PITCH: Old Guard vs Rookie {Recap}

By  |

Pitch takes on two of baseball’s biggest frustrations: a rain delay and being traded.

Weeks ago, Mike Lawson (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) missed being traded to another team, but now Management wants to put him on waivers for a team to pick him up (it’s an ego killer to be traded in such a way after years of service), and while in the middle of the rain delay, he and Blip (Mo McRea) decide to spend some of the down time with Kangaroo Court – wherein players are fined for errors and bad manners in the club house.

No one wants to be traded via waivers (I’d say that applies to most players unless they’re going to a real contender. Mike should go to the Cubs in this world if they’re still going to win the World Series.) and after so many frustrations, Mike takes out his anger at Ginny (Kylie Bunbury) not respecting the rules of Court serious by telling her that he won’t be there to lead her forever.

Ginny’s not only faced with a small idea that Mike won’t be her catcher for much longer, but her brother, Will (BJ Britt) comes to visit and wants to have Ginny invest in a sports bar. Amelia (Ali Later) continues to look out for Ginny, but at what cost? Ginny’s life is complicated enough without knowing some hard truths about her brother and his business.

For the first woman in the MLB, can’t she just focus on the game? Everything else seems to make her falter.

From the button, it looks like her focus is going to be thrown more off course as Mike just agreed to be traded, via waivers, to the Cubs.

Pitch airs on Thursdays at 9PM/8PM Central on Fox.
