Women of the Week

By  |

It’s that time of the week where we pick our favorite women from last week in TV.

Adina Porter as Pearly Mae on Underground
Nominated by Roz and Seconded by Rueben: Adina showed Pearly Mae’s true self and did it with poise and grace.

Chloe Bennet as Daisy on Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD
Nominated by Rueben: After being touched by the Inhuman with the power of premonitions, Daisy did all she could to save him, herself and all of the team. Despite their best intentions; namely keeping Daisy inside the SHIELD compound for her own protection, she had no choice but to try to “save the day” – putting her life on the line. Thankfully the visions played out different than expected and the man with the premonition power saved her. That doesn’t lessen what Daisy did throughout the whole episode.

Katie Cassidy as Laurel Lance on Arrow
Nominated by Ange: If you rewind to two seasons or even a season ago, Laurel was not a favourite with a good chunk of the Arrow fandom, but over the past season more fans have warmed up to her, which is why her death this week was super frustrating. My gripes with Arrow storylines aside, Cassidy’s performance in this episode – in particular her “goodbye” scene with Stephen Amell’s Oliver, reminded us of how far she and her character has come.(The part where she admits that Oliver is the love of her life but she knows that she’s not his – talk about feels! Cassidy knocked it out of the park with that moment.) I’ve enjoyed seeing her become a confidant and voice of reason for Oliver, a big surrogate sister to Thea and a valuable member of Team Arrow. She will be dearly missed on the show and I’m really sad to see her go.
