LOST GIRL Recap: “Truth & Consequences” (Episode 19, Season 2)

By  |

Truth and consequences is the name of this episode and the truths that are revealed throughout are hard-hitting and the consequences of decisions made by the main characters are, quite frankly, earth-shattering.

First of all, Kenzi and Nate – the latter, perhaps, more than the former – seem to be moving to the “next level” in their relationship with Nate giving Kenzi a key to his apartment. And while Kenzi seems hesitant about the progression – in true Kenzi fashion – perhaps she will give in and agree (but more on that later).

Bo

The main thrust of the story, though, is the new case given to Bo by Lachlan. He wants her to bring in The Glave (guest star Ingrid Kavelaars) because his pixie spies (yes, he is actually using pixies for his undercover work) just might be working with the Garuta – the very being who could bring both the Dark and Light Fae back into the horrible war that was stopped by The Blood King (aka Trick) all those centuries ago.

The Glave is one of the highest-ranking Light Fae officials, she who writes the rules, makes sure they are followed and basically keeps the peace. But, if she is attempting to compromise with the Garuta it could give the Garuta the anger and hatred it needs to feed off the Fae. The big drawback is that Lachlan doesn’t care if Bo brings The Glave to him dead or alive; but, as we well know, that isn’t Bo’s style. But given that there is major trouble coming right around the corner, Lachlan warns Bo that her sense of right and wrong will be tested in the coming weeks and she just might have to rethink who she can and cannot trust.

The Glave

As it turns out, The Glave is very inspiring (as displayed by a speech she gives at a special event for which Bo and Kenzi attend to gather intel on her) and is also a telepath so she can easily read people and say exactly what needs to be said. Because of The Glave’s ability, Bo questions where exactly this officials stands with the Garuta; but after spending some quality time with The Glave, Bo realizes that she is what both Trick and Lachlan warned her she could be – she’s working with The Glave. And before Bo can be thrown into an interrogation room by assistants of The Glave, she escapes and marches right back to The Glave taking her out with what appears to be a knife to the gut. Bo didn’t actually kill her, but knocked her out long enough to transport The Glave to Lachlan’s base, allowing him to do as he pleases with the official.

Elsewhere, Kenzi is told first by Trick that with the impending battle nearly upon them, she needs to flee with Nate, leaving Bo behind, as she is an obstacle for Bo to be the champion she needs to be for the Fae; and then eventually told the same thing by Bo in order to keep her safe. The big decision is what will Kenzi do: will she leave with Nate or will she stay and stand by Bo’s side no matter what. In the end, she does the unthinkable – she breaks it off with Nate, because she can’t stand to lie to him anymore about Bo and the Fae AND she cannot leave Bo to stand on her own in the battle.

Hale

Meanwhile, Trick has asked Hale to act as a spy for him against Lachlan and, not ironically, Lachlan asks the same of Hale against Trick. To bring that whole issue to a stand-still Hale brings the two men together and (inadvertently or not) lets it slip that Trick is The Blood King, which brings about a first: Lachlan actually bowing down to Trick and pledging his allegiance to Trick.

The other big storyline was that of Lauren and Nadia. Lauren was working hard to figure out what was causing Nadia’s health issues: she was running a fever and experiencing black outs that were progressive getting worse. In fact, Nadia nearly attacks Lauren Psycho-style in the shower, but Lauren is able to stop her before any damage can be done; Nadia goes after Kenzi in search of Bo and then, worst of all, she attacks both Lauren and Bo as the two women figure out that it’s the Garuta controlling her. Sadly, during a brief moment of clarity Nadia begs Lauren to kill her, which of course she is unable to do; but – against her better judgment and in order to save Lauren – Bo takes Nadia’s life, bringing her one step closer to a path she never thought she would travel.

Nadia and Lauren

Back at their apartment (in the final scene), Bo consoles Kenzi over her break-up with Nate and they quietly contemplate what will happen next.
