4 Reasons to Binge-Watch “Stitchers”

By  |

In five days the second season of Freeform’s “Stitchers” returns. That gives you plenty of time to catch up on the first season. There were a few things that attracted me to this show: the cast is awesome (Salli Richardson-Whitfield and Allison Scagliotti!), the stories are fun with plenty of twists to keep it rolling along, and the idea of being able to connect with a dead person’s memories was intriguing to me.

That’s just the tip on the iceberg. There are more reasons to binge-watch this show before it comes back. Lemme ‘splain.

  • “Stitchers'” first season introduced us to Kirsten Clark, a young woman who is recruited by a secret government agency to be “stitched” into the minds of murder victims’ memories in an attempt to solve their murder. Kirsten has a little problem of her own, however. Since she was 8 years-old, she has had Temporal Dysplasia, a disease which robs Kirsten of the ability to tell the passing of time. It also crippled her emotions and she basically doesn’t have any. Already, this is an interesting character and one that the writers could go in so many directions with.
  • There is a case of the week in each episode, but there’s also an underlying mystery, or I should say mysteries, surrounding Kirsten and the agency she is now working for. Her mother died in an accident and her father took off, leaving Kirsten with an uncle. You’ll have to watch to find out more.
  • The first season did a great job in creating some interesting back stories for the main characters. In episode 8, “Fire in the Hole”, we get to study each character under a microscope, so to speak.
  • Season one ended on a heartbreaking cliffhanger and a bit of a switch-up for the series. I’ve already watched the first three episodes of season two and I can tell you that there are a lot of changes. All for the better and they take the show even deeper. They also don’t start out the new season slow. There are big reveals and even bigger questions. I love a mystery, that is well known around here. It will be fun putting the puzzle pieces together in season two.

You can catch up on “Stitchers”, season one, on Hulu right now.

“Stitchers” returns March 22nd at 10/9c on Freeform.
