Dollhouse_season2_poster_smAs Dollhouse continues production on its unexpected second season, the list of guest stars is getting us pretty excited. So far FOX has announced that Jamie Bamber (Battlestar Galactica, Horatio Hornblower), Summer Glau (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Firefly), Michael Hogan (Battlestar Galactica), Keith Carradine (Dexter) and Alexis Denisof (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel) have signed on for various roles. Here’s what we know about them so far:

  • Jamie Bamber appears in the season premiere as Echo’s new husband (presumably he has hired Echo to pose as his wife).
  • Summer Glau begins her guest spot in the fifth episode of the season, scheduled to air in October. Set for at least 2 episodes, Glau plays Bennett, aDollhouse employee who shares a past with Echo.
  • Alexis Denisof a U.S. senator leading a witch hunt to track down the Dollhouse. Which means we’ll see him in a suit. I approve!
  • Michael Hogan comes to the Dollhouse hoping to stop a psychotic family member’s killing spree, which we hope means Sierra gets to kick some butt again.
  • Keith Carradine is a nemesis of Adelle DeWitt’s and comes to stir up some trouble. Because Adelle doesn’t have enough of that laying around.

Also returning with multi-episode arcs for season two are Amy Acker as Whiskey/Dr. Saunders and Miracle Laurie as November/Madeline. Dollhouse returns Friday, September 25 at 9/8c on FOX.

Upfronts 2009: Fox – Bones, Dollhouse Return; Sarah Connor Canceled

Fox unveiled their 2009-2010 schedule today, although much of it had already leaked late last week. Here’s the scoop as it pertains to the Nice Girls:

Staying

Bones – The banter continues for two more seasons after Fox decided to ensure a place for Brennan, Booth and the Squints for the foreseeable future.

Dollhouse – This was a shocker, but in a good way! We’ll get at least another 13 episodes of Joss Whedon and Eliza Dushku’s foray into what human identity is all about.

Fringe – 2008’s most anticipated new show gets a sophomore season to delve even deeper into, well, whatever it is that’s going on there in Boston.

Coming

Glee – We’re looking forward to this tale of glee-club nerds at a midwestern high school. It’s inspirational and full of catchy songs waiting to be iTunes hits, plus it’s from Ryan Murphy, creator of Popular! Catch a sneak peek tomorrow after American Idol.

Human Target – Starring Mark Valley, last seen sharing memories with real-life wife Anna Torv on Fringe, the show is an adaptation of the comic book series by the same name. The premise is that Valley’s character, Christopher Chance, is a bodyguard who actually impersonates his clients in order to stay between them and danger. Definitely worth a look.

Going

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles – It was an ambitious undertaking and there are still stories to tell, but even Thomas Dekker couldn’t save this show.

Fox’s 2009-2010 Schedule

Looks like Fox is going after the CBS/ABC Thursday domination hard core next season! They’re airing Bones and Fringe on Thursdays. It’s a logical pairing, but it sure does make Thursdays a busy night for the Nice Girls.

Thomas Dekker Joins the Campaign For More Terminator

May 15, 2009 by Melissa

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles is on the bubble with Fox, so fans have launched a call-in campaign to leave voice mails on the Fox viewer comment line asking for a third season (Dollhouse fans are doing the same in support of that show). T:TSCC star Thomas Dekker got wind of the campaign, so he webcammed himself calling Fox and leaving his own voice mail. (WARNING: Smoking, cursing, and shirtless Thomas Dekker ahead!)

Fox is airing two hours of Prison Break tonight, so we’ll have to wait another week for the next episode of Dollhouse. Until then, enjoy a little vampire redux.

Moonlight – Sci Fi 9/8c
“Sleeping Beauty” – Mick hunts for an assassin hired to kill Josef and learns a secret Josef kept from him for more than 40 years. Mick also discovers the hit was put out by a dying man with a personal vendetta against Josef.

Nice Boy of the Week: Thomas Dekker

In honor of a show that, in my opinion, should stay on the air for another season because it’s that good, we voted Thomas Dekker, who plays ‘John Connor’ on Fox’s Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, our Nice Boy this week.

Thomas has done a phenomenal job, both this season and last, as John Connor. He’s taken John from high school kid on the run with his mother to man in charge of the resistance, with all the growing pains of a normal teen. He’s a fantastic actor and we thinks he deserves a spot on our Nice Boys Wall of Fame.

Happy Friday! Moonlight returns to the Sci Fi network this week, so get ready for another night packed with goodies. Enjoy them while you can, though, as Terminator and Friday Night Lights air their respective season finales.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles – Fox 8/7c – SEASON FINALE
“Born to Run” – The Connors encounter Weaver, and the resulting confrontation becomes a pivotal event for John in the second-season finale.

Moonlight – Sci Fi 9/8c
“Fleur de Lis” – Beth gets jealous when Mick works on a case with a female photographer who bears a striking resemblance to his ex-wife. Beth then researches the woman’s past and discovers the mystery lady isn’t who she claims to be. As for the case, Mick is hired by a CEO to follow his trophy wife who may be having an affair. During the probe, Mick suspects the husband may be planning to murder his unfaithful spouse.

Friday Night Lights – NBC 9/8c – SEASON FINALE
“Tomorrow Blues” – Eric’s contract is reviewed in the third-season finale. Meanwhile, Billy and Mindy’s wedding day arrives; Tyra awaits word on her wait-list status; Matt prepares to leave for college; and Tim and Lyla consider their future.

Dollhouse – Fox 9/8c
“A Spy in the House of Love” – Echo and Sierra are turned into spy hunters in order to track down a Dollhouse traitor. Meanwhile, Mellie delivers surprising news to Ballard; and Adelle has a secret.

T:TSCC Season Finale, Tonight

While we still don’t know whether tonight’s episode of Sarah Connor will be a season finale or a series finale, this Nice Girl chooses to remain optimistic. I’m a firm believer in “it’s not over till the fat lady sings”, and I do believe there are more stories to be told of Sarah and John Connor, and company. I think this season was the best of the two seasons, providing us with great character developments, crazy action, fantastic drama and awesome story lines. I could handle another season and I know I’m not alone.

Comic Book Resources caught up with the show’s creator, Josh Friedman, at last month’s Wondercon, and he talks about tonight’s finale and his thoughts about how the series ahs done the past two years.

But you know, we’ve had the same ratings for two years. I mean we really have been bumped along in a flat way for two years. In the move from Monday to Friday, the amount that we’ve gone down is the amount that, statistically, you go down when you make that kind of a move. It’s not like we dropped down in some dramatic way beyond what one does when one moves. So I don’t even know what to take away from it. I feel like the same people watch our show now as before, minus the ones that are TiVoing it. I haven’t seen the DVR numbers yet.

Watch Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, tonight at 8 p.m./7 Central, on Fox.

It’s Friday and we’re ready to relax. Somehow I don’t think the women of Fox are going to give us a night off, though.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles – Fox 8/7c
“Adam Raised a Cain” – John pursues a Skynet target, and gets close to Weaver; Ellison reunites with Sarah after plans change; Weaver uncovers secrets about Ellison.

Dollhouse – Fox 8/7c
“Needs” – After she, Sierra and Victor awaken in the Dollhouse as their original selves, complete with their own memories, Echo leads the Actives in an escape attempt. Ballard, meanwhile, learns more about the location of the Dollhouse.

Friday Night Lights – NBC 8/7c
“Underdogs” – The team prepares for tough opponents; the Taylors make a decision about the McCoys; Tyra writes her college essay with help from Landry; Matt frets over telling his grandma about his plan for college; and Lyla moves out of Tim’s house.

Playing Catch Up

As I mentioned last week, I was traveling for work so wasn’t on the NGTV Radio show to talk TV with Louise and BethAnne. My return home on Sunday was greeted by a DVR packed full of shows and an overflowing inbox. Fortunately I was able to catch The Mentalist while on the road, and when I had the chance to hang out with a friend on Saturday evening, we watched a couple of episodes of Lie to Me, which while not Must See TV is a show I do enjoy. That left me with Dollhouse, The Office, 30 Rock, Samantha Who?, In the Motherhood, and Sarah Connor. So far, I’ve made it through Dollhouse and The Office. And another week of TV is starting. Ack!

In other news, I’ll be posting an awesome interview with someone from Bones on Thursday, and our feature with Friday Night Light’s Stacey Oristano should be going up this week as well. Plus Cupid premieres tomorrow and deserves a feature article all on its own. Oh TV, you really do miss me when I go out of town, don’t you?
