NGTV Guide: Wednesday, September 9

The most-anticipated new show of the season got a headstart with a sneak peek after American Idol in May, prompting an ode from yours truly and increased expectations for the season proper. Can it live up to the hype? We’ll find out tonight when Glee‘s second episode finally airs. Glee – FOX 9/8c
“Showmance” – This musical comedy-drama about the misfits who make up a high-school glee club opens its first season with the club’s first performance. It’s not what Will expects, and it gives his rival, cheerleader coach Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch), added ammunition. But it is crowd-pleasing. Meanwhile, Finn’s cheerleader girlfriend, Quinn (Dianna Agron), is becoming jealous of Rachel; and Will’s wife, Terri (Jessalyn Gilsig), wants to buy a house, so Will has to scramble to earn more money.

Leverage – TNT 9/8c
“The Heir Job” – The con is on when Nate’s justice league targets a shady lawyer who’s out to wrest control of his client’s estate. Parker moves to the forefront of the scheme, masquerading as a long-lost daughter. Jeri Ryan and Peter Riegert guest star.
