LUCIFER: “What Would Lucifer Do?” Roundtable

By  |

On this week’s Lucifer, a worker at a farm that works to rehabilitate juvenile defenders is murdered and Chloe and Lucifer are on the case. Meanwhile, Amenadiel tries to see what makes Lucifer tick – asking himself “WWLD?” – and Chloe got to know Lt Pierce better.

Lucifer’s back to his old..er…tricks – we haven’t seen his free lovin’ side in a while (one episode of “premature unfurling” aside) or even his general ridiculous side – he’d started to get a bit respectable.

Lisa: Tsk..Tsk..Tsk.. the opening scene was a little steamy! I like to see Luci’s naughty side from time to time. I mean he is the devil so we know he’s not golden.

Melissa: It was a little startling to have him back to his old shenanigans, but having that affair result in a judge owing him a favor elevated the situation. I do enjoy Lucifer talking his way out of sticky situations and into something that benefits him.

Cay: the deal with the judge was kind of entertaining, but I’m getting tired of the rest. The devil-man-child thing is getting old especially since it seemed like he was maturing.

Leah: I can’t stand this show right now. Lucifer is just a childish ass. I don’t care if it’s an act or not, I do not like his “Devil may care attitude” about EVERYTHING.

Melissa: I feel you, Leah. Lucifer is lashing out (again), and it’s getting old. I’m hopeful that this episode marked some real movement forward in the quest to resolve Lucifer’s daddy issues. Like, this was the messy, I-don’t-want-to-change/forgive/move on part and now we’re on track for the I-can-leave-this-baggage-behind part.

WWLD wasn’t exactly a rousing success for Amenadiel

Lisa: No it wasn’t! It was pretty funny when he told the woman at the bar “You’re lucky. you get to sleep with me!” Um…not the same charm as Luci I’m afraid. It was funny seeing him be so awkward. He needs to stick to those angel ways.

Melissa: Watching him try was sure was amusing! Having Lt Dan come bail him out of jail made me chuckle. But do you think the exercise work? Did walking a mile in Lucifer’s Italian loafers give Amenadiel greater insight into his brother? Based on that final scene, I’d say yes.

Cay: Yeah, I like Dan. I don’t want to, but I do. And Amenadiel is a good guy, so I enjoyed their scenes. And Amenadiel is definitely no Lucifer! More angel than devil

We saw a different side of Lt Peirce

Lisa: Now I really want to know what his game is. He went out of his way to save Chloe, but I still don’t trust him! What is that about?

Melissa: It sounds like Pierce was injured because Chloe was nearby, i.e. the same “effect she has on Lucifer.” Pierce can’t be an angel, right? Lucifer didn’t recognize him. Which means he isn’t a demon, either. What else is there?

Leah: This part was the only semi-intriguing thing about this episode to me. I’m with you, Melissa –  Can I assume he didn’t think he’d get hurt, but somehow being around Chloe has the same effect on him as it does on Lucifer?

Cay: I interpreted the scene differently – I thought Ella was right and the Pierce is hot for Chloe and thinks that Lucifer is, too, thus his comments in the hospital about her being special and how she affects Lucifer.

How about that last scene with Luci and Amenadiel?

Melissa: Heartbreaking! That might be the cruelest thing I’ve seen Lucifer do. But with his response, Amenadiel proved that he is much stronger – and more angelic – than Lucifer gives him credit.

Cay: Definitely a dick move, Luci! But, he is the devil…but I don’t agree with him. I think Amenadiel has a higher purpose more along the lines of what he thinks than what Luci thinks.

Favorite Lines/Scenes:

Lisa: The whole scene with Amenadial in the club was priceless. He was delightfully awkward. And creepy. I couldn’t stop laughing at his attempt to be Luci. Also, in the hospital when Dan thanked Pierce for the Union Rep Job when Chloe found out the job was for has beens was pretty funny too.

Cay: How much walking and talking like a murderous psychopathic duck do you need to see?  -Lucifer

Melissa: I don’t know that I had a favorite. This episode was pretty meh for me aside from the further mystery surrounding Lt. Pierce and Amenadiel’s attempts at WWLD.

Lucifer airs Mondays at 8/7c on FOX.

Cay's family thinks her obsession with pop culture is "not normal". Normal is boring!
