PRETTY LITTLE LIARS: Lucy Hale, Ian Harding & Chad Lowe Spill on the Summer Finale

By  |

The much-buzzed about mid-season finale of Pretty Little Liars airs in just a few short hours on ABC Family and during a recent set visit NiceGirlsTV had a chance to speak with cast members Lucy Hale, Ian Harding, who play secret couple Aria and Ezra, and Chad Lowe, who plays Aria’s father Byron.

Lucy Hale

When asked if Ezra and Aria would be exposed in the mid-season finale, Lucy hinted that, “There is someone in their lives who is threatening to expose them, so they could possibly be outed for real this time in front of her parents and you’ll get to see what happens.” In line with that question, Ian was asked if Ezra’s former fiancé Jackie would be the one to expose them. Ian wouldn’t confirm that speculation, but said Jackie “will be a big part in the mid-season finale,” and he went on to say that “when we come back in January, she’s here.”

Ian promised that the Pretty Little Liars mid-season finale is “gonna be eventful; one secret will be revealed, one mystery will be solved, but then another two will pop up in its place.” And while he had to remain vague so as not to provide any spoilers he said, “There are a few shockers that are not necessarily my storyline, but there are a few very tense moments.”

Lucy also mentioned that Allison’s box that Jason found and gave to Aria will be featured in the mid-season finale. “There is an item in the box that has to do with the tasks that “A” gives them; and we use the box (in the episodes that air when the show returns in January) to lure in “A” and sort of play a trick on whoever “A” might be.”

Each of them were then asked if they had any idea who “A” might be. Lucy mused, “I don’t even know if we’ve met “A” at this point.” Ian answered, “I don’t really know if it’s someone. I feel like it could be a group of people.” Chad shared, “I have no idea who “A” is.” But he did joke, after learning “A” could actually be one of the four girls, “that would be really twisted.”

Ian then confirmed that Ezra would be standing up more for Aria and their relationship, much like what he did in a recent episode. He explained, “there is going to be more of him standing up for what he believes in; maybe accepting the consequences of past actions and standing up to people who try to mess with their love.”

Chad Lowe

The show has also had some very interesting guest stars. Chad mentioned having a terrific time working with Annabeth Gish in the recent episode that he directed. He also shared that it “was great to have Betty Buckley as a guest star,” and when asked if he there would ever be a chance to have his former Life Goes On co-star Kellie Martin on the show, he said, “I’ll ask her and I’ll ask the writers; (it) would be fun to get Kellie on the show.”

Chad was then asked if he could share something about each of the Pretty Little Liars that our readers might not know. He shared, “Lucy has the heart of Dixie. She’s the kindest, sweetest, most sensitive kind of person that I’ve come across in a long time. Shay is obviously deeply, deeply committed to the causes she believes in while Ashley, for as much of a jokester as she is, she is fearlessly professional and incredible loyal to her friends. And Troian, what can I say, we’re all going to be working for Troian someday. It’s just a fact”.

Make sure that you tune in tonight at 8 PM on ABC Family to see what troubles the four girls will get into on the mid-season finale of Pretty Little Liars.

Again, remember there will be a special stand-alone Halloween episode on October 19 with the rest of the current season coming back in January 2012.
