The Vampire Diaries: You Decided I was Worth Saving {Recap}

Wow! Where do I start with this one. Can we just all agree that we hate this siren Sybil lady? Sybil is the perfect name for her crazy self. She and her insane mind tricks need to get out of here stat! With that being said, the opening scene was bone chilling. Watching her insert herself in Damon’s memory of Elena’s car accident was crazy. It was definitely a wow opening and let’s us know this siren is not messing around. Here are a few of my key takeaways from this episode. Grab some wine and let’s dig in.

  1. Bonnie & Caroline planning a wedding = priceless! I loved this moment because it was so real and relatable. Two best friends excited about Caroline’s wedding, and Bonnie even out “Carolined”  Caroline by getting her old wedding book from her childhood. It was such a girly-fun moment that almost took us away from the crazy until Caroline brought up Enzo. Back to reality and the sadness that Bonnie has been facing. Bonnie has really had bad luck. I am hanging on hope that we get to see her happiness again.
  2. Flashback scenes – I loved seeing the flashback scenes with Damon and Bonnie during Damon’s attempted mind erase from Sybil. Moments like this remind me that we are in the final season of the show (sad face). Bonnie and Damon have had a rocky relationship with ups and downs and it’s so cool to be reminded how they got here. Then of course, it was tarnished by seeing Sybil in his pancake memory with Bonnie.
  3. Nobody puts Enzo in a trunk. So psycho Sybil fixed it so Damon and Enzo would fight each other to the death. She decided that she only needed one of them to be her slave and the other would have to die. She tried to make Bonnie pick which one would die, but you know Bonnie was not going to play that game. Stephen went to stop them from killing each other, but it didn’t work. They began fighting like high school boys with vampire speed. Bonnie and Sybil showed up and just when Damon was about to kill Enzo Bonnie screamed “I choose Enzo!” What?? Sybil instructed Damon not to kill Enzo. Damon begged her not to do it. Bonnie knew part of her friend was buried deep down in this evil Damon somewhere but she would have to live with her decision. Then a major twist! Enzo kissed her and said if anyone could bring him back it was her. Then he turned off his humanity switch and didn’t care (or pretended not to care) when psycho Sybil threatened to kill Bonnie! What the hell? Again I repeat, psycho Sybil has got to go.
  4. Damon needs prayer! I don’t know if prayer for vampires works but he needs a miracle. After the incident with psycho Sybil he tried to kill Bonnie. Luckily Alaric’s friend hit him with a car just in time. Bonnie made it out of this episode alive, but I can’t say the same for Tyler Lockwood. He taunted Damon and tried to to get Damon to walk away from Sybil and her control, but instead of walking away. He got this evil look in his eyes and attacked Tyler by biting his neck. Yep, the bad boy Damon we all loved is no more. Sybil has turned him into a monster.
  5. Diary Entries – I really enjoy how they write in the diary for Elena to keep her informed of everything she’s missing, good and bad. Stefan writing to Elena this week was pretty cool and the fact that he started out with “I don’t know where to begin” was perfect because this was a tough episode.

Favorite line of the night: Crazy Sybil – “I mean you can’t spell Damon without Damn.” Exactly. 🙂
