My 5 Favorite Things from Dragon Con 2017
Atlanta’s internationally known pop culture, fantasy, and sci-fi convention, Dragon Con, broke attendance records yet again this year with record attendance of more than 80,000 people for the four-day celebration. Below is a list of my top favorite moments during Dragon Con 2017. Enjoy!
5. The Cosplay
The cosplay in Atlanta is off-the-chain gorgeous! Dragon Con takes it’s costumes seriously and it shows. There are so many incredibly creative, funny and simply stunning ensembles it is impossible to pick a favorite.
4. Geeks who Drink
Dragon Con knows how to party. If you have the stamina to stay up late, this convention will keep you entertained till the wee hours of the morning. Don’t take my word for it check out the video below, it was quite literally the most inventive and unusual way to end a panel I have ever witnessed!
3. Zach McGowan
Zach McGowan is currently a series regular on the CW Hit show The 100 as Roan. He is also well known for his iconic role of Jody in Showtimes dramady, Shameless. However, his portrayal as the infamous Captain Charles Vane in STARZ original series Black Sails is a personal favorite. I had the sincere pleasure of meeting the actor and in true Charles Vane style, he pirated my phone and gave me a memory I won’t soon forget!
2. Lesley-Ann Brandt at the Lucifer Panel.
Lesley may play the sometimes evil and always fearless demon Mazikeen on FOX’s hit series Lucifer, but in real life she is real wonder woman. The actress gave birth to a beautiful son a mere six weeks prior to her appearance in Atlanta. Lesley’s family trio came with her to Dragon Con and fans were treated to a peek of her son, Kingston Payne Brandt-Gilbert and husband, Chris Payne Gilbert at their panel.
1. Zachary Levi’s panel
For years I had heard fans rave about Zachary Levi. I did not fully understand their adoration until I had the distinct pleasure of enjoying his astonishingly heart-felt, and utterly candid interaction with fans. Zach is one of those rare gems. He is the real deal and makes us all want to be a more open and whole-hearted person by following his example. Check out the video below and you will be won over as well!
