REVIEW: Girlfriends of Christmas Past

By  |

Airing this Sunday December 4th on UP, Girlfriends of Christmas Past tells a tale of revenge and also one of friendship.

Let’s start with the synopsis

When three strong-willed women join forces to seek the ultimate revenge on their cheating ex (played by John Brotherton) at his upcoming holiday retreat, love struck event planner Livvy (Tammin Sursok) meets Carter (Brent Bailey), the property manager organizing it all, leaving Livvy to question if she can leave off their revenge scheme long enough to finally forgive her ex and let a real holiday romance blossom

I have to assume you don’t watch holiday TV movies to be surprised. At least I hope not because these movies aren’t new ideas. Scorned woman seeks revenge while finding love along the way, we’ve all seen that movie. That’s not to say UP doesn’t do a good job telling the story, and if you are like me you know exactly how these movies go and you watch them anyway.

Livvy has a job as a party planner and a fabulous gay assistant to help her plan the perfect parties. What she doesn’t have is chill. She gets dumped and doesn’t handle it well. Livvy opts for revenge. Enter two ex-girlfriends she tracks down to help her with her plan. Together, Livvy, smart uptight redhead (Lindsey McKeon) and free spirited blonde (Abigail Klein) attempt to mess up Anderson’s new relationship. Things don’t go as planned. What does happen though is Livvy meets a new guy. A good guy.unnamed

The thing UP does in this movie that I appreciate is making the girls friends. Too often in movies girls get catty and argue amongst themselves. This movie bonds the girls together as friends for life.
