Good Witch: Recap of Season 3 and Brief Look at Season 4

By  |

The third season of Good Witch aired on the Hallmark Channel from April to July of last year. With the fourth season of the popular family-friendly series soon to premiere – it’ll be back starting on Sunday, April 29 – now is the right time to recap what took place in beautiful Middleton throughout last season.

Let’s take a look at what took place during last season:

EPISODE 1

Middleton anxiously awaited the blossoming of a rare plant known as the Middleton Merriwick, a plant that hadn’t bloomed in decades. But when a stalk of the plant was mysterious cut, Cassie, Grace and their cousin Abigail [who are all members of the Merriwick family] seemed to lose a bit of the magic. Grace was also on edge because she not only discovered that her mom Cassie and Sam had made their relationship official without telling her first and also she suspected Nick might have feelings for her other than friendship.

EPISODE 2

The mystery of the Middleton Merriwick plant was forefront in everyone’s mind: Mayor Martha was investigating the culprit; Cassie closed down her store for a few days and even Sam came to realize that Cassie was connected to the Merriwick. Eventually the culprit was caught by Sheriff Derek.

EPISODE 3

The town of Middleton seemed to be stuck in a magical version of Groundhog Day with one day being just like the one before, affecting Abigail at the flower shop, affecting Sam in trying to plan the perfect date for Cassie and affecting Grace with a big test at school.

EPISODE 4

This episode focused not only on Sam finding constant reminders about saying “I love you” to that special someone (something he can’t bring himself to do) but also the re-opening of the historic Middleton Theatre by Ben. It was in this episode that Sam finally said “I love you” to Cassie.

EPISODE 5

It was Grace’s birthday, and Cassie presented her with the Merriwick Wish book, a book passed down for hundreds of years to every Merriwick girl when she turned a certain age. Tradition has it that each Merriwick girl is to write down her deepest wish in order for it to come true; unfortunately, Cassie didn’t get to do that when she turned that “certain” age because she had been on her own [after the loss of her parents] so she and Grace got to add her wish in together.

EPISODE 6

Jealousy took hold of Abigail over Cassie’s ease charm with her customers. Trying to replicate Cassie, Abigail got a little in over her head, but armed with advice from Grace – to listen, offer advice and show care to her customers – Abigail learned a valuable lesson. Meanwhile, Sam’s friend Liam and his son Noah – who was also a former friend of Nick’s – moved to Middleton; but Nick eventually revealed that Noah was the real culprit of the problems in New York that sent Sam and Nick to Middleton.

EPISODE 7

Cassie and Sam work together not only on the annual Middleton Healthfest but also investigate into several townspeople’s unusual illness, eventually finding a solution to that trouble. Elsewhere, recent Grey House guest Harrison Boyd – an artist – left behind an interesting painting that made Cassie curious about what it depicted.

EPISODE 8

The Radford’s celebrated their one year anniversary of living in Middleton with Cassie trying to find him the perfect gift. Meanwhile, an old coat belonging to Abigail’s father was discovered and later a package from her dad – lost for 20 years – also arrived. Grace also attempted to reconcile Nick and Noah.

EPISODE 9

Martha’s son Michael was to get married, but the mother of the bride wreaked havoc on the preparations, leaving Martha and the town’s vendors in the cold because they weren’t elegant enough in her estimation. Sam received a surprise visit from his sister Joanne – who was dealing with a major health issue – and who was also surprised that her brother had not changed his mind about remarrying despite his obvious love for Cassie. Meanwhile, Abigail was able to make a difference for a newly adopted little girl and her adoptive parents.

EPISODE 10

Cassie traveled to Chicago to visit an old friend and mentor, while Sam was distracted by Joanne’s health issue. Eventually, though, Sam went to Chicago to “win” her back; with them agreeing to live each moment with each other. Nick and Grace are at odds with each other because of Grace inadvertently breaking up him and Courtney. Elsewhere, Michael and his fiancée finally took control of their wedding, having it the way they wanted with Martha officiating, reciting a touching passage that affected everyone attending, including Sam who proposed to Cassie after the reception. She, of course, said yes! [Read the full recap here.]

HALLOWEEN SPECIAL

Halloween has always been a big occasion in Middleton with a huge party held at Grey House, but when muslin sheets detailing the Perriwood prophecy are discovered, all the “bad” events outlined in the prophecy began to take place, causing great concern by everyone in Middleton. But the curse wasn’t a curse after all – and thanks to Cassie and Grace – the mystery was solved.

Season 4

Here is the tagline for the fourth season premiere, entitled “With This Ring”:

“Cassie gives those around her pieces of jewelry that magically turn out to be just what each of them needed. Meanwhile, Sam is on a quest for the perfect engagement ring for Cassie and his search uncovers a surprising piece of Merriwick history. In her endeavor to increase Middleton’s appeal, Mayor Martha is on a mission to find a new place she can declare as the most romantic in town and is led to the most unexpected destination.”
