MANHATTAN: What to Expect from the Second Season

By  |

WGN America’s Manhattan returns for a thrilling second season on Tuesday at 9 PM Eastern/8 PM Central.

The premiere – and the season really – weave two very different stories together – one at the start of the Trinity Testing and the second fifteen months before back at the base. However, neither story told in the episode is simple, or without drama. Lives are threatened and challenged, and new people enter into the world we’ve all grown accustom to with different ideas.

The ghost of Frank Winter looms over the base, even more so as the story unwinds and details are sprinkled like sugar on oatmeal. Family and friends are tested in the wake of Frank’s disappearance, from Helen to Meeks and Fitz to Crosley.

However the Trinity Test is equally fraught with tension, with Charlie Issacs (Ashley Zukerman) at the helm while Frank is gone and it won’t be an easy road ahead for anyone on the base to meet Issacs’ timetable.

That all makes for excellent drama, though. Manhattan will lead all of us on a ride from knowing that the atomic bomb can exist in the theoretical sense into the world of reality.

If the first season kept you intrigued, the start of the second will do that and more.

Come back here in the coming days and weeks for more details about this season, all from the show’s junket from July.
