Mark your calendars for August 19 when Fox will release the Season 1 DVD and Blu Ray disc of T:TSCC. Buddy TV has the scoop on what to expect in extras.
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles was one of the 2007-2008 television season’s most pleasant surprises, impressing fans of the Terminator franchise with a dense story, quality casting and an exciting level of action for network television. Despite so-so ratings, FOX opted to pick up Terminator for a second season. The Sarah Connor Chronicles is currently in production on the second season, which will debut in September. If you missed the first season, you can get a hold of all nine first-season episodes on August 19, when FOX releases the complete first season of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles on DVD and Blu-Ray. The three-disc set is priced a little lower than your typical TV season on DVD, thanks to the abbreviated season. The DVDs will retail at $30 and the Blu-Ray at $40.
Here are a list of some of the key special features for Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles – The Complete First Season.
“Creating the Chronicles” – A featurette that looks at all aspects of the Terminator production process.
Commentaries: Three different commentary tracks by show runner Josh Friedman, executive producer John Wirth, and stars Summer Glau and Thomas Dekker.
A bunch of deleted scenes, which they are calling “Terminated Scenes.”
Gag Reel
Audition tapes from Lena Headey, Thomas Dekker and Richard T. Jones
A rehearsal video of Summer Glau’s ballet scene
An extended director’s cut of the episode “The Demon Hand.”
If you are a fan of the Terminator films and blew off the series the first time around, I advise you check these DVDs out. I’m not sure, given the expectations going in, that Josh Friedman and company could have made a better show. Also, its best days are in front of Terminator; the series got better as the first season went along, and there’s no reason to believe that won’t continue into season 2.
