ONE CHICAGO Women: Chicago Med 1×18, Chicago Fire 4×23 & Chicago P.D. 3×22 recap

By  |

With Chicago Med and Chicago Fire airing their season finales, it was an eventful week in the ONE CHICAGO world. Read on to find out what happened with the leading ladies of Chicago Med, Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D.

Sharon Goodwin: When Will Halstead gets offered a position at Chicago Med, he’s quite surprised. He’s even more surprised when he realises Goodwin would have been the one to back him, and so he casually confronts her about it. She cheekily replies that she knows that it’s going to be a matter of time before he annoys his fellow staff members and does something to get himself fired and she’s curious to see how long it takes. On a more serious note, when Sharon skips a budget meeting, a concerned Maggie goes to her house and finds Sharon in a distracted state – her husband has left her because he wants to spend his retired years “happy”, whatever that means. While Maggie suggests she take the day off, Sharon refuses and pulls herself together and goes to work.

April Sexton: While she and Halstead tend to a drunken patient, the patient knocks April and she crashes into the doorway. Although she insists she’s fine, Halstead later notices her in discomfort and orders her to get some tests done. Her boyfriend is also concerned by the safety of her job and suggests she quits her job … and marries him! She tells him that she has to think about it, her test results come in and Halstead tells her that she unfortunately has tuberculosis.

Dr Natalie Manning: Nat is pleasantly surprised when she runs into former Chicago Fire firefighter Jeff Clarke, who is now a fourth year med student after giving up firefighting due to an injury. Jeff Clarke was friends with her late husband Jeff and is now divorced. We’re not the only ones seeing how Nat lights up around Jeff – so does Halstead who has just accepted a job at Med and we’re pretty sure him thinking he had a chance with Nat played a big part in that decision. Love triangle in season two, here we come!

Maggie Lockwood: As per usual, Maggie is the voice of reason. She is keeping an eye on the whole Manning and Halstead situation and points out to Halstead that Nat is no longer wearing her wedding ring. Then when April shares her news of her boyfriend’s proposal, Maggie’s look says it all. Maggie is someone that you want on your team to keep you in check or to pick you up when you are down, just like she does with Sharon in this ep.

Sarah Reese: For weeks we’ve seen the med student struggle with Pathology being her path. Now her graduation is here and she’s about to become a real doctor – her boyfriend Joey even presents her with an official lab coat with her new credentials. Sarah ends up missing her graduation because she falls asleep while watching a baby that she and Nat are treating. When her first day in Pathology arrives, she quits despite the fact that she now has no job or any idea what she’ll do next. Dr Charles congratulates her and as the realisation of what she has just done sinks in, she begins to panic but the psychiatrist assures her she will be fine.

Gabriela Dawson: Dawson’s pursuit to be Louie’s foster mom continues and as part of the process she is now looking for a new place to live. Casey offers for her and Louie to move in with him but she rejects the offer, leaving Casey a bit miffed. Dawson finally finds a place, only for it to fall through at the last minute and so the apartment above Hermann’s garage is the last resort. It’s going to need a miracle though with her home visit evaluation in just a few hours. Good thing her friends at Firehouse 51 are on the case to help. They make the place look great, but upon closer inspection the cracks show, leaving Dawson passionately pleading her case that she was in a bind and her friends stepped in to help and it’s that love and support that Louie will receive if Dawson becomes his foster mom. While she waits for a decision, Firehouse 51 are called to a building fire that leaves her and Stella Kidd trapped inside. Dawson orders Kidd to escape first and before it’s Dawson’s turn to leave, there is an explosion. Thankfully, she made it out of the window but is now clinging to the side of the building for dear life until Severide rescues her. When they arrive back at the house, Dawson is clearly shaken and just as she goes to call Casey, Child Services arrive with Louie. Congratulations Dawson, you’re now a mama! In this episode, Chief Boden set the firehouse a task – to write a letter to a loved one in case anything ever happens while they’re out on a call. It’s something that Dawson has been struggling with, but as she settles Louie into their new home, we hear her letter and it’s to Louie. It’s a very touching letter and the icing to this feels cake is that Casey shows up at her door instead of his campaign manager and he and Dawson reunite. Yay!

Sylvie Brett: With Jimmy’s older brother dying last episode, Brett is concerned about her partner and rightly so. When they tend to a call involving fellow firefighters and the situation happens to parallel their recent situation, Jimmy goes hard on the compressions and does them quite aggressively – it takes Brett to stop him and snap him out of it.

Stella Kidd: Although she is not a main cast member (yet), she plays a big part in this season’s cliffhanger. For weeks her ex husband Grant has been trying to win her back but Kidd rejected him and has since moved on to having fun with Severide. Grant ends up OD’ing and while visiting him in hospital, Kidd tells him he needs help. Dr Charles from Chicago Med sees her tearfully leave Grant’s room and tells her he’ll keep her updated. In the closing moments of the episode, Kidd and Severide enter her apartment joined at the lips and as they move to her bed, a call from Dr Charles rings out silently. As the camera pans out, we see Grant sitting in the next room in the dark with a kitchen knife in his hand!

CHICAGO P.D. -- "She's Got Us" Episode 322 -- Pictured: (l-r) Jesse Lee Soffer as Detective Jay Halstead, Sophia Bush as Detective Erin Lindsay -- (Photo by: Matt Dinerstein/NBC)

Erin Lindsay: Lindsay and Halstead are on night patrol for overtime and are discussing apartments that Halstead has been looking at. Lindsay has been vetoing every single one when suddenly they get an active shooter alert. When they arrive on the scene, they find multiple deceased gun shot victims and one young girl who is still alive. Traumatized, she passes out in Halstead’s arms. Lindsay forms an attachment to the girl and waits at Chicago Med for her progress. Her dutiful boyfriend and partner waits with her and later brings her a change of clothes. Soon after the young girl wakes, she causes a scene when she stabs a staff member with a scalpel. Lindsay calms her down and just as she’s about to get answers to help with the case, Dr Charles sedates the young girl much to Lindsay’s displeasure. (By the way, Dr Charles appeared in all three ONE CHICAGO shows this week.) When the fog lifts, the young girl helps Lindsay and Halstead put together the pieces, which leads to Intelligence solving the case.

Kim Burgess: Platt and Burgess are supporting Roman as he undergoes physical therapy after last episode’s shooting. At work, Burgess is informed by Commander Crowley that when Roman returns to work the pair will be reassigned new partners. Burgess is unimpressed but shouldn’t react so quickly because it looks like Roman will never be able to return to patrol because he will never completely heal due to bullet fragments near a nerve. At the end of the ep, he announces that he wants to move to San Diego where his brother is based and wants Burgess to think about coming with him!

Trudy Platt: As well as supporting Roman during his physical therapy, Platt is fighting for Burgess and Roman to remain partners on the job and not be separated.

Chicago P.D. season finale airs Wednesday at 10/9c on NBC. Chicago Med and Chicago Fire will return in the Fall.
