Nice Boy of the Week: Brent Spiner

By  |

Here is another Nice Boy that we decided need his own spot on the NB Wall of Fame. Though most people know him as the lovable android, Lt. Commander Data, on Star Trek: The Next Generation, that is not where Brent Spiner began his career, and certainly not where I saw him first.

Spiner began his career on the stage, appearing in New York plays such as ‘A History of the American Film’, ‘Leave It to Beaver Is Dead’, ‘Sunday in the Park with George’ and ‘Big River: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn’. In L.A., he appeared in ‘The Little Shop of Horrors’.

After guest appearing as characters in many television shows and movies, the first time I saw Brent was as ‘Bob Wheeler’ in the hit comedy series Night Court. Soon after, he became Data, and the rest is history.

Acting is only one of Brent’s many talents. He wrote the story for the Star Trek movie, Nemesis. Also in “Nemesis”, we were treated to Brent’s dulcet tones as he sang “Blue Skies” at Troi and Ryker’s wedding. You can catch more of Brent Spiner: singer, as he croons Broadway melodies on his Ol’ Yellow Eyes Is Back CD, and Brent Spiner Dreamland.

We girls appreciate his witty Tweets, too, and that’s what influenced us to vote him this week’s Nice Boy. He makes us happy!
