The Gifted Roundtable: eXposed

By  |

The NiceGirls have been waiting for The Gifted since we caught a glimpse of the premiere at Comic Con in San Diego this July. So needless to say we were pretty excited that it has aired. Reed, a lawyer that prosecutes mutants finds out his children have abilities and it forces them to go on the run.
Did you like the latest Marvel show to hit the air? Read what we have to say and let us know what you thought.

1. What’s your X-Men background? (Any or some films, the 90s cartoon, comics.)
Roz:
I think I’ve seen all the Fox titles (old and new XMen plus Wolverine’s three and Deadpool), plus the 90s cartoon and comics from the last few years and a few other classics (House of M and Days of Future Past). Call me a fan…
Rueben: I’ve seen all of the X-Men movies, but that’s it. So I’m a novice.
Leah:Ive seen some things but I am not an expert….
Lisa: I am a newbie. I’ve seen like one X-Men movie.
Melissa: I’ve seen a couple of X-Men movies but didn’t really care for them and lost interest in the franchise. (The superhero genre in general is only mildly interesting to me.)

THE GIFTED: Jamie Chung Cr: Ryan Green/FOX

2. How do you feel about this world? Is it someplace you want to live?
Roz:
The part that always makes me cringe at the world of the XMen is how easy it is to segregate and categorize. This one feels worse, especially if the Sentinels are around and trying to round up mutants. I think this world sucks so let me just watch it rather than live it.
Rueben: I definitely wouldn’t want to live there, but it sure is entertaining (if that is even the right word to use) to watch all the action. Sentinel Services and those metal spiders were creepy.
Leah: It is not for me. Right Rueben….thoae spider things were too much! The separation and constant running scared is so terrible and exhausting But makes for good TV.
Lisa: I think the Mutants are badass but I wouldn’t want to live in that world.
Melissa: Noooooo.

3. Which mutant has your alliance so far, why?
Roz: I have two: Blink (Jaime Chung) and Polaris (Emma Dumont) because they’re powerful and maybe if were lucky Lorna’s crazed dad Magneto can show up! I can dream of Magneto in this world because he’s my favorite anti-hero and Lorna’s powers are so much like his that I want to watch the visual craziness they have.
Rueben: Well, Polaris is obviously at the top, but I have to root for the underdog Andy. I have a feeling that he is going to end up being an extremely powerful mutant on the level of Magneto.
Leah: Lorna. She was awesome.
Lisa: Polaris!! But I’m with Rueben. I want to root for the underdog as well. I’m excited to see how he grows.
Melissa: The kids, I guess.

THE GIFTED: Coby Bell in
Cr: Ryan GreenFOX

4. Who do you want to see maim or kill Jace Turner (Coby Bell) the most?
Roz:
Marcos might get first crack, but I really want a Stucker to take him down.
Rueben: As much as I like Coby Bell, his character is not a nice guy. I totally want Marcos to take him down with major assists from the Strucker kids.
Leah: I’d like to see Reed do it. Sentinel Services taken out by a mere mortal.
Lisa: As long as he goes, I don’t care who did it! lol He has to go!
Melissa: Wait, which one is Jace Turner?
*Shows Melissa who he is*
Melissa:
Ooooh. I got a kick out of his reaction at the house when the Struckers escaped and again in the tunnel when when they got away. I’m OK with him be continually stymied by the good guys.

5. For those who follow Marvel jokes, which was funnier: Stan Lee’s cameo or the 90s theme for Marcos’s ringer?
Roz:
90s theme! I just wanted Prof X to fly across my screen as it played.
Rueben: I totally missed the ring tone so I’ll have to go with the Stan Lee cameo.
Leah: I’m always loving a Stan Lee cameo.
Lisa: It’s not a Marvel party until Stan Lee shows up.
Melissa: I didn’t catch the ring tone, but I chuckled when Stan Lee showed up.

6. MVP?
Roz
: All of Mutant Underground for putting on a fight in a world without XMen or Magneto’s Brotherhood.
Rueben: I agree with Roz. It was hard to pinpoint just one MVP, but I’d have to give a little extra kudos to Blink for getting all of them – but Reed – out of that very dire circumstance in that last scene.
Leah: The Underground was great but Reed immediately going family first was awesome.
Lisa: Reed!
Melissa: Reed – family first!

The Gifted airs Monday 9/8c on FOX
