:

Murphy: “Say hello to my little friend.”
Abby to Kane: “First we survive, then we get our humanity back.”
Clarke: “I don’t need ghosts to tell me what I’ve lost to protect you, Madi.”

What did you think of the first part of the season finale? Do you think Kane is dead or can Abby save him? What do you think will happen between Wonkru and Eligius now? Can Wonkru win with Madi leading them? What will happen to Raven and Shaw? Please share your thoughts below.

The second part of the two-part season finale episode of The 100 will air on The CW on Tuesday, August 7 at 8/7c.
