RECAP: The Arrangement “The Break Up”

By  |

It was another tense episode of The Arrangement on Sunday night with flashbacks of the break up between Kyle and former fiancée Lisbeth as well as Kyle and Megan dealing with a high-profile interview with Iris Holloway and more changes for their passion piece “Technicolor Highway.”

Here is the synopsis of the episode entitled “The Break Up:”

“Kyle confronts a dark time in his past; Megan examines how the Institute has impacted her life and her relationship.”

We finally got to see some backstory on Lisbeth and Kyle – specifically their break up – and it was quite revelatory. While Kyle was giving one story to Iris the Interviewer, the real story was eventually played out for the viewers, telling two very different stories. One was the glossed over version for the press and public and the other was the unvarnished truth.

Lisbeth didn’t just leave Kyle, writing him a letter and leaving behind her engagement ring; they had a massive fight and he punched a hole in the wall right next to her head. Pretty revelatory, right? To make matter worse, Terence showed up to talk Kyle down for his drug- and alcohol-induced hysteria; but Terence had also just had sex with Lisbeth at IHM before checking on Kyle. Really, smooth move there Terence. This is yet ANOTHER reason I dislike this character. Never thought I would actually hate Michael Vartan, but this character is just not my favorite.

Elsewhere, Megan also gets interviewed by Iris and puts on her own show, squashing all the rumors: she and Xavier had an affair [nope, didn’t happen, which it really didn’t]; her relationship with Kyle is just a business arrangement in exchange for fortune and fame [yep, it is, but viewers know that already] and Megan had to join IHM [viewers know all too well that she was forced into this arrangement even drugged to get her to comply]. How Megan can keep all the lies straight is beyond me while still trying to bring IHM and Terence down. Just get to the taking them down already, Megan, c’mon!!

Then there is the whole issue of Kyle and Xavier where Technicolor Highway is concerned. First Kyle was all for having Xavier play the lead role opposite Megan; then the rumor mill started about them supposedly having an affair – which Kyle seemed to buy into – and now Kyle wants his lead role back from Xavier, going so far as to fire the guy after a month of filming. Kyle just needs to make up his mind; is he a director or an actor-director? I think he’s making a big mistake.

At some point I have to wonder who is going to break first: Kyle with all of his baggage even if he claimed that he is beyond all that; Megan with all the lies upon lies or Xavier for simply being pissed at Kyle for screwing him over.

So Terence had an affair with Lisbeth AFTER she stormed out on Kyle? Any surprise there? How many more lies is Megan going to spew to keep Terence and IHM at bay while still attempting to take them down? Please share your thoughts below.

The next new episode of The Arrangement will air on E! Entertainment on Sunday, April 22 at 9/8c.
