Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Roundtable: Devils You Know

By  |

Lash continued to seek and destroy all Inhumans possible, while Daisy and Mack continued to hunt him. Coulson and Rosalind hunted him too, but they seemed almost as interested in outdoing each other. Hunter continued his pursuit of Ward, finally coming face to face with him. Hunter got in one good shot before Ward escaped. Ward got the last shot by staging a deadly attack on Andrew as revenge for May’s role in Kara’s death.

1. Daisy saw shadows of Lash transforming into a human shape. Do you think it’s someone we already know?

Roz: I wouldn’t be shocked it’ll it’s Raina, but I don’t know if Daisy saw that.

Jan: My first thought was that it’s Rosalind, actually. But then realized that couldn’t be possible because of the guy who had reactions to being near the Inhumans – he didn’t react to Rosalind. I do think it might be someone else we have met already, I’m just not sure who.

Rueben: I swear when Lash talked to Dwight, the voice sounded like Carl Lumbly (from Alias). Now maybe that was just me, but that’s the first thing I thought. I’m not sure who it would be, but part of me wants to side with Roz’s thought that maybe it’s somehow Raina. I’m stumped overall, though.

2. Assuming Andrew is really dead, and it certainly appears he is, do you think May will hold Hunter responsible?

Roz: I think she’ll hold more than just Hunter responsible, it’ll be Hunter, Coulson and probably Ward too.

Jan: I don’t see any way Andrew could have survived. He already appeared to be dead, or at least unconscious, before the building exploded. I want to believe Coulson could get there quickly enough to help, but I don’t see how it’s possible. The way May looked at Hunter after his actions suggest that she won’t be forgiving anytime soon. On the other hand I think she will blame herself most of all, after Ward of course.

Rueben: I think anyone who gets in her way, at this point, is going to get hurt whether they are responsible or not. We can assume (not a word I personally like to use) that it was Andrew lying on the floor of that store before it blew; but a small part of me wants to cling to the belief that somehow he got out. As unlikely as that is, though, Hunter, Ward and Coulson better watch themselves coz May will be out for blood.

3. Any ideas why Simmons is still being so secretive about what she went through? Or why when Andrew told her she’s safe now, she disagreed?

Roz: She probably found another person on that planet. I think whoever she found is someone she does feel safe around which is more than I can say for all the other people who took so long to rescue her.

Jan: I’m very much at a loss as to what’s behind Simmon’s behavior. The only thing I can see is that she fears those close to her won’t understand her strong need to go back. I believe there is a lot that happened to her there that we have yet to learn. I think I’m inclined to agree with Roz and Rueben that she met someone there.

Rueben: She totally met someone in that world; one of the other victims throughout time who was sucked into the Monolith just as she was. There is something much bigger going on there, but just what that is I’m uncertain. Thank God it looks like they’ll be giving us insight next week.

4. Does it seem like Bobbi’s rehab is taking an exceptionally long time, when most other injuries suffered by characters are forgotten within a couple of episodes?

Roz: I think she’s trying to stay close to Simmons and Fitz to suss out what is going on with them both.

Jan: I feel it’s taking a long time, and it appears Bobbi does as well. I think the look on her face when Coulson and crew left without any mention to her said a lot…she is on the sidelines and feeling left out while a lot of big things are happening. I don’t think she will be in the lab much longer, though, whether cleared for action or not.

Rueben: Well, I think the severity of her injuries makes her recuperation a bit more believable. And given the fact her gut was telling her that Hunter is/was in trouble would have driven her to go out to save his ass, but she didn’t. So I think she realizes that she’s not 100% yet.

5. What was your favorite scene in “Devils You Know”?

Roz: Hunter and May vs Ward

Jan: I was all about the action this episode, so I’m going with May showing up just when Hunter needed help the most and the two of them taking on Ward and his henchmen.

Rueben: The shoot-out between Hunter, Ward and May – without question.

6. Who was the episode MVP?

Roz: Mack just as he’s the one who seems to the most stable of the team.

Jan: Giving this one to May, as Hunter likely would be dead if she hadn’t shown up.

Rueben: While he was being totally reckless – and jeopardizing Andrew’s life to boot – Hunter plunged forward against Ward, shooting him in the shoulder (YAY!) and showing just how far he will go to avenge what Ward did to Bobbi.
