Ugly Betty – ABC 8/7c

Elsewhere, Tracy’s interview with Larry King (appearing as himself) causes New York to spiral into citywide chaos. But that doesn’t stop Liz from sending Kenneth into the crazed metropolis to retrieve her lost cell phone. Meredith Vieira also guest stars.

The Beast – A&E 10/9c
“Capone” – A fellow agent vanishes, sending Barker undercover to infiltrate a group of Latino drug dealers who may have something to do with the man’s disappearance. Lou Diamond Phillips guest stars.

Burn Notice – USA 10/9c

Which Firefly Alum is Headed for Dollhouse?

Although I read the Watch with Kristin spoiler column every week, there’s rarely anything posted about my shows that I don’t already know. But every once in a while there’s a spoilery tidbit that takes me completely by surprise, like this one: Alan Tudyk (aka Wash on Firefly) is joining Dollhouse as Alpha. You know, the muderous operative who went beserk and escaped? And appears to be trying to take down the Dollhouse via Paul Ballard? Enjoy your memories of dear, sweet Wash now, my friends, because it sounds like Alan Tudyk is about to creep us out big time.

In other spoilery news:

Ricky in Brockway, Pa.: Will Jasika Nicole ever have more screen time on Fringe?
The running joke is how many lines she’ll have in an episode, but Jasika says that’s about to change. “She’s the only person besides Peter who is privy to all this information that’s going on. They obviously couldn’t just pick any old junior person to do this job because she has access to all this information that’s really important. So there’s a reason that she’s there.” Finally! Maybe next time she’ll have five lines.

Anna in Dallas: I know Kath & Kim isn’t doing so well in the ratings, but will you still tell me what’s coming up?
How about I let John Michael Higgins tell you? “My character is having a bachelor party, which is interesting to watch.” Watch out Ms. Day—Mr. Knight is out to party!

Lindsay in Houston: I cannot wait until this summer! Talk to me about True Blood!
Sookie’s power is not unique to her. She’ll meet a young Texan named Barry who reads minds, and they freak each other a little when they discover each other’s powers. Also, great news for us Eric fans: We’ll be catching up with him in 10th century Scandinavia, likely when he was first turned into a vampire. Holler!

Marcus in Little Rock, Ark.: Supernatural!
Don’t you hate it when your friends get hooked on demon blood? Well, Dean and Bobby are going to stage an intervention on Sam for just that and keep him prisoner.

Kathryn in Richmond, Va.: It’s been so long since Samantha Who? was on the air. Do you have any scoop?
Yes I do! Mr. Billy Zane is about to change everything! Christina Applegate says, “[He] comes and causes a lot of confusion for everybody. That whole arc was five episodes, and it’s quite good. Because of him, it changes the course of who she is. As we come into the third season, which we hope we get, everything will be different.” If you promise to bring back Billy Zane, I’ll promise to drool over him and watch the third season.

Maria from Riverside, Calif: Gossip Girl! Please! I miss it so.
You and me both, sister. Word on the street is that Georgina will come back a totally different person. My guess? George.

Bones – FOX 8/7c
“The Princess and the Pear” – When a group of eighth-graders find the decomposed body of woman wearing a medieval princess dress, the team is on the scene to investigate. With Booth incapacitated due to a back injury, Agent Payton Perotta (guest star Marisa Coughlin) steps in to help with the investigation. With insight from “squint” Colin Fisher, a self-professed geek and expert in the language of sci-fi, the team identifies the woman as a promotional model from ImagiCon, a convention for fans of comic books, video games and other sci-fi genre entertainment. Brennan and the team must navigate through the outlandish landscape of ImagiCon in order to track down the killer. They soon find the victim may have owned a highly valuable piece of sci-fi memorabilia that many would kill to possess.

Ugly Betty – ABC 8/7c
“There’s No Place Like Mode” – Fashion Week brings chaos to the Modies, as Betty copes with simultaneously putting on a show for a bizarre new designer named Heinrich and with an assignment from YETI to partner up with Matt (guest star Daniel Eric Gold), who works at a sports magazine, to learn about each other’s jobs.  Meanwhile, Wilhelmina fears she’s lost her edge in the fashion world because she’s been spending too much time with Conner, Daniel tries giving Molly a makeover, and a new member of the Mode team makes a dramatic entrance.

Kath & Kim – NBC 8:30/7:30c
“Competition” – Kath discovers that she is still married to her ex Rusty (guest star Ron White) and must find him in order to finalize their divorce. Kath’s search throws Phil, Kim and Craig into the world of roller derby where they meet a rough-around-the-edges skater named Whitney (guest star Busy Philipps) and where Kim falls in love with the sport.

The Beast – A&E 10/9c
“Hothead” – There’s nothing more dangerous than an FBI agent who’s gone rogue, and Frank Oland may be one of them. Barker, who trained with Oland at Quantico, sends Ellis undercover at the security company where Oland works to keep an eye on him. Ellis poses as an unpredictable and sometimes violent U.S. Marine to get close to Oland. The case gets even more complex when Barker searches for Oland’s former girlfriend–who just happens to be one of Barker’s former girlfriends, too.

Burn Notice – USA 10/9c
“Truth & Reconciliation” – Michael helps a Haitian man locate his daughter’s killer, a corrupt government official from Haiti who’s hiding out in Miami. Elsewhere, Michael makes progress while investigating who tried to kill him.

Wow, tonight is packed with goodies! Here’s what the Nice Girls are watching this evening, including a DOUBLE shot of Bones. Yay!

Bones – Fox 8/7c – NEW NIGHT
“Double Trouble in the Panhandle” – Booth and Brennan investigate the remains of conjoined twins found in a shallow grave in a remote desert area on the Texas-Oklahoma border. Back at the lab, the team determines the skeletal remains to be those of Jenny and Julie, who were jugglers in a traveling circus. Knowing there is no way the circus folk will talk to anyone outside their tight-knit clan, Brennan and Booth must infiltrate the circus community in order to find out more information about the twins’ deaths. Honing Booth’s Ranger knife-throwing skills, the duo goes undercover as knife-throwing act “Buck and Wanda Moosejaw.” As they encounter a variety of suspects among the colorful circus crowd, including ringmaster Henry Simon (guest star Andy Richter), a rather raucous clan of clowns and a tempestuous strong man who may have been romantically involved with one of the twins, Booth and Brennan find the circus experience to be quite the spectacle.

Ugly Betty – ABC 8/7c
“Kissed Off” – Betty contemplates making a personal decision to help her family and finances. But things keep sidetracking her – like the fact that sexy neighbor Jesse (guest star Val Emmich) is suddenly interested in her again. Meanwhile, Daniel tries to hide his tracks as Connor is determined to find out the identity of the mystery man who stole Molly’s heart.

Kath & Kim – 8:30/7:30PM
“News” – Kim (Selma Blair) sets out to be the new anchorwoman for the local news station and Kath (Molly Shannon) does everything in her power to make her daughter’s dream come true. Meanwhile, Craig (Mikey Day) accidentally hits Phil’s (John Michael Higgins) prized car Little Debbie and then inadvertently gets it confiscated by the police.

Bones – Fox 9/8c – NEW NIGHT
“The Fire in the Ice” – The body of a fireman is discovered in a lake and Booth is one of the suspects. The victim and Booth played hockey together. The investigation is conducted by FBI Agent Payton Perotta. During interrogation, sparks fly between Perotta and Booth. Brennan will try figure skating.

Supernatural – the CW 9/8c
“Criss Angel is a Douche Bag” – A mysterious death draws Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) to a town full of old-school magicians. Their investigation leads them to Charlie (guest star John Rubenstein), Jay (guest star Barry Bostwick) and Vernon (guest star Richard Libertini), three friends who were famous magicians in their day but have now been replaced by flashier, younger magicians. One of them has made a deal to acquire real magical powers, but the price was extremely high. Sam and Dean must figure out a way to reverse the spell before others are harmed.

30 Rock – 9:30/8:30c
“Retreat to Move Forward” –
Jack (Alec Baldwin) is nervous about the corporate retreat, so he recruits Liz (Tina Fey) to accompany him for support. Meanwhile, Jenna (Jane Krakowski) ends up at the mercy of Frank (Judah Friedlander) when she decides she needs to implore method acting to prepare for her Janis Joplin role, and Kenneth (Jack McBrayer) must convince Tracy (Tracy Morgan) that diabetes is affected by his diet.

Burn Notice – USA 10/9c
“Do No Harm” -  Michael agrees to help the father of a sick boy recover money from a medical scam artist, but Sam worries that Michael is reaching his limit.  Written and directed by Matt Nix. Guest stars: Tricia Helfer, Gary Weeks and David Barry Gray.

The Beast – A&E 10/9c
“Two Choices” – Barker and Ellis are assigned to take down a major drug trafficking ring run by a man named Jimmy Casserly–who happens to be in the Chicago Police Department’s (CPD) custody. Barker fears that if Casserly stays in CPD custody, his drug deal won’t go through and they won’t have enough evidence to lock him up for good. The partners come up with a risky scheme to bust Casserly out of CPD custody and all is going well until a major wrench is thrown in the gears–an ex cop with a personal vendetta is also chasing Casserly. Meanwhile, Ellis continues to burn the candle at both ends. He runs into Rose and she questions what he does for a living, and Ray from Internal Affairs tries to convince him that Barker is crooked by giving him a DVD with supposed evidence against his mentor.

EXCLUSIVE: Busy Phillips and Ron White to Guest on Kath & Kim

January 15, 2009 by Melissa

We’ve got some exclusive scoop for Kath & Kim fans, which around here means me, but whatever! I think this show is hilarious and it’s about to get even funnier! Sources tell us that Busy Philipps (Freaks and Geeks, Dawson’s Creek) and Ron White (Blue Collar Comedy Tour) have signed on to guest star in an upcoming roller derby-themed episode of the show.

Seriously? Roller derby? I can picture the outfits now…and they don’t look that much different from what the mother-daughter duo wear on a daily basis. But wait, it gets better! Ron White will play Rusty, the ex-husband of Kath (Molly Shannon) and father of Kim (Selma Blair), marking the first time audiences are introduced to this character. Busy Philipps will play Whitney, the “jammer” on Rusty’s team. That’s right, Kath’s ex is on a roller derby team!

In the episode, Rusty boots Whitney down to second string and replaces her with his daughter, Kim. Busy’s character quits the team instead of taking the demotion, and in Kim’s first match she ends up, of course, facing off against Busy’s character. The whole cast was on skates for this episode. I’m cracking up just thinking about it.

Ron and Busy join a long list of Kath & Kim guest stars, including Maya Rudolph, Jennifer Coolidge and Wynonna Judd, who will all star in upcoming episodes.

Wynonna Judd Guests on ‘Kath & Kim’

As if Kath & Kim needed anything else to obssess over: Country legend Wynonna Judd will play herself on an upcoming episode of NBC’s Thursday night comedy.

Kath (Molly Shannon) and Kim (Selma Blair) get a little nuts under the influence of Wynonna-mania during a contest to meet their favorite country singer.

“Kath and Kim are beyond huge fans,” Judd smilingly confesses. “Some might say my biggest fans. The lengths they go to are hysterical.”

Check out the hysterics yourself when the episode airs later this month.
