This will be our final post on the subject – no, really. Especially since Brooke Shields has admitted that they’ve been given the official word that Lipstick Jungle is definitely not coming back.

Shields, who played film executive Wendy Healy in the series, vehemently denied the rumors, insisting she believed the project would last.

But the star has confirmed to E! Online that the show has been dropped after just two seasons.

She tells the news show, “It was going to stay and we just were officially told it’s finally not coming back.

Andrew McCarthy Leaves “Jungle” for “Gossip”

Another Lipstick Jungle alum heads off for points elsewhere. THR reports that Andrew McCarthy has joined the Gossip Girl spin-off, playing Lily’s father on the show.

The WBTV-produced “Gossip Girl” spinoff chronicles Lily’s (Brittany Snow) wild teen years in 1980s Los Angeles.

McCarthy joins Snow and Krysten Ritter, who plays Lily’s sister Carol Rodes.

Co-starring on a show set in the ’80s is fitting for McCarthy, who was a big ’80s movie star, appearing in such features as “St. Elmo’s Fire,” “Pretty in Pink” and “Less Than Zero.”

Kim Raver Joins ABC’s “Inside the Box”

Why doesn’t NBC just call it, already! Just come right out and tell us, “Kids, Lipstick Jungle is dead and the girls have left the building.” Last week, we reported the news that Lindsay Price has signed on to do a pilot for ABC, and now Kim Raver joins her. Well, not really joins her on the same show, but at ABC.

Yes, both girls would come back to the ‘Jungle’ if it does indeed turn out that it’s been picked up for a third season. But NBC isn’t throwing us any bones either. And with Robert Buckley moving on, and now Raver and Price, all that may be left is the proverbial slamming of the door.

Lindsay Price: Fashion to “Eastwick” Reporter

What?! This just shot across my computer screen in blazing letters:

“Lipstick Jungle” star Lindsay Price has been cast in the pilot of ABC’s “Eastwick,” a drama based on the 1987 movie “The Witches of Eastwick” that starred Jack Nicholson, Cher, Susan Sarandon and Michelle Pfeiffer. ~Source.

Lindsay Price

So, does this mean that Lipstick Jungle is definitely NOT coming back? Or, if it does come back, no Victory? What?! I mean, don’t get me wrong, Lindsay Price in anything is a treat, but seriously? The whole Lipstick Jungle thing has been off again/on again so many times, it’s becoming really hard to keep track. Although we were not promised anything, we were given a crumb of hope for our gals’ return, in some form, come next fall. At this point, I’d settle for a made-for-tv movie to tie up all the loose ends that were left at the end of season two.

More on the “Lipstick Jungle” Front

We’re getting more information to keep our hopes alive for Lipstick Jungle’s return. NBC Entertainment co-chair Ben Silverman had this to say:

“Lipstick Jungle is so strong and has such a passionate base among a coveted demographic,” Silverman said. “That kind of show will have the same approach, and we’ve already begun that approach, as we’ve used with Friday Night Lights. We have some incredible channels in our portfolio and we have sister networks that love the show as well. We are analyzing what we need to do to keep that show on the air.”

Come on, we can make this work!

Robert Buckley Heads to ‘Privileged’

Hot on the heels that Michael Cassidy is leaving Privileged (sorry Louise!) comes scoop from TV Guide that Lipstick Jungle’s Robert Buckley has signed on for at least the last two episodes of this season. Hottie Buckley will play the editor-in-chief of a magazine where both Megan and Will hope to be working. Sounds like a prime candidate to further complicate Will’s wooing of Megan if you ask us.

Meanwhile, TV Guide reports that episode 13 of Lipstick Jungle’s second season will air January 9 at 9/8c on NBC. Although the “back nine” episodes have yet to be picked up, word is that if the season goes out with “a ratings bang”, the show might have a future. The January 2 episode (did anybody even know it was on? I didn’t!) delivered 4.23 million total viewers, its best audience since moving to Fridays in late October.

Hope Remains for Lipstick Jungle

There’s still hope for Lipstick Jungle, according to a new article in the New York Times. Brooke Shields reveals that Lipstick Jungle’s audience increases by 2.3 million viewers when the live +7 numbers (i.e. people who watch the show on DVR within 7 days of airing) are counted. According to a Nielson analyst, that’s the largest percentage increase of any primetime show. Wow!

In other good news, NBC says they will air the remaing 4 episodes of the original 13-episode order staggered through mid-January before making a final decision on the fate of the show. The sets are still standing and intact at the studio in New York, waiting for that decision. The ratings will be crucial, however. Advertisers prefer to have live viewers who can’t fast forward through commercials, so even with the bump from live +7 numbers, the show is in danger. One way the producers are trying to combat that for advertisers is by embedding commercials within the show. Did you notice Lindsay Price’s Victory requesting that one of her models be done up with Maybelline mascara during the fashion show? That wasn’t an accident – that was product placement and one of the better examples I’ve seen lately. This show is ripe for product placement as we watch these women go about their lives. Have Brooke Shields’ Wendy do the weekly shopping and choose Pantene over Sunsilk and voila! Instant commercial. Have Kim Raver’s Nico take some Tylenol or Excedrin while working late on a deadline for the magazine; perfectly natural and believable product placement.

Just a few ideas for how to keep this Nice Girls favorite on the air. The Friday night “death slot” may mean we aren’t watching it live as often as we did on Wednesday, but we are still watching and we want more!
