Nice Boys

Nice Boy of the Week: David Lim

By  |

Meet our newest Nice Boy: David Lim.

David Lim’s path to acting wasn’t a straight one. After earning a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of California San Diego, he worked as a loan officer before deciding that wasn’t the right career. After signing a contract with Ford Models, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue modeling and acting where he landed roles in several commercials for companies such as Gillette, Bud Light, McDonald’s, Dave and Buster’s and Apple and guest starred on a few series. Last season David had a recurring role in the ABC thriller Quantico as Sebastian Chen, a CIA recruit.

Last spring David auditioned for a role in the CBS pilot, S.W.A.T., a reboot of the 1975 TV series and the 2003 movie starring Colin Farrell. He didn’t get cast in that role, but as the show was coming together, co-creators Shawn Ryan and Aaron Thomas, along with Justin Lin, felt like something was missing. Remembering David’s audition, they created a new, series regular role with him in mind. When S.W.A.T. premieres tonight, David stars alongside Shemar Moore, Stephanie Sigman, Alex Russell, Lina Esco, Kenneth Johnson, Peter Onorati and Jay Harrington. His character, Victor Tan, is a relatively new S.W.A.T officer who made his name in the Hollywood Division before advancing to the heights of LAPD and Metro S.W.A.T.

We caught up with David this week as he anticipated the big premiere and asked him a few questions in honor of being our Nice Boy of the Week.

NGTV: What is Victor Tan’s nicest quality?

David: His nicest quality is that he’d do anything for his teammates.

NGTV: Is there anything you would change about Victor? If so, what and why?

David: No way! He’s a badass action hero who puts his life on the line to protect others. (And he can make you swoon.)

[Editor’s Note: Swoonworthy? No kidding! An unnamed Nice Girl suggested that we ask David “the whole package” Lim if he sometimes does math equations while standing in front of the mirror lifting weights. We refrained because we are professionals, dammit.]

NGTV: What words of wisdom do you, David, live by?

David: Work hard. Dream big.

NGTV: What’s the nicest thing a fan has ever done for you?

David: Not sure… title is still there for the taking!

You can follow David on Twitter – and vie for the “nicest fan” title – @davidbradleylim, and catch him on S.W.A.T., premiering Thursday, November 2 at 10/9c on CBS.
