Week two of the Pull list for Series two. Cara and I are taking on some of our favorite episodes of the week. With that, I say we dig in to last week’s Comics on TV!
Supergirl 4×01 “American Alien”
Rating:
Karen: 8.5 Nonchalant Bar Conversations
Masked Avenger?
Okay, this is definitely not a hero, but he’s masked, and he’s going rogue on all meta-humans. We’re introduced to Agent Liberty, and he means business. Our minions are in play as well in the guises of Mercy and Otis Graves.
Cub Scouted.
Another new piece of the Supergirl team we met this week is Nia Nal (played by Nicole Maines). She’s a retro-Kara, and her similarity to the younger version of herself unsettles Kara. James compares her to Cat, and Kara seizes the opportunity to mentor her new charge at CatCo.
Whoville Supermax.
Lena visits her mother in prison and they play a game of chess. Fitting, as the Luthors consider the world their personal chessboard. Lillian insists that she’s changed, and gives information to Lena – which she uses to take down Bruno “Ugly” Mannheim.
Arrow 7×01 “Inmate 4587”
Rating:
Karen: 8.5 Eyebrow Rings
Lost Season 5?
My mantra in the last few seasons of Arrow has been “can we end all the flashbacks already?”. Well, I got my wish, but not unlike Lost’s Season 5, the show gives us a flash-forward. I actually found it compelling, and I want to learn more about William’s future plans. Is he the CW Arrowverse’s Connor?
I’ll have a half double decaffeinated half-caf, with a twist of lemon.
Felicity and William (present-day) are in WITSEC, and she’s got a job as a barista. She’s also reverted back to a few of her “goth” characteristics, although it’s not really enough to disguise her.
Back in Business.
Dinah as the Police Captain of Star City has abandoned her vigilante ways, and strives for law and order. Rene (Mad Dog) Ramirez is coaching youths, including his pre-teen daughter, at a teen center. He wants them to be prepared for the violence that is inherent in the Glades. After seeing the new “Green Arrow,” he joins forces – getting funds for his youth center, and frustrating Dinah.
Black Lightning 2×02 “The Book of Consequences, Chapter Two: Black Jesus Blues”
Rating:
Cara: 8.5 Gals Who Dare
Karen: 8 Standing Ovations
THERE’S A MONSTER LOOSE!
In the pod room, a boy in stasis is awoken and he attacks and kills a scientist. In the process, another girl is let out (Wendy), who goes on a rampage with her unfamiliar powers.
I ain’t training him.
Jefferson is told about his successor as Principle, and it’s not gonna go over well. He’s white, and the board needs Jefferson to go in 100% in order to keep the peace.
This kid pisses me off!
The boy that arose from the dead with powers in the premiere (Issa) is taken to the Pierce household, where his powers are revealed to be something like a truth serum. It manifests with the people around him saying everything they’re thinking in stark truthfulness, which is most often anger.
Retirement home horrors. Tobias is tying up loose ends, which mean a visit to an old associate named Marselius. When he finds out Marselius “knows too much,” he kills him immediately. He also finds and kills a cop who had been on his payroll.
He wants me back.
While we’re talking about Tobias, he’s taking out his anger over Syonide’s death on Khalil. Khalil was supposed to be on lookout duty, and letting Fowdy get to them. Khalil then goes to Jennifer, and tells her he wants out of his bargain with Tobias, but has no idea how to do it. Jennifer has little sympathy, or at least it appears so as she sends him away in order to hide her emerging powers from him.
Sugar momma.
Anissa approaches a singer at a party and they start a casual relationship. She’s not discreet in the least, and hurts Grace, who is serving at the party.
Daredevil 3×01 “Resurrection”
Rating:
Karen: 9 Piles of Bills
The reports of my death…
As we learned at the end of The Defenders, Matt survived the building collapse and is found on the street by a cabbie. He refuses an attempt to be taken to a hospital and instead gives them instructions to take him to Saint Agnes Orphanage.
Sister Maggie I think I got something to say to you.
At the Orphanage, he’s taken care of by Sister Maggie who holds a pretty prominent part (<–SPOILER) in Matt’s life in the comics.
Let’s Make a Deal.
We meet Agent Ray Nadeem, who is frustrated with his lack of upward movement in the FBI. He comes up with a plan to bargain with Wilson Fisk (Kingpin) in order to bolster his reputation at the agency. He succeeds by leveraging Fisk’s weakness for Vanessa Marianna, and receives accolades when getting vital information from him.
Riverdale – Chapter 37: Fortune and Men’s Eyes
Rating:
Cara: 7 pom poms
Jailhouse Rock
Archie is settling in at juvie, but hits a road block when the Serpents ask him to shiv someone. He’s too much of a goodie-goodie for that, so goes to work planning a prison football game instead (of course he does). Even a surprise appearance by the River Vixens can’t save the football game from the warden, who’s an old acquaintance of Hiram. The warden declares the game a riot and Archie the ring-leader, and it looks like the warden’s got something sinister in store Riverdale’s golden boy.
V for Vendetta
Veronica’s out for justice, but being blocked by Hiram at every turn. She’s determined to get Archie released, but it’s an uphill battle when her father’s got all of Riverdale in his pockets.
Satanic Panic
Dilton is dead, Ben’s in the hospital, and the Gargoyle King seems to have taken over the youth of Riverdale. Betty and Jughead are on the case, but when they head out to Dilton’s hidden bunker, they find the Gargoyle King instead. When they finally do get to the bunker, it raises as many questions as it provides answers. As they’re questioning Ethel, she has a seizure, just like Betty did last week. This problem is serious enough that it brings together the parents of Riverdale to cryptically discuss a pact they all made when they were young. I guess we’ll learn more about that in the flashback episode we’ve all been hearing about.

Non-specific:
Daredevil 3×02 – Please
Grieving for the life he’s abandoned, Matt suffers a crisis of faith. Fisk makes a deal with the FBI that turns him into a target.
Karen Lindsay, often teased as being "obscurely famous," talks a lot. (i.e. she podcasts). Her current and past projects involve television shows like "Chuck", "Castle", "Orphan Black", "Farscape", "Supergirl", "Lucifer" and many others.
She's an avid gamer, reader, & collector of all things shiny - and while you may not think those things go hand-in-hand, they sometimes do. So don't ask her about how many pets she has in Warcraft. (or how shiny they are).
