Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Roundtable: “The Singularity”

By  |

Fitz and Simmons learned the infection Hive inflicts in order to sway Inhumans acts as a drug, and his victims are addicted to it. They go in search of a doctor whose work might help them find a way to stop it. Hive, meanwhile, is doing anything he can to prevent anyone from stopping him as he and Daisy move forward with his plans.

1. What was your opinon of Coulson’s willingness to kill Lincoln if he became infected, but unwillingness to extend the same order for Daisy?

Roz: Coulson doesn’t trust Lincoln enough for the same level of dedication he has towards Daisy. Like he said, Daisy’s as close to a daughter as he has in the world and it shows. He’ll protect her above nearly everyone else.

Rueben: It’s just what Coulson said to May, he sees Daisy as the closest thing to a daughter that he may ever have; and I believe he will put aside everything to protect her. He doesn’t have enough faith in Lincoln (even though I think he should, but that’s my personal opinion) or probably any other Inhuman because of the effect that Hive can have on them.

Jan: I agree with both Roz and Rueben. Coulson can keep a clear head with every other Inhuman….he makes the calls that his job dictates he make. But because he thinks of Daisy as a daughter, he makes decisions more as a father than the director of SHIELD.

2.Hive told Daisy that the device they sought is the only thing that could stop him. Does that clue give you any more insight as to what it might actually do?

Roz: Not at all. I’m still lost and I really don’t have a strong Cree background to know for sure.

Rueben: No, like Roz, I don’t know anything about the Cree backstory, but I can’t imagine he will let that device out of his sight even though we are all hoping that the SHIELD team is able to acquire it and stop Hive.

Jan: I still have no clue about it either. He seems to be concerned with collecting people and things that could be used against him though (thinking of the doctor). Guess he feels if he possesses anything that could be used against him under his control it makes him more invincible.

3. How do you feel about Jemma shooting Hive?

Roz: GOOD FOR YOU JEMMA! I love watching her be so strong when Hive used Michael’s memories to then test to gut and shoot.

Rueben: It just felt so good to see Jemma surprise Hive with shooting him even though it didn’t do a damn thing to stop him. I think it may have helped Jemma to get even the smallest amount of payback for Hive killing Will.

Jan: It needed to be done. Too bad it’s only benefit was allowing her to get away. I’m afraid Hive won’t underestimate her if they encounter each other again.

4. Why did Hive have to buy a whole town for his growing army of Inhumans?

Roz: Creepy experiments if I trust the preview and that’s not at all shocking. I guess Hive wants more! (imagine he’s Ariel from The Little Mermaid as I typed that.)

Rueben: I wish I had an answer to that one, but it was a big head-scratching moment for me. Obviously, nothing good is going to come of that purchase and the big showdown between SHIELD and Hive and his army will be held there.

Jan: I’m not sure what his reasons are, but I agree with Rueben that it seems likely a big showdown is coming to that location.

5. What was your favorite scene in “The Singularity?”

Roz: MAKEOUTS! For the second week in a row, I’m a shallow shallow fan.

Rueben: All the scenes with Jemma and Fitz.

Jan: I liked all the Coulson and May conversations. Always enjoy how she will call him out when she thinks he needs it.

6. Who was the MVP?

Roz: Fitz for taking on that long conversation with Daisy to get some more clues about Hive’s plan.

Rueben: For me it was Jemma simply because she stood up to Hive and for her shooting him (even if it didn’t take him down in any real way).

Jan: Jemma. She shot Hive, called the doctors bluff, and still made time to get cozy with Fitz. She’s at the top of her game.
